Love the reactions, but just a heads up this season is a lot more interconnected and complex than the last, and it’s ~slightly~ annoying to hear to guys predict stuff so far out of left field especially when it was opening explained and you missed it. Like that girl was def not gonna be evil, she was just a scientist with a crush on the human scientist, and the badge didn’t mean anything, it was showing she was part of the science division alongside the other alien guy who also explained in depth why he was a good guy. Seriously love the reaction, but that convo was pretty important and yall were stuck talking abt how that girl was probably evil. Just pause more when you discuss or joke around, it’s all really great and I love seeing yall talk, but this season is sortve the best one (IMO) and there’s a lot of moving parts you gotta pay attention to

so the show is called Young Justice based loosely on the Team and comics of the 90's-00's. They probably chose this young hero team so is not to feel like they're recycling the success of Teen Titans. Problem is that it feels Teen Titans like because they still used Wally West Kid Flash, Roy Harper Speedy, and Dick Grayson Robin as founders instead of Tim Drake Robin and others. The time skip is to kinda normalize the Young Justice team to it's proper roster like Tim, this blonde Wonder Girl (yes there is a Wonder Girl before this one in comics that was a Titan), Blue Beatle and many others. Funny thing, they're still bringing in TT characters like Bubblebee, Malcom who has three different hero personas in comics he's gone through (won't spoil which one shows up here), and Barbra Gordan Batgirl. Admittedly, I almost think this season is borderline better than the first because of how diverse the team is and how extra deep the show goes into the larger DC universe. Season 1 did an amazing job of doing that, letting the young heroes be our eyes exploring outside their mentor's cities, but this season gets super deep, starting with superhero Adam Strange and his adventures on Rann.
So the death of BB's mom was covered in a comic. Turns out Queen Bee targeted her (for a reason I forget). QB's powers only affect people who are attracted to women, so she controlled Mrs. Logan long enough to have her drive off of a cliff. BB found the aftermath.
So in comics Beast boy gets his powers at 3-4 years old, his parents were scientists studying a green monkey in the rainforest that bit him and to save his life he is injected with a serum to save him but turns him green. His parents die shortly afterwards in a boating accident where he turns into a bird the first time to save himself but couldn't save his parents and watches them drown.
oh. i do not think the superman w or w/o trunks is a debate you guys would want to step into.especially since it's one of the main arguments going into James Gunn's DCU v the Snyderverse. That said it's an argument comic book fans seem to have been having for decades and not one where there will ever be winners.
Oh btw Beast Boy this season is voiced by one of the Gumball actors
"Guy in the back" is Mal Duncan. AKA the big guy from M'Gann and Conners High School. I don't know too much about him but he's a super old-school Teen Titans character. One of his superhero identities in the comics was The Herald. That trumpet guy you saw in Teen Titans
Yeah the OG young Justice comics team is mainly Superboy, Robin (Tim, not Dick since Dick was already a grown man at this point) Wonder Girl and a version of Kid Flash
(Not Wally, because Wally was also a grown man and took over as the Flash at this point). A lot of this IS just a Teen Titans show but using the Young Justice name to have a clear distinction with the older cartoon
So if you have any interest in learning all about ehat happened during the 5 year rime skip, that's what the young justice comics mostly cover. They came out a bit after season 2, and are still coming out
So, one elephant to address though. I won't put it here due to spoilers, but if I remember right S2 starts a bit oddly because they tried to tie the story together with a YJ video game. I remember being pretty lost at first until I looked into it. I don't remember how important those details were, so I'm just going to warn that there was a weird gap in the story between S1 and S2
10:30 Icon and hawkman are aliens
Is this version of Hawkman an alien? I know some versions he is, some he's a human with a reincarnating spirit with Hawkgirl, some times he's both. Some times the ancient Egyptian Hawks were inspired by Thanagarians who came to Earth and so Hawkgirl modern day is a Thanagarian. Their comic history is wild to keep track because of the Golden Age, Silver Age, Modern Age, and then any reboots they've done in the past almost 20 years.
Them correctly identifying Lobo as a biker is hilarious in conjunction with Eric correctly guessing how Superman shaves with his laser vision, they're starting to really get in touch with the DC Universe's vibes

Mal is from their High School, same with his girlfriend bumblebee in season 1. It's very much the same show just with a time skip guys.
Young Justice was a long running comic book title as well so it fits.
You know, they made some tie-in comics for Young Justice just like they did for Teen Titans. In one of those issues, we saw Queen Bee enthrall Beast Boy's mom into driving herself off a cliff.
You know you guys should pause when you go on side tangents so you don't miss stuff.
Big agree, to be fair I do love their tangents lol, its a big part of why their channel is so fun, but we can have the best of both worlds here

Hard agree to disagree about Superman's suite. The red trunks is a more unique look that works with the color scheme of his outfit. The all blue or red belt just looks more generic and not as interesting 🤔.
I agree color wise but still think the trunks are outdated. Personally I think they should make it like Spiderman's, it's just apart of the suit
All nightwings are Dick Grayson. It is interesting that they skipped Robin's though. Imagine the stories they could've had with Jason Todd
Lobo is ridiculous if you know his lore. We all know superman is overpowered in the comics, and most versions of Lobo can go toe to toe with Superman. He is literally so crazy that he is denied the ability to die because heaven and hell do not want him and I think he destroyed purgatory

season 3 episode 7 is prolly my favorite of the whole series
First Robin is always Dick Grayson he becomes Nightwing, Second Robin is Jason Todd and u seen how bro dies and what happens to him and the third Robin is Tim Drake.
You will discover more of what happened during the time skip as episodes go by and I can't wait
wonder girl is cassie sandsmark she has flight, strength , and some level of invulnerability she is wonder woman's second sidekick she is technically a demi-god and her father is zeus. there is another wonder girl called Troya/Donna Troy she is not shown

they didn't name it teen titans because young justice and teen titans are two different teams in the comics

Facts. Honestly I prefer em cause 8 times outta 10 suits without the look go for heavily armored or just have a bunch of sectioned portions of the suit and alot of lines running all over. Yknow, that MCU-ify critique alot of folks throw at most suits nowadays.
