by the way, Khaleesi is the name for queen in Darthraki. the Kahl and Khaleesi are the king and queen. her name is Daenerys (or Dany as her brother calls her at the end)

I can't wait for ya'll to finish this series. Like ya'll, I never watched this until last year, 2024, with my wife. Similarly, we never watched the series because it was so mainstream. Quickly became obsessed with the overall arch. It consistently left us on a cliffhanger, which is a bittersweet, yet beautiful moment in writing. However, I hope you're able to watch through, because this show, gets even crazier!!!

Just an FYI, and I'm sure that others have said these too, but, it's fine if you go through the intro on fast forward if you want to, but the locations showed in the intro are relevant to the episodes, so, if the intro doesn't show anything from across the narrow sea, you won't be seeing Daenerys. Same for any other places shown on the map.

Also, the show runners were the ones getting tired of making the show. The show was at the height of it's popularity and George R. R. Martin (The book writer), although he still hasn't finished the books themselves, he had a rough story script written down for them to follow in order to bring the show to a close. HBO approved of it, and both they and G.R.R.M. were expecting the whole show to last until season 11-12 or something like that. Instead, the show writers wanted to move on to the next big thing, and supposedly wanted to get in on writing for Star Wars. So they rushed out season 7 and 8, leading to it being a total mess and feeling like things moved too fast, just like everyone got jetpacks and space and time made little sense.

not sure if it's spoilers, but they didn't technically run out of source material; after season 4, they started straying from the books, removing plotlines and adding some new ones, basically making the show a bit more separate from the books, as such a lot of book fans believe that's when the show started getting bad. anyway, I do disagree with you that HBO would eventually give up on the show if the showrunners kept going aimlessly, this show was their cashcow and the showrunners actually had to make them end it.

the capitol, King's Landing, was filmed in a real city in Croatia called dubrovnik, they cgi the castle but the real city is gorgeous, i went there once and it is such a vibe

As excited as you guys are, imagine having to wait a week, couple months at season half's sometimes, between episodes, then the year or so between seasons. That was rough.

(Not a spoiler) So when it comes to the hatred for the series' ending, while there were a lot of people saying it deviated from where fans thought it'd go, the bigger problem was that the producers semi-intentionally botched it.  HBO gave them a blank check and said they could do as many episodes as they wanted to finish it, but the producers went "Nah, Disney's offered us a job producing a new star wars movie, so we just want it over with."

Which hurts more because Disney ended up rescinding their offer after the season aired and cancelled the project altogether.

Actually you guys should watch the openings. It's different every time. It shows the locations that will be in the episode, who's in control of those locations (the house sigil). Great way to learn where everything is and keep track of people.

This is gonna be an awesome journey. When I saw this series I did it kind of rushed... I guess I was just addicted to it. But now I can take my time and watch it again + seeing you guys react to it. You are not ready!

“Why’d you tell me then?!” This is one of those moments where it’s better in the book. In the book, it’s after the joist and the Hound is escorting Sansa back to the castle but is drunk from the post joust feast. He drunkenly tells her the story himself.

    Spoilers Warning.

I know it’s different in the books, but in the show Dany really is immune to fire or heat.In House of Dragons, they mentioned that some Targaryens have a lot of dragon blood running through their veins. Maybe Daenerys is one of them, that’s why she’s immune to fire. And has 3 dragons, even though Targaryens can only tame one. Or I got my facts wrong. Lmao.

Can we all just appreciate the fact that Grenn and Pyp were making fun of Sam but the moment Jon told them to stop, they listened and started protecting him too? True loyalty to Jon.

I gotta say, even without the twincest, it’s pretty fucked up to purposely cheat on your wife while her brother is standing guard outside

Catelyn calling on the northern houses will always be one of my favorite scenes of the show. It’s such a cool demonstration of how far loyalty and good will between the houses can go

being a bit pedantic, they're not northern houses, they're riverlands houses, the loyalty comes from her being a tully, not necessarily from her being a stark

realized I wanted to add this too though it's a little spoilery; the Tullys are also one of the more diplomatically trained houses, the region they control is notoriously unstable, so when they were chosen to lead the riverlands they gained the loyalty of their bannermen by fair and just, basically learning how to play politics in a way that didn't piss any of them off.
