Don’t watch Suicide Squad. You need to watch THE Suicide Squad. They’re two completely separate movies. Suicide Squad is non-canon. The Suicide Squad is canon (with maybe one or two details retconned). You should also watch Creature Commandos AFTER Peacemaker season 1.
Sorta Stupid watches anything:
Bree: Marvel Rivals? :D
JK love you girl
Hal Jordan
Guy Gardner (usually 2nd)
John Stewart
John Stewart (usually 3rd, sometimes second when they don't want Guy lol, occasionally 1st when a show wants to speedrun)
Kyle Rayner (you haven't had a chance with him but he's cool, but is overly slept on in TV and Movie media, but is BIG in the comics)(usually 3rd, sometimes second when they don't want Guy lol, occasionally 1st when a show wants to speedrun)
Kyle Rayner (you haven't had a chance with him but he's cool, but is overly slept on in TV and Movie media, but is BIG in the comics)
sorry for the double posting, it's hard reading what's written in this UI box
when they met in the alley, Eve told jimmy "but you said my toes look like someone spilled shrimp cocktail on the floor."
The dark knight trilogy with Christian Bale is fire
Yess, Peacemaker is PEAKmaker. One of the best DC shows.
I would do ANYTHING to have Bre show all 3 guys the rookie. Any-fuckin-thing
Whats funny is. In the modern era nobody would believe that message from krypton because it glitches out like that.
Exactly. Lex Luther, known for hating superman, Says he found proof Supes is evil. First part of the message is this hopeful affirming thing then goes crazy with glitches and then goes into some Viltrumite nonsense. Yeah.. pretty damn suspicious. id believe the "picture with a fake quote next to it" before believing that nonsense.
What would it take to watch peacemaker
Guy Gardner is a minor character in the 2nd season of the animated greeen lantern series.
Patiently waiting for yall to see Blue Beetle next...
I also want to add in regards to the superman/clark kent recognition even putting aside the inworld explanations that have been given such as him using hypnosis on everyone he interacts with it is a real world phenomena. There's one person who wrote an article about how she was walking around town with Marilyn Monroe and no one recognized her till she turned on her charisma and everyone instantly started recognizing her. Apparently she was famous for (amongst other things obviously) being able to just turn it on and off at will.
Gods and monsters eh I wonder if that's an easter egg reference to the animated film?
Y'all should watch the Christian Bale Batman movies, Heath Ledger as the Joker was terrifying
the actor playing the father, has a condition called Nystagmus. it causes involuntary rapid eye movement. its non lethal, but can effect your vision. in all of his film and TV roles, you can see it happening
I enjoyed some of the prior DC movies but it always felt like they were rushing everything to try and catch up once Marvel successfully made their cinematic universe. The first DCEU movie was a year after the first Avengers movie and it always seemed like DC was trying to rush and get their own going without letting things really set up. They started with Man of Steel and the 2nd movie was Batman Vs Superman. They introduced a lot of big name villains as almost after thoughts and there never seemed to be a cohesive plan or feeling like they were making the movies as anything but a response to the success of the MCU. Ad that to the more bleak outlook of the DCEU as it was being headed by Snyder and the whole thing just kinda felt off overall. It felt like they were making things to make them and not because it was a story worth telling. Some individual movies were great, but it never really felt like it all came together despite having some of the most popular heroes of all time to use compared to the MCU that started with largely it's more B-level heroes since they sold off the rights to others.
Has Sean seen Firefly? I'm certain none of the others have. One of the most underrated shows
He wouldn't have called it out if he hadn't seen it
reacting to smallvilll would be so cool! i havnt seeen that show since i was younger but it was what got me into superheros in general
To help Sean out try vol.1 and 2 of Mr. Terrific year 1, the Terrifics which is a team with him and Plasticman, Dark Knights Resistance and just for lols "little mr. Terrific"
he was also in Arrow as well
Did not like that version of him... TBH I was pretty fed up with the show in general by that point.
I still need to watch arrow
5:58, they scanned him to see how severe his injuries are to know how much of the Suns rays they need to focus on to him with that device
I'm sorry people, but I liked Man of Steel better. I think it's just a better introduction movie to a universe and a better Superman movie in general. Not that I dislike this movie btw! It's still a solid Superman movie, it just not a good starter movie. I love the story of becoming the hero and after that I want to see what they can do. They build the universe and now we just get dropped in one and you're expected to know some stuff already. For example, I had seen the Green Lantern from this story, but I didn't know who or what he was so that kinda ruined my first experience, cause Green Lanterns in my mind have to be kinda worthy like with Thor's hammer. But than later reading and hearing more about him made him a bit more enjoyable. Plus he's played by one of my favourite actors so I felt kinda bad the first time that I didn't like him. So yeah, I have a weird relationship with this movie. I hope I can enjoy it tonight though!
The reason why it, essentially, starts in the middle of his story, is because Gunn didn't want to retell the origin story again, which makes sense; how many times do you want to see Bruce's parents die in the alley way? how many times do you need to see Flash getting stuck by lightning and gaining superspeed? How many times do you need to see a baby fall from the sky and grow up in Kansas?
Is it important for an origin story? Yes, but not when it's done to death. Tom's Spiderman is awesome even though we never see him getting bit by the radioactive spider, cause we've seen it a bajillion times by that point, twice in live action.
It may not be the best Superman story out there, but it is the best interpretation of the Man of Steel
Make sure to check out the suicide squad and peacemaker
I personally never watched any Superman movies or read the comics, but this movie got me tearing up so many times, even just seeing him fly in the beginning felt so touching to me. I love how kind they make Clark be, and the soundtrack and sound design is super awesome. It was an experience seeing this at the cinema :)
I didn't see it mentioned but FYI! The reporter on the television during the kaiju fight is Christopher Reeves son <3
tbh, I didn't clock that either
I just got caught up on peacemaker and I would recommend watching the suicide squad movie before you watch the show. They’ve referenced the movie in both seasons
Well they refenced the movie in the season 1 recap for "reasons I won't say right now but they'll be hilarious later"
Please watch Peacemaker its in the same world as this movie
You got the most emotionally charged scene in the entire movie and Eric goes "Yo, I don't understand how eyes work."
The stuff connected to James Gunn's DCU is The Suicide Squad (2021), Pacemaker, and Creature Commandos
(an animated project by Gunn)
Which does mean that Margot Robbie is the canon Harley Quinn for the DCU
If ya'll are wanting more DC content you could always go through the DCAU shows and movies. Ya'll did the DCAMU but theres plenty more animated content from DC!
There are still 3 movies left connected to the DCAMU
I love this movie! Might be my best of the summer, Corenswet does a fantastic job as Superman and Lex and Lois are great as is Krypto. Plus fun fact about this new universe Metropolis is in Delaware right across the bay from Gotham! Just like it was in some of the comics!
I would love for you guys to react to The Batman! I love your banter during reactions and I feel like that movie would provide a lot of fun for everyone involved.
Just watched this a few weeks ago, and I mean this wholeheartedly...this is the best Superman movie...and David Corenswet is my favorite Superman put to screen. Better than Man of Steel, better than the originals... Love Cavill's Superman, and Man of Steel is a great Superhero movie, but it honestly just felt like that...another great Superhero movie. This...is a great Superman movie. I will proudly say that David Corenswet is easily my Superman. I have no doubt that James is gonna do this property justice. ♥️ 💙
You guys have to watch The Suicide Squad to go into Peacemaker. Its not like completely necessary to understand the plot, but to understand the character of Peacemaker it makes things so much better.
Also if you guys want a good Superhero-based horror film check out Brightburn, which was also produced by James Gunn
Superman 1978 is great! I don't know if I would go much further than that but hey it's still got who probably remains the best Superman, Christopher Reeves. The Dark Knight Trilogy for Batman rocks, and there's not much else for superman. Watch both Batman The Animated Series (BTAS for short), Superman The Animated Series (STAS), Justice League tv show (2000), Justice League Unlimited tv series (2002, JLU), and you are pretty much up to date with anything containing superman say for a few one off movies and My Adventures With Superman (MAWS 2022). Batman really does get more love, his 2004 animated series is phenomenal as well, especially the first season. BTAS, STAS, Justice League, and JLU are all connected in the DC Animated Universe. Batman Beyond (1999) is also incredible and roughly follows a future version of BTAS.
If i were to reccomend some DC content you guys should check out the arrowverse its low key AMAZING
Yall should watch the new series Alien:Earth it’s a great show . I haven’t even seen the og alien movies and I love it
So three things:
#1. Per James Gunn(or maybe it was the comics), Mr. Terrific is the third smartest person in the world behind Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne. His whole character is being super intelligent and a perfectionist.
#2. Guy Gardner is the third Earth Green Lantern, whether he's the only Lantern depends on continuity. In the new DCU he exists at the same time as Hal Jordan and John Stewart who star in the upcoming Lanterns TV series.
#3. Sadly, they do not have a script yet for Batman, Wonder Woman, or any of the other characters that you would consider primary members of the Justice League. And they won't film them until they get scripts, unlike Marvel who will film while writing a script. Supergirl comes out next year, and they're writing the script already for Superman 2. But beyond that everything is mostly just amorphous plans that are constantly changing. They were going to do a Swamp Thing movie and scrapped that. But they plan to do Booster Gold in addition to Batman & Wonder Woman, they confirmed a Teen Titans film or series, and this movie threw out some hints that we might get Martian Manhunter. And then of course like I mentioned they're doing the Lanterns series to introduce Hal, John, and the rest of the Lantern Corps presumably. James Gunn also said that he thinks Blue Beetle would fit well into the new DCU.
I personally loved the Snyderverse movies including BvS! It had some questionable decisions for sure but I was down for a darker DC universe. Not everything needs to be ripped straight from the comic and I wanted to see more of Batflek, an older Batman who's experienced loss and grief and is angry etc I liked the direction (barring the awful Flash and what that did for the universe and Batman)
That said I LOVED this movie. Im so glad it absolutely cooked!! I was nervous but I have faith in Gunn, he's been so cool about the actors from before too and has Momoa as Lobo cast apparently and wants a role for Henry (dude imagine if it's Batman 🤣) I heard a rumour it could be the dude who played Spencer in 1923 🤷🏻♂️
I don't get why fans have to pick which camp they're in. This movie was quality and Nicolas Hoult was an S tier Lex, like he really captured all of his energy if a little immature version but he is immediately my number 2 Lex of all time (1 being Michael Rosembaum of course).... Corensweat was a great Superman but I'll need to see more, Henry was so good and Tyler Hoechlin in the show too. I think he was let down a little by the suit if I'm honest but I'm sure it will evolve.
Great reaction guys. Shaun Im with you in those emotional moments bro damn!
If you guys want an idea of what hat the supergirl movie is gonna be about check out the supergirl woman of tomorrow comic! That’s the source material for the movie! It’s a standalone comic and a great entry to get to know Kara!
You guys NEED to watch Generator Rex. The Engineer (lady who can make weapons) is STRIKINGLY similar to what Generator Rex is
1:09:56 An Overwatch reference is like the LAST thing I would've expected in a reaction lmao
Man, I remember when they reacted to all the cinematics and origin stories. Wouldn't complain if we got a rewatch + the ones that have released since then, or even a first watch by Alexis and others.
How about more animated DC movies? Like Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, Justice league: Crisis on Two Earths or Superman: Red Son.
I really want to see the long Halloween
I would say watch The Suicide Squad its really good and really helps flesh out peacemaker for his show. Also recommend Creatue Commandos its the first project set in this new DC universe and you get more of Rick Flag Sr
Not a single reaction to the hypno glasses lol
That actor who plays Clark's dad. Not sure if he has a condition, but I've seen him in other movies where his pupils move side to side rapidly.
This was my third watchthrough of this movie and while I still like it and loved the reaction but I hate how they just completely character assassinated the Els.
From what I have heard Gun isn't fully into the idea of ruining them either, so he may have something up his sleeve in coming movies. We will see
Warner Bros rebooted the DC franchise because it was being ran into the ground and literally the audience had given up on the DC brand. Movie after movie after movie they were flopping and making less and less money not only that but even when movies did make a lot of money nine times out of 10 they weren't doing well with audiences and critics.
Aang had the same energy when Appa was kidnapped.
Throwing my hat in the ring for "My Adventures with Superman" series reactions, and as always, "Justice League Unlimited" or "Batman the Brave and the Bold" to learn more about other DC characters.
Suicide Squad is definitely required watching for Peacemaker
if you want to see Superman and Lois have kids, watch Superman and Lois, the CW show.
James Gunn has confirmed that Eve's toes are normal, Jimmy just has "issues".
It seems like Superman was so afraid of losing the dog because Supergirl will be even less composed about it than he is lmao.
Around the 35:00 minute mark the reporter is Christopher Reeves’ son who is an actual reporter in real life.
Smallville reaction would be awesome
The first suicide squad is terrible, but james gunn the suicide squad is great and you guys should watch that before peacemaker.
Fair enough if you weren't into what Zach Synder did Sean but tbh I would recommend his 4 hour justice league movie if you haven't seen it I thought that was the best out of all 3 of his DC movie's
This movie did a pretty good job of showing how incredibly retarded humanity is.
Lex Luthor smart but reckless
ngl the snyderverse is horrible
I agree with the comments you should watch the movies so this is the watch order of things connected to each other :
Suicide squad 2016
Birds of prey and the emancipation of Harley Quinn
The suicide squad 2021
Peacemaker season 1
Creature commandos season 1
Peacemaker season 2
And they say blue beetle is also gonna be cannon to the universe but it isn't connected to any other movie so you can watch at any time. This is my recommendation of the watch order.
Peacemaker has a very cool intro song
Suicide Squad is terrible. The Suicide Squad is great and you guys should definitely watch it!
You HAVE TO watch The Suicide Squad and then Peacemaker for the full experience.
Should 100% watch "The Suicide Squad". It's technically not canon but it also sorta is. It's a good intro to peacemaker though. And then you should watch peacemaker and creature commandos as well
James Gunn could make it cannon in the future hopefully 🤞
I loved this movie so much. DCs future is bright with the Gunn at the helm.
I was going to give some fun facts about Guy Gardner then I looked it up and he is going to get more screen time and his backstory told so I don't want to spoil anything but he is my favorite green lantern.
I’d heard mostly good things about this movie. Was so incredibly disappointed…
why is that? not arguing just asking 🤔.
Wild take
The rewatch was better. There are some great character dynamics and isolated beats. It’s really just the overarching plot that feels like falls apart in the third act. Just seems very basic and predictable. And Luthor didn’t come across as smart/clever.
It hits more notes than I remembered from the first time I watched though. It’s a fun build-up. It deserved the rewatch.
Honestly it's a nice movie full of hope, but it's a super hero movie if you found the plot predictable it's fine. Luthor was just an average smart guy character, his hatred of the man of steel is what made it fun. If you let yourself go along it is better than it is but if you can't I believe it is a fine movie
I don’t know, I feel like ya’ll gotta watch the now terminated DCEU starting with Man of Steel. I’m sure y’all will like some of them. Not saying you will love them (who knows maybe you might), but I’m certain ya’ll will at least find them entertaining. Also for the reason of being able to compare both cinematic universes as more DCU projects come out
They have MOS, the Ultimate Edition of BVS, the Extended Cut of SS 2016, WW, and ZSJL on 4K.
I hope you do watch the Snyderverse eventually. Be sure to watch the Ultimate Edition version of BvS, and the Snyder Cut version of Justice League. Both are better than the theatrical versions.
They have MOS, the Ultimate Edition of BVS, the Extended Cut of SS 2016, WW, and ZSJL on 4K. Also, the Snyderverse is exclusively MOS, BVS UE, and ZSJL.
The Snyderverse is Man of Steel, either version of Batman vs Superman, Snyder's Justice League, Wonder Woman 1 & 2, Aquaman 1 & 2, Suicide Squad, Shazam 1 & 2, Peacemaker S1, and The Flash. But yes, most people just watch the first three as it's really all you need.
I’ve never commented on the site but it shows how much I love you guys when as soon I saw this movie the only thing I could think about was your reaction
You guys missed the hyno-glasses conversation too with the Justice Gang. It's pulled directly from the comics, but Superman's glasses actually alter his features in everyone's minds so he looks completely different from Superman.
Fun fact, Clark’s parents wrapped his Christmas presents in lead foil so he couldn’t spoil the surprise with his X-ray vision.
That's a cool detail
Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League (the animated series), Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, and the Nolan Batman Films are all great for various reasons and should be watched at some point.
and the Superman movies from the 70s and 80s.
Mr. Terrific is an awesome and super underrated character. One of, if not THE smartest people in DC, his only competition being Lex Luthor and Batman. Imagine if Mr. Fantastic from Marvel was also a badass in hand to hand combat and you've got Mr. Terrific.
You know, Clark had the perfect excuse for dissappearing. We just had the pocket dimension revealed and all the prisoners released, everyone knew Lex probably didn't like Clark for interviewing Superman all the time so he had the perfect alibi in that he could easily switch his clothes and come out with all the other people.
this is the only movie I've watched in theaters more than once. I've seen it five times. absolutely beautiful. Unapologetically hopeful and optimistic in a time when we really need it.
There is a Lanterns show coming next year that’s going to feature Hal, John AND Guy.
Kyle Chandler is playing Hal, Aaron Pierre is John, and Nathan is reprising Guy.
yall need to watch 'The batman" amazing movie
btw Mr Terrific was also in the animated Injustice movie as the guy who played chess with superman while debating what to do about crime
The Suicide Squad -> Peacemaker Season 1 -> Creature Commandos Season 1 -> Superman -> Peacemaker Season 2
Yeah I’m so dumb bc I just realized suicide squad is the real kickstarter of the DCU, not Superman
kinda. a squad did go to the island, and peacemaker was there, rick flag was got. but the actual events as we saw them. probably not. (for example bloodsport supposedly shooting SM w/ Kn did not happen in this verse)
Funny they consider DC more mature. Historically Marvel went for older audiences first and DC stuck with kids content only for a long time (one of the last, if not the last to leave the Comics Code). But MCU definitely geared way more family friendly than a lot of their comics.
Yeah I was thinking that too. The mainstream adaptations will definitely have people thinking that DC is somehow more darker and less kid-friendly compared to Marvel 🤔.
Watch both Smallville and Superman and Lois! Both are such amazing shows!
You definitely have to watch the new suicide squad. Half of peacemaker is about what he did in the movie. Plus its an immediate continuation of the story
Before u guys watch Peacemaker you gotta watch The Suicide Squad it’s partially canon to the new universe along with Creature Commandos
don't forget Creature Commandos.
Smallvile would be a fun reaction to watch but I highly recommend Superman and Lois it has the ‘cool’ tone the Man of Steel went for but still actually kept Supermans heart like this movie. It’s also a more mature version of the hero considering he’s a lot further into his personal and career life than what we usually see. Honestly before this movie ‘Superman and Lois’ was my favorite screen version of the characters. There are four seasons so if ya’ll ever get the chance you’ll be in for a treat.
I wonder if the DCU will finally show the Kents using lead to line their Christmas presents to keep Clark from peeking since it is a canon thing he does.
2:01:00 that's literally "Superman and Lois". The show is about Clark and Lois in Smallville raising two teenage boys while Clark is still Superman. The series is beautiful. It was originally supposed to be in the same universe as the Arrowverse shows, but Covid happened during season one. There's small references to the events leading to the series, but the show can be watched on it's own. At least watch the first episode. If it gets your attention, and enough attention from Billys, then I recommend watching the entire series.
Honestly all the DC live actions would be worthwhile. You did the older Batman, the rest of them are fun. The Dark Knight trilogy would be good also. Wonder Woman was fun, and even though theyre not as good imo, the Snyder ones would be entertaining to see you react to!
Yes! Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are both excellent!
I had alot of fun with this movie when I first saw it. I missed humor and color in the DC movies
Just for reference, yall, "fluoroantimonic acid" is one of if not the strongest acid known to man, capable of burning through steel
For the last end credit scene, imagine that Superman's dialogue represents the fans and Mr. Terrific's is James Gunn's response about this movie.
Or his response to starting a whole new DC universe 🤣
🤣.
Perfect book for ya The Terrifics. This was pretty much DC's version of the fantatstic four. It has Mr Terrifc and Metamorpho from this movie + Plastic Man. I think you guys will enjoy it.
https://www.amazon.com/Terrifics-Vol-Meet-New-Heroes/dp/1401283365
I forget have they watched The Batman
Pattinson's Batman? Not yet.
The Bat-Man 🤣
DC has good movies, mainly Batman movies, but since Man of Steel DC tried to compete with Marvel in creating a cinematic universe but the mixed reception of that movie, plus Batman v Superman and the first Suicide Squad receiving negative reviews, they were rushing things around. There were some good ones though, the first Wonder Woman did well critically, but yeah there was no direction for it so eventually it got rebooted
This is it, they just rushed too hard.
I understand that you want to watch "Smallville", but I recommend "Superman and Lois" instead. It is only a quarter the number of episodes. It's only 53 episodes in total.
Yall watching Smallville would MAKE my year.
Here's some fun facts I've compiled from my months-long obsession with this movie:
-Nicholas Hoult auditioned for both Batman for The Batman 2022, and Superman for this movie, becoming a finalist for the latter, so he was basically the PERFECT casting (add the fact that he's literally an inch sorter than David Corenswet, and he's literally just LEx).
-James Gunn said that besides being personally familiar with Bradley Cooper from his time as Rocket in the GOTG trilogy, he wanted to cast someone for Jor-El who was of the same calibre an actor as Marlon Brando and Russell Crowe.
-the newscaster who introduces the Justice Gang is played by William Reeves, son of Christopher Reeve, who played Superman in Superman 1978; widely considered to be the definitive version of Superman; as much as RDJ IS Iron Man. Also, the reason why the Mr Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl were all chosen for the Justice Gang, is because theyre some of James Gunn's favorites
-Saving the squirrel was almost cut from the movie because test audiences reacted very negatively towards it, but James Gunn decided against it; some other things that were cut was Ultraman punching Krypto, and Guy calling Superman a pussy instead of a wuss before the parent message reveal scene.
-the score released online before the movie did, and people thought one of them was very similar to the Batman 2022 theme, so there were som theories that Batman would make some sort of cameo. lo and behold, it turned out to just be Gurkos being revealed to be Lex's ally lol
-According to James Gunn, Mr. Handsome was apparently an experiment Lex made when he was 12 years old.
-Michael Rosenbaum, Lex from Smallville, makes a vocal cameo as one of Lex's raptorguards.
To clear up the DCU timeline: it officially begins with Creature Commandos, followed by Superman, then Peacemaker season 2. James Gunn has confirmed that everything before that is not canon, except for events explicitly mentioned in the new shows. For example, if Creature Commandos references something from The Suicide Squad, that event is canon only as described in Creature Commandos, the original scene in The Suicide Squad is not. The same applies to Peacemaker: season 1 itself isn’t canon, except for what’s acknowledged in season 2. So, technically if you're only wanting to watch what's canon, you don’t really need to watch The Suicide Squad or even Peacemaker season 1. but since the latter would kinda be insane, I basically think you don't really need to restrict yourself to what's canon and what's not if you want to watch things pre-DCU
With that in mind, more added context is that the DCEU was a creative clusterfuck (basically after Batman v Superman underperformed their expectations, Warner Bros. interfered with the creative process of almost every film in the DCEU) that basically had no creative throughline after Justice League. To that end, I personally believe that after that point, you can basically watch those movies in any order you want and the experience wouldn't really be affected.
Also I noticed there was some miscommunication at the end; Ruff was seemingly talking about Suicide Squad 2016, while Sean was talking about The Suicide Squad (2021); technically the latter is a sequel to the former, but you can choose to watch it on it's own. However, The 2016 Suicide Squad was also a victim of WB's meddling and was also pretty disconnected to the Snyder segment of the DCEU, so you can also choose to watch that without the other DCEU movies.
The suicide squad was awesome hope they get to see it especially if their about to watch piecemaker, You can tell from his work tha James gunn loves his jobs its well reflected in his work
i grew up watching krypo based cartoons sooo i was overjoyed to finally see him on the big screen with superman
So! Fun facts!
Jimmy Olsen being shot and killed was in Injustice, which was also the movie that had Mr. Terrific in it! So that would've really been the only other time you've seen him.
Nathan Fillion is iconic for loving Green Lantern, and has voiced Hal Jordan in a lot of DC Media, including the Flashpoint movie! It's to note: Hal Jordan got a new VA in the following movies, so only Flashpoint is Fillion. Not only that, but Fillion is very dedicated to being authentic to the characters. When the team behind Superman 2025 wanted to change Guy's hair, he insisted and stood by the bowl cut, because it's so integral to Guy Gardner.
Krypton being "evil" isn't really a new thing. It's been done before. It's entirely likely that the destruction of Krypton could've pushed the belief of Racial Purity into the message, but who cares. Superman's parents have always been the Kents. That is who taught him what he knows. But many media reference the "evil Krypton" concept, such as Brightburn and even Invincible (WAYYY MORE DIRECTLY).
For other DC Movies I obviously have to recommend the Blue Beetle movie. Audiences are divided on it but I feel its a really fun movie and enjoyable to watch. While the movie itself isn't canon to the Gunnverse, I DO believe that will be our Jaime/Blue Beetle, and I think with y'alls love for Young Justice you would enjoy it!
Other DC movies are hard because personally I don't care for the live action verse. Shazam was fun but I've heard the sequel was awful. Just in general, I recommend Batman The Long Halloween Parts 1 and 2. Great detective films and a good way to learn the backstory of one of Batman's iconic villains.
Blue Beetle was soooooo good. Thankfully Gunn recently said that they would only have to make a few tweaks to make it canon in the DCU (although I'm not sure anything would have to change. I think only Batman was directly referenced outside the Beetle family. I guess maybe the timeline of Ted Kord or Dan Garrett, but other than that?) I just really want a legit sequel to the story of the live action Blue Beetle film.
What James Gunn said about Suicide Squad is that it's cannon but "Suicide Squad and Peacemaker as pretty unreliable memories of what happened in the DCU."
The "kid" in question played young Shawn on the show Psych for many seasons. I don't know if that's where you recognize him from though.
Guy Gardner's (Nathan Fillion) Bowl Cut is actually comic accurate, and he is the cockiest of all the Lanterns
This is such an absolute feel good movie and I think that is so appropriate for the Superman movie to introduce us into this world. No matter how dark things get, Superman is that feel-good beacon of hope in the DC universe. I love it.
Please do suicide squad movies and birds of prey
I would love to see them react to Birds of Prey, such a fun movie.
There's a Lanterns show already finishing production. Kyle Chandler is cast as Hal, and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, and Guy is going to appear. It looks, from production stuff, like Hal is the veteran out of the three, and maybe John is new? Which makes sense based on the comics. It's coming out early next year. Some rumors are saying as early as January.
you know I would love to see you guys watch all of smallville. apparently there is going to be an animated sequel to smallville using the same actors.
need to watch creature commandos as well, just to clarify you have heard and seen of mr terrific he was in the injustice animated movie, he played chess with superman
Oh i am so excited for yall to watch THE suicide squad, peacemaker and creature commandos, all absolutely amazing rides
Fun fact, the actress that plays Cat Grant(Mikaela Hoover), the hot blond from the Daily Planet, is the voice of Chopper for the One Piece live action.
Zack Snyder is not a great writer, his big movies before the DCEU were 300 and Watchmen which were both adapting existing comics. Studio executives saw his resume and assumed he could make superhero movies, but you need to have writers in charge if you want to build a universe that makes sense.
Zack Snyder didn't write any of his movies except for a story credit for the snyder cut.
make sure you guys watch both Suicide Squad films, the Peacemaker series, Birds of Prey, all of the Snyder films (his cut of Justice League)
None of those are relevant to this universe except the 2nd suicide squad movie and Peacemaker. Other than that, they aren't relevant
And Creature Commandos
There were some good DCEU movies but mostly they just didn't click with audiences and the brand had been so damaged that any movie struggled to do even 200 million at the worldwide box office whether it was good or not. A reboot was needed for sure.
just to clarify you have heard and seen of mr terrific he was in the injustice animated movie, he played chess with superman
should for sure watch peacemaker and suicide squad
technically creature commandos was the start of the dcu so should watch that as well
Additional comic recs if interested, this movie also just got me into comics for the first time, so I’ve been having a lot of fun discovering the medium.
The current Nightwing run by Dan Watters is really, really compelling.
The ongoing Poison Ivy - G. Willow Wilson volumes are a lot of fun, this is her first time getting a solo run so you can hop on from the beginning. She has a few issues delving into her origin story and I especially enjoyed those.
And then the Absolute series is a new Darkseid created universe, so it’s alternate origins of all the main heroes, they’ve covered Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, etc. But I’ve especially heard great things about the MM and WW ones. Martian Manhunter one is apparently psychedelic and trippy, so that’s at the top of my TBR.
Shows for the DCU would be Creature Commandos and Peacemaker, yeah
You would be better off watching The Suicide Squad before you start with Peacemaker though
I started watching Peacemaker as well. At the beginning, there is a "previously in The Suicide Squad" recap. The show immediately follows that movie. So, it's a good idea to start with The Suicide Squad.
I have been waiting for Boom's reaction to the Kents so much!
Make sure to watch suicide squad before peacemaker
So I knew I recognized Mr. Terrific's actor when I watched this. I wasn't sure from what. But I looked him up. He was in Twilight. He was Laurent. One of the three vampires that showed up to the baseball game in the first movie, he got eaten by werewolves in the second movie.
I think Gunn's The Suicide Squad should be watched for context of some of the stuff in Peacemaker season 1, but I don't think any Snyder verse stuff is necessary anymore
planet watch sounds like a nature documentary
Yeah dude, I know someone else said too, but if you’re looking for fun Mr. Terrific comics and we know you love Plastic Man, AND Metamorpho is in the group: The Terrifics comics run is so fun.
The upcoming Supergirl movie is going to be adapted from the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow run that a ton of people consider to be some of the greatest comics of all time
man of steel an amazing movie for superman, like every movie and director it different. love this one. but even this one has a few that man of steel does better, mainly krypton was handled better.
Not Suicide Squad, THE Suicide Squad. Might only add the word The to the name, but its a MASSIVE difference. And yes, 100% MUST watch The Suicide Squad before Peacemaker.
I'm 100% for the Kindness-core/Hopeposting Superman. He WOULD save squirrels if he could.
I would literally die of happiness if you guys watched Smallville. My favorite show of all time.
This movie was fantastic
You see that Zack Snyder that is how you make a superhero movie not that super dark shit you make Snyder.
You guys need to watch Firefly
Yeah definitely watch THE Suicide squad movie before peacemaker since the show takes place shortly after the film.. Also its confirmed we're getting a green lantern show featuring the main 3 lanterns
You're thinking of Alan Scott when it comes to the distant first Green Lantern. Hal was the first Green Lantern under the concept of the Green Lantern Corps. Alan got his power from a magic meteor carved into the shape of a lantern (that was eventually narratively connected to Oa and the Guardians like the regular Green Lantern rings). John Stewart and Hal Jordan have a live action series coming up.
As for things you should watch, like you said Peacemaker should be a priority. And you'll want to watch The Suicide Squad, not Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad. You *can* watch Suicide Squad, as The Suicide Squad is technically a sequel. But it's not really worth it.
You guys actually have seen Mr. Terrific. He was the one Plastic Man had to save in Injustice. At least Ruff and Boom did anyway. And you loved him there too, which just goes to show that Mr. Terrific is just the perfect name.
if you want a good mr terrific and metamorphic book (which also features plastic man) I can not recommend Jeff lemires The Terrific comic enough
There is a live actions series for lanterns by James Gunn in production
2021 suicide squad is good and worth watching alongside peacemaker and creature commandos, only parts of suicide squad hold true in gunns new canon but its an awesoem movie
Ditto watch The Suicide Squad
I feel like the issue with the Zack Snyder movies where parts where great but other scenes were bad and through you off the the whole movie. If you end up watching justice league please watch the Snyder cut. Its much longer but I feel it's way better than the original.
YESSSS, I've been waiting for the perfect moment to resub and decided it was gonna be when this reaction came out. Hands down one of my favorite superhero movies ever.
I have a hate and love relationship with this movie I hate that they made clark parents uber hitlers there is no reason to of course James is trying to reverse it because he realized it was a stupid decision, but man, I hate it. I hate how weak. And pathetic of a news anchor he is despite that he should have just as much if not more experienced then lowis also the movie made less then man of steel which kind of makes me sad I hope he doesn’t stop but his writing hopefully will get better
How did it make less sense than man of steel, and how was Clark portrayed as a weak reporter?
Not arguing just asking 🤔?
What a weird thing to say
What does this even mean
It's spelled Superman, btw
Damn yall really just dropped every reaction i was waiting for on the same day... I know what I'm doing for the next few hours lol
Oh my god (to boom)
are you that guy from YouTube and Sorta Stupid!! :D
oh and boom you've actually seen mr terrific before in the injustice movie
i wished you guys just watched Superman 1978 movie to Superman 2006, and watch Synderverse Movies
also its Superman not Super-Man just no
haha reverse Spider-Man dilemma
love metamorpho
the acid he uses is the most acidic we known of at pka -31.4
And the big hammer (assuming it’s not Tungsten but it most likely is imo) might be Osmium, the heaviest metal and the scarcest
so funny to hear nathan fillion be noticed for the rookie these days, i feel like my brain automatically is befuddled that hes not just castle to everyone
Ya'll have names? I thought you were just the funny one, the cool one, the handsome one and Girl.
henry cavil pretty notably proved the glasses disguise, he wore a superman tv shirt in times square under a billboard of batman v superman for like 3 hours and nobody came up to him or noticed lmao
theres still alot of stand alone dc animated movies and a few marvel ones that are really good from lionsgate if yall want some more animated superhero movies to scratch the itch
Awesome, persuaded my therapist to see it. I love this movie, second favorite of the year. First is Sinners, KDH just got moved to third. Hope everyone is feeling better.
I saw this movie twice in theaters. I took my family to see it the second time.
Was not expecting this but I'm stoked lol. Loved this movie ❤️
YAY SEONI’S BACK!!!!
I absolutely love this movie so much
