Not a spoiler but that whole police shootout at the beginning was no video game and no he wasn’t controlling it either, What that was is called a Braindance or BD for short. A BD is essentially a recording of the experiences of another allowing you to relive everything physically and emotionally down to the T. However the Braindance at the beginning would fall under a subcategory called Extreme Braindance or XBD which feature gruesome and bizarre scenes, including violence, torture, murder and other unsavory acts.
