I agree with Boom about Gwen. I always enjoyed her powers being more magic based instead of her being an alien.
I enjoyed seeing her grow and learn magic plus Ben was the one with alien based powers thanks to the Omnitrix so it was nice to see Gwen use a different kind of power. I was always disappointed they made her powers alien based.
the main answer to yalls complaints is ben 10 was making millions to billions in merch. it’s worth MORE than DCEU, Madden, Sonic, Yu-gi-oh, GTA, and dozens more. CN saw how much money it made and thought they could profit more if they could force characteristics of the original, instead of letting the writers tell a cohesive story.
At the time it was the biggest cartoon besides SpongeBob. which also went through meddling, different directors, and their main showrunners’ deaths impacting the series.
one of my favorite aspects of ben 10 is the lore and world building of the alien races. especially how the politics and lifestyles affect different species, its more apparent in Omniverse.
The only thing id say about the judge letting ben off is would you expect superman to go to small claims court over a pet dispute? its a waste of time for someone like him who could be doing something meaningful also what make OG Ben 10 great was the fact Ben was still an amateur and actual professional evil dudes like Vilgax could and wanted to steal the Omnitrix which would be a universal threat but this season doesn’t have that
Well, I mean there is a coffee that they feed the bean to a cat and wait for it to poop it out. Also as for Gwen, it’s not like because she found out she’s part alien did she suddenly gain new powers and such. The stuff she uses is stuff that she had to learn over the last six years within the timeline of the show, just as their Grandma said for Gwen to gain full control and access to her powers it would still take about seventy human years with proper training

Keep in mind when people are referring to AF Season 3 they’re referring to both S3 + 4 on Amazon. Also, yeah Ultimate Alien is basically a marketing title change. Season 3 (S3+4) faced a lot of interference from Cartoon Network as a bad attempt to emulate the original series: personality regression, broken omnitrix, Kevin’s mutation etc.
11 year old me wanted to punch Sesson 3 Ben in the mouth. Whatever focus group crap those executives did to try and make this show more kid-friendly, it didn’t work. Still, there’s good to be found in this season, like there is in every Ben 10, with a few exceptions.
As to the future, Ultimate Alien gets a lot of really good plots, and Ben is marginally less annoying, but it still has all of the flaws inherent to the franchise. You’ll like it, I think, but you should take another small break after Season 3 wraps up. Give those She-Ra fans their incredibly satisfying finale.

Alien Force is kinda in this weird spot for me. It might be my least favourite Ben 10 series from the original 4. I still really like it but it just doesn’t feel that great on the rewatch. I like all the AF-introduced aliens but you can see how insanely too good they are. I think originally the goal was to kinda recreate the original 10 but with different abilities. But the focus on keeping it only 10 (actually 9 cuz Alien X is not really something usable) meant that each alien got a ton of abilities making them really too fricking good. Those 9 aliens just don’t exactly have any obvious drawbacks unlike the original Ben 10 aliens. Like how Echo Echo is basically Ditto but better. Ditto clones will feel pain no matter which one gets hurt and you need all of them to turn back whereas Echo Echo’s not only are completely seperate so attacking one won’t hurt others but also you can destroy all of them and as long as one stays, Ben will be fine. That and sound powers which Ditto didn’t have.
Anyway, loving your reactions to this, really missed the Ben 10 reactions but also glad you took that break to refresh yourselves and hopefully your interest will keep up this time
i hope they dont think of ben 10 as below other series because of these sets of episodes. there’s alot of good story plots/concepts in the future and it would suck if they ever get so burnt out that they think its only worth it turning their brain off.

China seems militarizing in the time of their economy dropping and their youth getting angry over less jobs, I think they watched the war episode and agreed with the monopoly men. Also that episode was hilarious
I feel like the reason you guys are enjoying this season is because your viewing experience difference to most people. Since you guys are watching it together you can enjoy even the bad moments of the show because of just how off the rails they are. But if you were to watch it alone and try to take the story seriously it would be very different. It’s kind of like watching a bad movie with your mates compared to watching it alone. Watching it in a group you can make fun of the bad writing which makes it fun.
As a kid this season always seemed off to me. I dont think I thought of it as a bad season because as weird as it sounds I never used to think of cartoons as bad. But now that I look back to it I can understand why I wasnt enjoying this season.
Btw Waybig species is actually a very peace loving and docile. That’s why in the very first episode of this season when all of Ben’s escaped Aliens turned primal and started attacking, Waybig was the only one who didnt attack.

The original and omniverse are the best series
The executive meddling is the cause of Ben’s regression, while he does get better the childishness will never completely go away.
Meddling is always a shame, narratively it could have worked if he started out this way and then ended up like AF s1 Ben at the end.
