That’s actually false. It was a theory the fans came up with after seeing DIO use Jonathan’s Stand since he possessed Jonathan’s body, thinking he was copying Joseph’s stand.
The main reason they ditched Hamon for Stands as the main power source is because they had already done as much as they could with it in the last two parts. And, maybe Araki wanted to try something different going forward.
