One theory I’ve heard about the color of the lightsaber is that it’s determined by the type of power you draw on from the Force at the time of its creation. In terms of the three original colors:
- Blue indicates drawing power from your spirit
- Green indicates drawing power from your wisdom
- Red indicate drawn power from your passion
Since you get purple from mixing red and blue, having to purple lightsaber indicates that you draw power from both your spirit and your passion.

Looking back at these episodes, Ryloth was probably one of the best season one arks in this show. It may have some of the comically evil villains in the show, but the message still hits. War is terrible. Nobody truly wins. Even in victory, there is still going to be problems that can't be solved with a weapon being aimed at it. (The starved and broke Twi'leks with their burning homes and fields full of gravestones, who do not want the Republic to stay on their planet.)

Eh they technically do, originally they didnt but they were later given meaning in most star wars stuff now follows those reasons. Blue and green are determined by styles, red is obviously sith, purple are jedi who use the dark side, yellow are for jedi who have deep loyalty to the jedi or seek a deeper understanding of the force, and white is for grey jedi. now again these arent always strictly followed, but they are the in universe representations

Glad to see you boys reach the finale for seasons 1 I really enjoyed your reaction so much as I thought I would (Liberation of Ryloth being my favourite arc for season 1) and could tell by the way you guys were having a few different quiet moments between comments that you were letting the information and lore of the episodes soak in👍

Its not that purple lightsabers users struggle withe the dark side like Anakin. Its that they purposely USE dark side aspects

Not really, the color doesn't have anything to do with that. Mace specifically is the only jedi permitted to use his form of combat which taps more into emotion and tilts a little more dark then the others, he once tried to train a Palawan but the couldn't handle it and went dark. That's why you see him do things like crush droids rather then push them

From what I’ve seen, there are a lot of different ideas on how lightsaber colors work, but the one I agree with is color=fighting/role of the Jedi.
Blue users fight primarily with their blade.
Green users fight more with the force.
Purple users use the anger and aggression of the enemy rather than their own. (Kind of like a loophole for the Jedi since they are not supposed to fight with emotions).
Red is just to mock the Jedi if I remember correctly.
The other colors show up later in the show, but there are others.
Yellow is wielded by the temple guards.
White (shows up in another series). In the theory that states that the lightsaber crystal is bleed to make it red, there is also the ability to heal it. It will then turn white, then eventually yellow.
Orange (highly rare and I don’t think is canon) is carried by Jedi who work amongst the people.

Yellow are sentinels, not just guards but the ones who actively hunt sith relics and such to destroy or hide them. Purple doesn't relate to Windus form, your right about the anger and aggression but only Windu is allowed to use that form

So, a cool thing about Mace and Anakin, they're both really alike in not just lightsaber skills and force ability, but also in how they both do everything they can to save others
The big difference though is Anakin focuses on saving individuals, while Mace insists on making sure the most amount of people overall stay alive
Another fun fact, Mace is right under Yoda in terms of both power and Authority in the Jedi Order, hence why he can do so much crazy force shenanigans here while others struggle

I heard somewhere that Legends era lore established that purple represents strong ties to both dark and light, and while they fight aggressively, I see Windu as someone who actively controls the dark side, not controlled by the dark side, although he might have struggled as a Padawan, I forget. I also like the lore on whether you fight better with the Force (green) or the Saber (blue).

After growing up and rewatching the show, I saw that while the Jedi were good, The Republic is corrupt. This show does a good job of showing the action side of war as well as the politics of it. Also I heard somewhere that Mace had grew up thinking the Prophecy was about him. I don't know how true it is but if it is, he'd kinda be like Tai Lung

At this point, the best assumption to have for Asoka not being in movie 3 is that by then she had finished her training under Anakin and was on her own as a jedi. Even tho she was added to the lore after movie 3, it actually makes Anakin being mad for not being made a master even more valid if he had trained a padawan to a jedi and they still said he wasn't ready.

The issue with the purple Saber is that's not how it worked until disney. Disney created this idea that Saber colors depend on your side of the force and turn red by bleeding the crystal with dark side energy or purple if it's a mix like windu.
But in the cannon before disney took over there was nothing about that in the lore. Sabers were certain colors depending on the crystal inside. It's how one of the greatest sith Exar Kun had a duel blade (the first of its kind) blue lightsaber it wasn't a long handed one like mauls but single hand grip with two blue blades. It's also why Anakin in episode 3 after getting Sith dark side eyes after Windu died and became darth vader officially still had a blue blade as he massacred kids and jedi. He lost the blade vs Obi-Wan and made a new one.
Red crystals were artifical ones made by sith that made stronger but sometimes less stable blades (Vader even put 2-3 crystals in his because he made his lightsaber have adjustable length as a way to trick hedi in fights).
Windu had a crystal from his home planet put in his blade with permission that was purple instead of green or blue like normal kyner crystals. A wookie had a orange blade for similar reasons and the Jedi temple guard have yellow because the blades were passed down when you become a guard and those are old passed down Yellow blades.
Disney's new lore kinda just doesn't make sense with any old material since lightabers were never meant to be a certain color based on force. At most some jedi preferred certain colors like green for more thinking jedi blue for more combat based ones. But there have been a ton of dark side users or sith who have not used red blades in the past that Disney's new lore can't really explain.

And if you want to get non lore reason than nothing matter. IE it's purple because Jackson wanted it purple. The original luke saber was more whitish blue because of the effect of the time, and green in ROTJ because the sky shots caused the Saber to not appear in effects.

The quality increase as the show goes on is fairly subtle I think. It seems to be something that gradually happened as hardware got better and the animators became more experienced, I’m not sure there’s really any one season that will look super different from what you just saw at the end of the prior one, except for Season 7 because of the time gap between 6 and 7.

For the most part characters become slightly less blocky from season 1/2. The bigger upgrade is more variety in environments and details in them. Some stuff in the early seasons have a real video game skybox with alot of undefiled rocks vibe.
