I was so excited to see that you were watching Trigun Stampede!! It’s so good! I haven’t ever read or seen the original. (I do want to eventually!)
The music hits so hard in so many moments too.
A lot of the reason Stampede wasn’t as hyped up was for multiple reasons: Many people hated the 3d art style and design alterations SO MUCH that they review-bombed the hell out of it. They hated the story alterations (I’ll admit I miss the more western-leaning vibes of the original show and manga). They hated how the story isn’t exactly the same and it isn’t fully stated what’s happening from the get go.
Stampede DOES have faults. It does have a slight pacing issue (One episode specifically, but the poor thing is a half-season show, so it was gonna happen). Trigun Maximum is a bit of a hefty manga that definitely needs way more than even the original anime got to fully develop the story and cast. I fully trust Studio Orange with the story because they personally worked alongside Nightow with this reimagining. I’m so excited to see the next season whenever it drops.
They had to compete with people disliking both CGI as well as a new take on a well liked 90s anime. They’re different but I like this one a lot.
