   Also, little piece of trivia. Originally, DIO's Stand was supposed to have the power of all the other Stands in this part combined. But, that was too powerful, so Araki gave him a different ability. The way it is now, I think the Hermit Purple DIO user was actually Jonathan's Stand. I mean, it is his body from the neck down.

      That's actually false. It was a theory the fans came up with after seeing DIO use Jonathan's Stand since he possessed Jonathan's body, thinking he was copying Joseph's stand.

   The main reason they ditched Hamon for Stands as the main power source is because they had already done as much as they could with it in the last two parts. And, maybe Araki wanted to try something different going forward.
