2 murders in a single night is maybe considered a spree killer, a serial killer is 3 or more separate murders with a distinct amount of time in between them.

So fun fact actually, Sids therapist friend that was with her in the cops car, was actually originally written to be one of thr Ghostfaces. But due to the script leaking out they completely rewrote the killers identity. I don't remember which one replaced her but I believe it's Mickey. Don't quote me on that, but yeah it's interesting thinking about what if they stuck to that, what her motivation would've been. Also I love that these movies continue to prove there literally is no such thing as a bad Scream movie, even the "weaker" ones that may still have a good few problems are still really freaking fun. (Mainly 3, but I and many others still love 3.)

The final shot in this movie of Sidney leaving the campus is so powerful and bittersweet. It's triumphant because the heroine we love so much is alive and has prevailed again but at the same time, she's alone. It's not like the first movie where, as horrible as what she went through was, she survived and probably assumed it would never happen again. She lost Hallie, she lost Randy, she lost Derek, she was betrayed by someone else she considered a friend in Mickey. Gale and Dewey at least have each other, she doesn't have anyone at this point. Just one of the things I love so much about this series, as outlandish as it can get, it never forgets the humanity of its characters.

Another good 90's horror you guys should check out is Urban Legend, it's in the same vein as Scream and IKWYDLS.

This movie is kind of a really good PSA against hazing because if Derek's frat bros hadn't done that to him, he wouldn't have died.

In my opinion Mickey is one of the most underrated Ghostface killers of the entire franchise. I love just how psychotic he is and the fact that he wanted to get caught and we don't even know how he came to be so crazy, it keeps him mysterious. There's something else about him that I won't give away quite yet, I'll wait to mention it when you watch Scream 3. I like his motive, it's different and actually feels kind of real. I can just imagine a crazy person who wants attention do something like this. Especially for the time the trials were a big deal and honestly still are, so I think it holds up and not very dated. He is the one that actually killed everyone in the movie, except for Randy. He was the only person Debbie killed, like you mentioned Randy was never a target, Gale was. Which would make sense since Debbie most likely blamed her too for Billy's death. But he had to comment about Billy and like she said she got a little knife happy. A lot of people were furious with Randy's death when this came out, but as much as I love him I do think his death was necessary for a few reasons. 1, they needed to show that anyone could die, raise the stakes. 2, for me we needed an emotional death, especially in this film we needed a death we really card about. We could with the others but not like it was for Randy and in the first film that was actually Tatum. And 3, in my opinion this is what completely changes Gale, her character goes through growth after this and it honestly stays with her, of course she can't help but be her Gale self but she's different from here on out. Having her just drop her microphone, goes with him to the hospital and not care at all about the story when she sees that Dewey is alive is such an underrated moment.

I also need to mention, I'm pretty such that Bill or Stu didn't actually SA Maureen in the first film, she did sleep with Cotton beforehand and the authorities assumed she was, especially since he was arrested for her murder. If you notice they never bring that part up again after they're revealed, they just talk about her death. What I think happened was Maureen went home with Cotton, he was actually drunk so she honestly took advantage of him and while they were sleeping together Billy and Stu came, stole his jacket and after Cotton left they killed her. And as they were finishing her off Sydney came home, Billy put Cotton's jacket on as he was leaving and from a far Billy and Cotton do look quite similar, so she mistook him for Cotton. It still is very messed up though, especially since they made it clear that Sydney was the one that found her and right after it happened too.
