I’m so glad I paid the money to be able to see this reaction in full. I’ve been thinking about joining your patreon for a while because I enjoy your reactions so much. But I just NEEDED to see the full versions of these, because I enjoyed the cut versions tremendously already.
I’ve already seen the whole show but want to watch it with you guys as well, because you guys understand the changes they made (and why they did it) and love them as well.
Ive already watched the full season and am now circling back thru your guys reactions and can legitimately say I loved it. Is it perfect? No. Does it have everything? Obviously not but it makes so much out of the time it has and the things they changed or moved just work so well that I just still love it
You’re talking about subtle things they included… Maybe it’s just because I’m just coming out of Thriller Bark in the anime, but I noticed right away that in one of the Shanks flashback scenes they’re playing Bink’s no Sake/Bink’s Brew in the background.
I hate to be the only dissenting voice, but like… the camera work really ruins it for me. It felt like they found their cinematographer on Fiver. I can’t put my finger on it but it feels really amateurish. I dunno. Really puts me off.
Even the special effects! The special effects are way better than I expected. Also the cinematography is great during fights. It just feels like during the calm scenes, it becomes like “we’re high schoolers making our first movie”
I don’t personally care about spoiling the anime or manga but if you guys want to avoid that then maybe putting future characters and their future looks in sticker form in the top right isn’t the best idea lol, some people might not know those characters will join or stay important and some are a surprise or shock if unknown
Interesting detail, Morgan actually didn’t defeat the black-cat pirates. Kuro mentioned that when he faked his death he had hypnotized a marine to convince people that he had killed them and that marine was Morgan which is how he got moved up in rank so much.
Funny enough my first watch of one piece is this episode in the anime and that’s it haven’t catch up at all so thank you for holding in any spoilers just put a spoilers alert in case y’all want to bring anything up
You know, I am currently watching Ruffs reaction to the anime and currently in the lower five hundreds right now (first time getting this far as when I was a kid I only saw a few episodes), so I am glad I get to watch this with you guys and notice the details. Even if I don’t notice them, but having you guys point out some is awesome!
To be honest…. I actually like the Live Action Morgan better then the manga/anime version…. He’s a hard assed bastard with an Aes Sedai sized ego in either one, but here.. he isn’t such a freaking psycho that you are wondering how the hell the Marines are taking orders from a guy that will just kill them on a whim. Yeah, they knocked this out of the park. About the only even more then extremely minor quibble I have is that Shank’s wig just looks…. really wrong for some reason. Beyond that this is fantastic! And loving how many little hints and additions they added in from later on, like the wall of wanted posters, or Bink’s Saki playing in the bar with Shanks/
And am I alone in thinking the scene were Luffy ate the Gum Gum Fruit was shot in a way that implied the Fruit was calling to him?
I actually really like that Gum-Gum fruit scene since you’re right. It doesn’t just look like he ate it purely on an angry whim but was actively drawn to it (for whatever reason ;))
They are shifting stuff around a bit, it was actually because he killed Helmeppos dog that Zoro got locked up!! I assume they shifted around and changed some stuff because they didn’t want any crazy animal violence from a protagonist if that makes sense.

I don’t even mind the actors, the costumes the sets. It’s just this Disney Channel Original Movie lookin-ass storyboarding and directing.

If you watch in Japanese, they have the original voice actors do the roles.
They did that for all the regions the show is dubbed in, using the same Va’s as that regions anime dub as well.
