YOOOO I don't know if any of y'all have read the Battle Chasers comic, or have played Battle Chasers: Nightwar, but there was a cameo shot of Garrison and Red Monika in the Slayer's Take.

From what I remember/ been told this dragon encounter happened at the end of a 5 or 8 maybe 12 hr session and either there was no combat or didn't matter because it was 12 at night and he said " roll for initiative" which is code for 1-3hr combat begins so it was a surprise on both ends pc and them and grogs attack that broke his axe was a 20/23? To hit he missed the first at 19 and when he did hit well we know

Fun fact they had and will always have trouble with doors you don't just fix a skill issue also the door grog held to block the fire because door are a godly construct that warrant worship and fear for blocking an ancient dragons breath and survive

You should look up "Matt Mercer Victor Cosplay" he dressed up like him for Halloween(?) once and it was great!

I think this is where they start getting crafty with splicing the plot of the campaign together and tweaking things here and there.

This part of the Camapign is where one weakness of Vox Machina as a group becomes prominent. They don't have any offensive caster. Offensive casters are Wizards, Sorcerers and Warlocks. VM's main source of damage is Grog but as you can see that against an airborne enemy he is kind of useless. This forces Keyleth and Pike to be the casters. But Keyleth is a Circle of the Moon Druid who excel at being tanks due to their proficency is shapeshifting. They can do it but aren't well suited to casting. That's why you'll notice that Keyleth shapeshifts so rarely despite it being her primary subclass feature

Funny thing is later on in the campaign when they would multiclass into other classes none of still took a single class into an offensive caster.

Ok so in DnD there are two kinds of Dragons. Metallic Dragons and Chroma Dragons. Metallic dragons like Gold dragons are actually Lawful good who worship the god Bahamut and sometimes turn to humanoids and try to help people in need. Chroma dragons like Red and Blue dragons are the evil ones. They worship the evil deity Tiamat. That's where the name Chroma Conclave comes from.

the big ass red dreagon Thordak is voiced by Lance Reddick who sadly passed away in March only a few month after the episode aired

on a more positive note, a fun fact, Lance Reddick has stared in two Godzilla movies (Godzilla from 1998 and Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021), and now he got to fire his own giant Godzilla laser

also about his casting, Matt Mercer said, "Me and Marisha were through like, our fourth viewing of The Wire over the pandemic. And we’ve been large fans of Lance [Reddick, who played Lt. Cedric Daniels on the HBO drama], both in that and Corporate and many of the projects in Destiny. And we were just like, 'We’ll try, I don’t know if it’ll work out.' And he’s one of the many people that said yes, and then knocked it out of the park."
