There is another Doctor that plays a Marvel villain. And he's quite possibly the scariest of them all. Maybe not the most powerful. Maybe not a threat to the whole world or universe or whatever. But he is horrifying in a way that no other Marvel villain even comes close.

This is easily the best Iron Man and probably the most underrated marvel movie. Shane Black did a great job. I also don't care about the Mandarin twist. I get it if you've read the comics and they ruined a character etc. But if you haven't, then it's just a great movie.

so this movie actually took some inspiration from a very famous Iron Man comic run called "demon in a bottle" where tony deals with his woes by drinking... a lot... he becomes an alcoholic, but since this is Disney, they decided to give him ptsd and anxiety attacks instead

The ending and the butcher "twist" job they did on the Mandarin for this movie makes it easily bottom 5 MCU movies ever...that being said and for that reason, this is one of my least rewatched MCU movies by a long shot and I have to say, up until the last maybe 25 minutes, this movie was WAY better than I remember. Also, not sure if anyone said this already or I missed a comment in the video but those shadows on the wall from the explosions were taken from what was observed in Japan after the 2 nuclear bombs were dropped. Fallout also copied this effect as well...insane that it was taken from real life events, and that the phenomenon actually can happen.

alright, so this movie was originally going to have a very different villain with Maya being revealed to be the primary antagonist instead of Killian. the reason this didn't happen though was that the head of marvel at the time, famous racist and sexist trump collaborator Ike Perlmutter said that "women don't buy action figures so why would we want them to be action figures". ignoring the sexism aspect of that, Killian action figures didn't sell well either so I guess the joke was on him.

I really enjoy this movie, but I'm one of those people who really don't like the twist with the Mandarin. Trevor is hilarious and I laugh at those scenes every time, but the Mandarin is far more compelling than Killian, both in motives and screen presence...which I suppose you could say is the in-universe point, and it's hard to outdo Ben Kingsley as a villain.
It's a better movie than Iron Man 2 in my opinion, though I very much enjoy Iron Man 2.

it makes so much sense that Tony has ptsd. in Iron Man he was literally held captive for a while and in the same movie he was almost killed by a man he trusted. he was dying in Iron Man 2 and in The Avengers there was the whole of the attack on New York that seems to really be effecting him in this.

For an inspiration of one of Iron Man's best stories, the Extremists, this was a bit of a disappointment. It's too comedic in comparison and of course the twist was lame. I remember trailers misguided this for being much darker than the previous 2 Iron Man films but it technically was way more lighthearted with audiences.

idk how anyone could Iron Man 3 fr, but I get why people don't like that the Mandarin was a bait and switch, especially now since Shang-Chi is in MCU. I especially love that this was the beginning of them slowly humanizing JARVIS as a character and starts to talk more casually to Tony.
a few more fun facts besides Rescue:
--the AF1 scene with Tony rescuing those people was performed by a real skydiving team
--almost all the suits Tony built are from the comics, some more obvious by design than others
--the public enjoyed Tony and Harley's relationship so much that everyone has been 95% sure that Harley will be announced as Iron Lad
--the writers actually tell you several times that the Mandarin is a fake before he's revealed
--Boom is correct about the logo being shown before every Mandarin announcement; it belongs to the Ten Rings, helping Killian keep America's [and Tony's] attention on his propaganda due to their terrorism. It was created just for the MCU.
--the Mandarin is Tony's main villain in the comics, and he's obsessed with him, and while technically Killian still fulfills the role by manipulating the West's view of non-white people, it was obviously a letdown

There's a few things I do like about this one, such as Tony going through PTSD from what happened in New York. I think it's handled very well, all the scenes with him and Harley are my favorite parts of the movie and I liked that we spent quite a bit of time with him and not just a few minutes and he contributed. I also like the end credit scene with him and Bruce, it's very funny.
But, other then that this is the weakest of the Iron Man trilogy for me. And a bit part of it is because I think the villains are a lot better in Iron Man 2. At first the Mandarin is a cool looking villain, he sounds great and looks intimidating and I though Ben Kingsley did a great job. But once his true identity is revealed, which I don't really have a problem with like other people did and I still like him, I think he's very funny but after that we're left with Guy Pierce and I'm sorry but he is not a very interesting villain, he's one of the weakest for me. In 2 we had Whiplash who looked great and had an awesome weapon and I also thought Justin Hammer was a more entertaining villain, Sam Rockwell can always manager to bring a certain charm to any role he plays.
And an problem I have with this, Tony makes one the dumbest mistakes he's ever made and it's very hard to overlook. And that's not only telling the Mandarin his address and inviting him to come, he also gave it to anyone that might be his enemy. I get he was very emotional at the time from what happened to Happy but it was just stupid and they don't even show him regretting it, taking precautions or anything and in the end he put Pepper in danger and was shocked that they came. I know this has it's fans and that's great, but this one is just not for me.
