One of the things I love about Young Justice WAY over Teen Titans, is that we get a lot more characters and locations to work with. Teen Titans was very contained and while it had monster-of-the-week like villains, the main one was always Slade, and I found that suuuuper annoying. I also love to see Bruce actually being a good dad to Dick, which we don't see that often in media these days when it comes to Batman and Robin.

Young Justice Is more of a return to form for the DC Animated universe. Before the original teen titans show, DC had a run of connected shows that kind of built off of one another starting with batman the animated series up until the animated justice league series. Where you got to see different heroes interacting with each other making the world seem larger. Teen Titans was a break from this style as it kind of just focused on them showed what the titans were dealing with. If you guys are interested in seeing more heroes I would definitely suggest checking out the Justice League animated series(It's a great time).

so funny enough, not all Robins are orphans typically speaking. Maybe some absent parents or those that don't care, but ironically, despite the Orphan Taker meme of Batman, his Bat Family all have family of their own, they just find comfort in Bruce away from their actually familiar home lol

Dick and Tim don't, and jason.....well by the time he's redhood he doesn't, but Damien, Cassandra, Stephanie and Barbara all do, tho of them only Barbara has good family relations lol

Tim had parents to start out with though and his dad was alive for a good stretch of time before ultimately being killed by Captain Boomerang. It was a pretty defining aspect of his character being Robin and hiding it from his dad.

the aqua man villain with the black mask is Black Manta. he hates aqua man. thats it. thats all his motivation. he woke up one day and decided "I hate that fish dude" and then got to work. people have tried giving him motivation (most recently it was that his dad was killed indirectly by aqua man) but it always escalates to a point with him where its really JUST hatred. he's a petty son of a bitch who famously killed aqua mans baby and then laughed at him about it. when he was on the suicide squad, in order for Amanda Waller to make sure he was giving his 100% she gave him a new helmet that made every hostile look like aqua man. he loved it. One time he thought aqua man was dead. he stoped being a villain and opened a fish market by the sea. he knew the locals and was a pretty chill dude. then he heard on the news that their were sightings of someone who might be aqua man AND HE ACTIVATED. he killed everyone in his shop, burnt down his house, walked into the ocean, and arose in his black manta outfit screaming for aqua man. This isn't even al the shit that man has done. He is arguably DCs biggest hater.

one of my favorite wholesome batman moments: So one of Batman's children is a mind control starfish offspring of the justice league villain Starro. his name is Jarro and he wants more then anything to not lose his family. he kinda has a panic attack and mind controls the justice league as a way to make sure nothing bad will happen to his Dad. bruce then simply walks over talks him down and hugs him. Its just this sweet moment of batman consoling his son whose having a panic attack.

So the Young Justice game is canon to the show, but i highly recommend you guys wait to play it until AFTER finishing S1. It takes place after it, but before S2. Playing it will lead well into the 2nd season. You don't /have/ to play it, but a very important event occurs in the game that is vaguely spoken on in S2 but not fully addressed/animated.

There are also canon comics, but they're not really as necessary.

You know something about the Young Justice Game. It's canon to the actual show.

The old guy at the flash dinner is Jay Garrick who is the OG Flash during the 40s, barry was introduced later in 1956 as the 2nd flash with wally being introduced later as his sidekick kid flash then in the 80s barry died and wally took up the flash mantel for 25 years and became the main flash for a lot of people myself included.

So Garth, Kaldur's Friend Is The Original Aqualad And Was the Aqualad You Saw In Teen Titans, In The COmics Garth Help Found The Original Teen Titans Team And Later In 2010 Kaldur Was Introduced In Both The Comics And The Young Justice Series As The New Aqualad and was later given the human name jackson hyde

Jay Garrick and Dr. Fate are oldheads. One of the coolest things about the DC universe is that a lot of the early heroes were actually ALLOWED to stay in the past instead of constantly having their time shifted, letting them get old or pass the mantle down. The Justice Society is the precursor to the Justice League using older heroes, and Jay Garrick was actually the first character to be called The Flash, before Barry Allen.

So I believe the Flash family dinner was Barry Allen (current Flash we see in the show) Jay Garric which was the Flash before Barry and Wally who is Kid Flash. Then you do see Robin without glasses in the Amazo episode but you see it in a picture in his school that also has his name, there you see which Robin this is, I don't wanna say the name just in case they explicitly mention it in the future

I never realized it until now having watched Teen Titans, but I like that Garth seems like the Aqualad from TT, or at least is in design. If that's on purpose or not, it's cool.

That is on Purpose, in the comics garth is the OG Aqualad and was a founding member of the Original Teen Titans Team( The Original roster Was Different From The 2003 Show) Kaldar Was Introduced Later On in Brightest Day issue #4 (2010) right before He Debut Here In the show, he later is given the human name Jackson hyde

Dr. Fate is one of the coolest superheroes and by far my favorite in DC!  Doesn't show up a lot in popular stuff but I love him to death!

It's wild that in a world like DC, there are people like Wally who refuse to believe in magic. Magic is completely real in this universe and is even one of Superman's weaknesses, at least it used to be until they kept making superman more and more powerful

untrue he Is vulnerable to magic meaning it affects him the same way it affects regular humans. It is not one of his weaknesses.

It's not that farfetched considering science fiction is science fact in DC as well. The speed force isn't magical but metaphysical. There's even a speedster who can use the power just by writing down it's mathematical equation. The green lantern rings are space technology too and Superman's powers are a biological reaction to the sun. With practical reasons for all that, it makes perfect sense for skeptics to exist especially with people like Abracadabra whose whole stick would only fuel a lack of faith.

Regarding the ending convo of if the comics delve into Batman being more of a caring father figure than movies usually present him as. All I'll say is that the Bat Family is called the Bat Family for a reason :).

The Young Justice game came out in between season 1 and 2 in case you were wondering. It's not required but yeah those tie in games were never considered good at the time

The Game takes place between S1 and S2. BTW the show didn't go on hiatus it was straight up cancelled cuz of low toy sales and I heard it also had something to do with the high female viewership(which you'd think would be a good thing). The fan outcry was what brought it back.

BTW to my knowledge it wasn't officially cancelled after Season 4 it just wasn't renewed. But it happened around the time when Warner Bros. kept cancelling a bunch of films and projects for tax write offs. It's not impossible there'll be a season 5. But given you guy's track history with the timing in which you watch shows, I wouldn't be surprised if season 5 gets announced some time this year.

The story of Batman is the story of a boy who lost his family, swore it would never happen to anyone else if he could stop it, and dedicated his life to that goal. In the process he assembled a family of his own that, despite spending their nights on rooftops, act as a family. That have a family's ups and downs. Fallings out. Comings together. That love and support one another. That's a story you almost never get in Batman media outside of the comics, but it's all over the comics. You would never know how often Bruce hugs his four kids and the rest of the Batfamily just judging by non-source material.

It’s so frustrating that mainstream superhero media(dark knight dceu etc.) is so adverse to having robin and the rest of the batfamily because it really does miss an entire part of Batman’s character, the caring father.
