This version of Young Justice from season 1-4 has been a hodgepodge of different teams and character story telling merged into one series. Teen Titans, New Teen Titans, Outsiders, the actual Young Justice and later Titan storylines have all been beautifully intermingled with each other. It's why it's pretty darn good.

Original Teen Titans: Dick Grayson Robin, Wally West Flash, Garth Aqualad, with Donna Troy Wondergirl (Troia/Wonder Woman's sister) and later Roy Harper Speedy joining the team, followed by other characters you've met (Mal Duncan, Bumblebee, etc)
New Teen Titans: Grayson as Robin forms before becoming Nightwing, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Starfire, with Terra and Jason Todd Robin joining later among other new members
Outsiders: formed by Batman, consisting of Black Lightning, Katana (who was with Batman Inc in this series), Metamorpho, Geo-Force, and Halo. They get other joiners but I don't want to spoil up coming characters and plots for Season 4.
Young Justice: started with Tim Drake Robin, Superboy, and Impulse (not a Kid Flash yet), to save Secret, and then joined by Cassie Wondergirl and Arrowette (who we didn't get anything at all from in this Season 3).
It's through later rechristening of the Teen Titans and later Titans that we get Kaldur Aqualad, Blue Beetle, and a bunch of other characters we get throughout these seasons.

Nolan North, the voice actor for Superboy(and a few other characters) confirmed back in October that we're actually getting a season 5.
It's always fun seeing you guys so excited to learn about DC and the comic origins. :>
And no, Forager is not tapping the Bioship, in case you are not joking XD the concepts of friendship and intimacy are different for New Gods- actually mentioned in Season 1 when Bear tells Conner that "Lower lifeforms often fear intimacy" when the team of New Gods merged to become Infinity Man. New Gods and the Forager bugs on New Genesis value bonds and connections whether they are immediate or take a long time to develop, probably something to do with New Genesis being the antithesis to Apokalyps. It's actually been a while since I've read the New Gods stuff, but I do remember loving it.

DC has always been amazing at those deepcut nods and easter eggs. What makes their cartoons really good is how they can attract a general audience with they mainstream characters, but they typically still have cameos or namedrops of their lesser known characters or lore for the hardcore fans. When they are working with a unknown character (in the animation realm anyways, they seem to love butchering live action adaptations for some reason) they go slow and give you time to learn and connect with the new character. Now that you guys are much more familiar with the DC lore, trying rewatching some of the earlier movies you watched and see if there are any easter eggs that you missed the first time around.
That being said, as one of the more 'hardcore' fans it can grow tiresome to see the same characters (expect Batman) and the same storyline or plots (expect most of Batmans) and the same personalities (again expect Batman... Just keep delivering truckloads of The Bat straigt to my door pls) rehashed over and over. It's cool to see the death of Superman in the 2004 Justice League cartoon. It was interesting to see a more serious version of Supermans death in Superman Doomsday. That made me want to read the comic it was based on, and it was fun to compare and contrast the comic. By the time the DCAMU did Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen, I was consuming the same story for the forth time, and the most interesting aspect was how they spliced in the DCAMU aspects into the Death of Superman story.
Same with Terra, her betrayal in the OG Teen Titans was heartbreaking. But then reading the orginal Judas Contract comic and watching the DCAMU Teen Titans movie its basically already knowing the story, just waiting for the things to happen. It becomes about the desination and not the journey. Now when Terra makes an appearance its like "someone call cps, Deathstrokes after little girls again."

The episode where Artemis says goodbye to Wally I've always seen as the show telling us to say goodbye to Wally and let him go even though people strongly wanted him to come back. Also, it's funny that you guys mention this show going to Netflix as that how the campaign to bring this show back kind of started when it was initially canceled after season two.
Netflix was bringing back shows like Full House and Glamor Girls at the time so the writers told people to keep watching YJ when it was on there so that it could potentially come back, and it seem to work. It's also the reason why this season had such an emphasis on social media presence as a way to tribute to the fact that social media helped bring this show back.

Young Justice does a good job of adapting comic characters and putting their own spin on things for the plot like how Beast Boy's origin was done.

Fox historically mishandles tv shows. Family Guy, Futurama, etc. Pretty much anything that wasnt The Simpsons. Of course those shows were alot more crass than The Simpsons, but still they picked those shows up and then got buyers remorse cause Fox prides itself on instilling family values on its broadcasting networks. So it wants the financial success of airing a mature crass animated series but doesnt want the reputation of doing so. So thats why they would routinely pick up and drop shows like I mentioned earlier. Thank God, for Adult Swim or some of these shows wouldve probably went totally underground and barely heard of like shows like Mission Hill, Clone High, and other lesser known animated series that have a cult following cause of the internet.

Honestly rewatching this season has drastically improved my already solid opinion of it. It’s got some stumbles for sure but when it hits like in the finale it’s just as good as season 1 and 2. I do not get the aggressive hate for this season
