The "Dragon Race to the Edge" show is suberb. I loved it and find it worth the watch. It is cannon to the movies and gives the characters their context on growth from the 1st to 2nd movie. It makes sense to why Hiccup sees himself as the "peacekeeper," as he says in the 2nd.
P.S. Hiccup needs to get out of his Steven Universe (befriend-the-villian) phase and shank a villian. Lol.

How to train your dragon race to the edge is really good and has the best villain out of all of them

The ending speech Hiccup gives at the end ("There were dragons when I was a boy") is the opening of the original book! I was so happy to hear it when I saw this in theaters.
(But... not sure if I actually reccomend the original source material. In the books, Toothless could talk. And he was a piece of shit. )

I love these movies, but in my opinion, the writing kinda goes downhill with each one. The first was solid, if simple. The second tried to retcon some stuff and ended up with a more complex, but kinda flawed plotline. And then this... well, it's entertaining, but a bit meandering and confused. The villain is threatening enough, but has no character worth remembering. His plan with the light fury literally doesn't make any sense, seeing as he just releases her with no way to control her or havr her lure Toothless anywhere. He just... suddenly shows up after following Ruffnut and shoots them both...
Hidden World has a LOT going for it, namely that I love this world and (some) of the characters and we got a lot of cool, heartfelt moments with them. I just wish we could have focused on that and left the new villain of the week on the shelf.

Please for the love of god don’t bother with The nine realms. I normally don’t shit on stuff to the point of recommending others to stay away from it, but holy shit. That show butchers this universe and its characters. And this isn’t like a Legend of Korra situation where ppl just hate on it just bc it’s new and different. Damn near the entire fanbase can’t stand the nine realms. If y’all do want more from this world there are multiple series that exist that take place in between 1 and 2 that are really good.

riders of berk and the edge series are fantastic, they do a great job of building up the relationships and characters and showing the growth of hiccup as a leader. the other shows.... yeah I refuse to call those ones canon
