While the first 4 movies are good, it doesn't complete the full story. The entire series is getting different perspectives from different times/families that all revolve around one antagonist. There are definitely times in the later ones where it gets kind of convoluted, but they are still fun watches.

Unfortunately the "just check the cameras!" Problem persists throughout the whole franchise though. I totally get the frustration because I felt the same way watching them all in theaters originally

The third film is set during Katie and Kristi’s childhood. The fourth film is a direct continuation of the second one.
