  1. so the “cake” joke is a reference to an infamous sub of Death Note. Back when Fansubs were much more common, because you had to wait months to get official subbed or dubbed content, a lot of the people doing them would leave certain words in japanese, supposedly because the concepts don’t translate well, or at least not one to one. Obviously, ‘plan’ is not one of those concepts that doesn’t translate well, so that one was more a case of the fansubbers being kinda…hipsters, I guess, and just leaving the word in japanese but then providing the meaning anyway. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/just-according-to-keikaku

  2. I’m sure you guys have heard this plenty but they’ve done some parts for the Buu saga they’re calling Buu Bits. I also hope you guys react to the dragon shorts and HIFL episodes they made

  3. I will watch Boom watch this from wherever he decides to start from, going back to the beginning of Kai, all the way to DB, or after where this technically ends. You post’em I’ll binge’em

  4. Man I’m so happy Ruff, Erik and HMan l were aware of Unmei no Hi. It’d be cool to see Boom react to the Japanese version of Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 Transformation because it really is something special. The song, Unmei No Hi Tamashii vs Tamashii, is incredible. It was written specifically for the transformation scene.

For a long time I never understood the love the scene got, but it was DBZA and the use of a cover of Unmei no Hi that spurred me to watch the Japanese version and realize how amazing it truly is. Unless I’ve listened to it a few times in a relatively short period, I almost always tear up when I hear Unmei no Hi or the English cover from this.

In a previous reaction Ruff mentioned the possibility of reacting to Xenoverse cutscenes, but I’d also like to suggest reacting to Budokai 1 cutscenes as the game goes up to the end of the Cell Saga and had scenes from the anime recreated in the games engine. Budokai 1 came out in 2002 so along with the graphics, it’s aged a bit, but it’d still be cool to see your reactions because you’d also get to hear the plagiarized but nonetheless fantastic OST by Kenji Yamamoto. The track in the game used for Gohan’s SS2 transformation, as well as Goku’s SS1 transformation, A Hero’s Desperation, is better then any other song ever used for it other then Unmei No Hi.

  5. I think the reason Gohan is referred to as Teen Gohan here is twofold. In the Japanese version of DBZ, Gohan’s 3 main age groups are Younen (childhood), Shounen (boyhood), and Seinen (adolescence), the last 2 of which are pretty synonymous with teenagehood in English. Teenagers themselves are also referred to as Juudai, which covers ages 10-19. I think they sort of went with Teen cos it’s the closest translation they had, but he really is a pre-teen ? Just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

  6. If anything the English dub actors for DBZ have big issues with DBZA.
Seriously the amount of disdain and hate that Sean schemmel and Monica rial have for fan content involving dragon ball is sickening

    1. Monica Rial just seems like a c*nt in general. Chris Sabat loves DBZA though. He was in Super Android 13. And fun fact, Gohan in the future in that movie was voiced by Justin Briner, who voices Deku in My Hero Academia.

  7. I’d love you guys watching Kai, especially the BUU saga!
The thirteenth saga and the World Tournament Arc were always my favorites! Now, that’s not a very popular opinion, but a certain someone was my favorite character, and these are the best arcs to be a fan of this particular character.

  8. At 51:52 there was a solar flare with an image in the song I don’t think you guys noticed. Looked like Cell flexing in some spandex or something

  9. I would still love a reaction to original dragon ball even if it was just a compilation of moments from the show. It has some genuinely great moments with Goku bewildering everyone who meets him.

  10. Honestly, i LOVE the Funi Bruce Falconer score over the Kai soundtrack. I know there’s lots of filler and Buu saga is LONG, but the score for so many amazing moments has too be seen IMO. Yall know what scenes im talking about. “And this is to go even Further Beyond”. And ”I do this for you..and yes even for you ********”. Even some of the tournament scenes with Gohan powering up, Vegetas Pride Speech. To me the Falconer score made those moments even more incredible. Super Buu’s theme. The introduction of you know who at the lookout / time chamber. Mystic Gohans power up and later getting Gokus SS theme. Even if Boom just watches the clips of all the Major scenes, i think he would enjoy it even more.

  11. I’d love to see Boom react to Kai and Super (and if he decides to in the future even GT).
I hope you all react to the HFIL series by TFS, which like I mentioned in another comment on the Vs reaction, is the spin-off/sequel to DBZA. I’m sure you all will love it and it’s more Abridged comedy for you all.

  12. Fun note, the Cell Jrs (minus Vegeta Jr Jr) are named after various Voice Actors for Cell.

As for Gohan transforming. Everything from the bird flying by to the song was in the original Japanese version of Z. Well, the song itself was in Japanese, and sung by Hironobu Kageyama, who did the opening theme “Cha-La Head-Cha-La”. But yeah, this is what we missed out on because FUNi insisted back in the day that Gohan needed an internal monologue.

    1. Well Gohan’s monologue and the fact they restored the entire show. Other countries had the original score by Shunsuke Kikuchi which meant they also had Unmei No Hi.
