Fun fact about Lee Byung-Hun's reveal in this show: during the marbles game, Sae-Byeok and Ji-Yeong mentioned one of his other movies during their talk. So it turns out that In-Ho just looks a lot like the same famous actor who plays him in real life

Now that it's got to this point I feel I can finally defend Sang-woo.First, I'll state that I don't think Sang-woo is a good guy, simply that he is just human.

Everything he has done has been human or in some cases, even honourable despite what hypocrites may think.

In Red Light Green Light he did nothing wrong, even gave Gi-hun some good advice.

When he left the games he was about to end his life until he got that invitation back. Not once did he mention how he was going to go to prison. The only consequence he gave any damn about was that his mother would lose everything. He went back in the games for her sake.

In the Cookie Cutter game, he chose not to tell Gi-hun the game for two reasons. The first is that he wasn't absolutely sure what the game was, just highly suspected.

For second, he actually wanted Gi-hun to die there. Because he knew there would only be one person left at the end and he didn't want Gi-hun to suffer or be betrayed, especially by him.

In Tug of War, he did nothing wrong and even came up with the idea that got them to win.

In Marbles he betrayed Ali because... well... because he's human. Everyone criticised him because people liked Ali. But nobody would have cared even 1% as much if it had been a random ass player. Because people would realise that it's only human to do whatever it takes to survive.

Remove Ali and replace him with a random and nobody would have cared. Plus Gi-hun did the same to Player 1 and STILL nobody cared... everyone even understood that Gi-hun did it to survive. It's hypocrisy at it's finest from those who got mad at Sang-woo here.

Then there was the Glass Bridge which as Ruff pointed out, Sang-woo could've just delayed a few seconds and won the whole thing right then and there.

Plus Sang-woo was right, if that guy in front of him had delayed even another 3 seconds, Gi-hun would have died. 5 seconds it'd have been Sae-Byeok as well and 7 seconds it would've been him as well. Sang-woo was correct to push the guy for all of their survival.

And now with Sae-Byeok... this one I STILL don't understand how people criticise him for it. Sae-Byeok was dying from blood loss. He knew they would not come and help her since they wanted one of them to die anyway which he knew because they gave them the knives.

She could've held onto life for another hour two and instead of those hours being excruciating pain and delirium, Sang-woo cut her throat and ended her suffering because whether he did it or not... she was going to die anyway. No matter what.

He just saved her some suffering.

The best part? Sang-woo could've won the game there instead of sparing her pain.

Gi-hun was too distracted. Sang-woo could've stabbed him in the back and killed him.

Then Sae-Byeok would've received treatment and instead of an angry and healthy guy, he'd be facing off against a severely weakened opponent instead.

He could've killed either of them... and he chose instead to end her misery instead of ensure his victory.

And it sickens me that even after all this, there will still be people who will try to say that I'm wrong and Sang-woo is pure evil.

Sang-woo is one of the only characters in the series that acted like an actual human.

Sang-woo betraying Ali was racially motivated, that's like Ali's entire character arc as a commentary on the exploitation of foreign workers. When he broke down and started accusing Ali, it's those same racial biases expressed by people like his boss and Mi-Nyeo. Ali couldn't just be better at the game than Sang-woo, he had to be cheating, he wasn't grateful enough about getting bus money and food from Sang-Woo.

Sang Woo admitted he didn't do it to end her suffering, but to make sure those who wanted to leave didn't have the majority. He killed her because she was an easier target than Gi Hun, plain and simple.

For the policeman gun regulations, one chamber is empty in case of the gun discharging by mistake, a blank used as a warning shot to scare potential violent criminals, & three real bullets for actual use. Police in South Korea almost never use their guns since there's not that much violent crime, especially since they don't wear safety vests unless it's the SWAT team.

Back in the 90s and early 2000s, we got the first generation of the Korean Wave or Hallyu, which gave us pop stars like Kwon BoA, Rain, H.O.T, Seo Taiji, plus movies like My Sassy Girl,  Attack The Gas Station, Park Chan Wook's Vengeance Trilogy, and Break Out: Spark The Lighter, plus dramas like Autumn Rain, Winter Sonata and Jewel In The Palace.

I'm a sucker for historical k-dramas, I've watched so many, but the one I love the most is Dae Jang Geum: A Jewel In the Palace (2003).

It's about the first female Royal Physician during the early to mid Joseon (Chosun) Dynasty. It managed to combine: 1) foodie shows, 2) palace and political intrigue shows, 3) procedural medical shows, and 4) historical drama.

It was GROUNDBREAKING, immensely popular, and had a significant cultural impact. There was a korean animation spin off called Jang Geum's Dream about the title character's childhood in the Royal Kitchen.

Korea Tourism Organization promoted Jewel in the Palace-oriented tourism in East Asia and the United States, and the main outdoor sets built by MBC for the shooting of the drama were purchased by the South Korean government. There's even a Dae Jang Geum theme park at the site of the sets where filming occurred!

It also rekindled public interest in traditional Korean cuisine, both locally and abroad.

HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Jewel In The Palace, aka Dae Jang Geum.

There's even a sequel supposed to come out this year, starring the same actress (who hasn't aged AT ALL somehow), 20 years later.
