Anytime you see Garp proud of Luffy while actively hunting him fills me with so much joy

I am LOVING this adaptation. Maybe not every single bit, a few things that could have been done better, or I preferred in the anime/manga, but also a lot that yeah.... they have done so much better. About the only overall 'complaint' I'd have is that the backstory bits don't hit quite as hard as they should for me, mostly I think because the kid actors, while great for their age, don't really have the same presence and skill as the main ones and so can't quite carry the same level of emotional weight. But as an adaptation? This is knocking it out of the park overall!

I have to admit, I'm pretty upset we don't get Krieg properly, because even with the little we get of him, I could he he would have been perfect for all the speeches he gives.

It feels like the plots/character expo of this show is directly related to something that’s currently happening in the manga. I’m trying to be vague but if you know you fucking KNOW

Except their biggest complaint was that it stuck too close to the source material.
Granted, it's the same site that gave the Cowboy Bebop adaptation a 7/10, while praising it for how faithfully it stuck to the source so.... I don't think these people have actually watched either anime.

The ending for the episode was really good, but damn I wish Zoro had said "Is that ok, King of the Pirates?" before he passed out.

There you go. In a project given the Oda thumbs up, Zoro is called the first mate

Zoro has gone on record and said "Zoro is the most similar thing to first mate the straw hats have" which is explicitly different.

I read that very VERY early before he came up with the 7 Warlords, Oda had in mind for the strongest to be called The Big Three. Then that became the 7 Warlords, which over time quickly began to tease the 4 Emperors, the final form of his Big Three idea.

I have to say, I love your guy's appreciation for the small changes and sources material of the show. I'm someone who watched One Piece when I was younger and didn't pick it up because of circumstances but might pick it up now cause of the show. Anyways, I thought since you all love the show so much, you all might be quite judgmental towards the changes but it was the opposite. You understand the lore,
the reasons why some character aren't in the show, and how some materials can't translate to live action, and all, just enjoying a show that genuine people created for the love of One Piece. So thankful for this reactions to the show cause I'm enjoying these reactions .

I was wondering how they were gonna do Krieg since in the trailer they showed Arlong appearing at Baratie fighting Luffy and I knew they had casted Krieg. my thought was that they were gonna have Arlong beat up luffy at Baratie, leave with Nami then Krieg shows up and Luffy has to fight him then go after Nami also have Mihawk fight Zoro. But in all honesty I like what they did instead.
