Depending on what theory you believe in, time can either be predestined, or everchanging. The way Garnet's power works is simple: Time for her is like a river. It flows, bends, branches and ends. Whenever a choice is made in the present, we go down a 'branch' in the river, never to return from whence we came. The multiverse comes into play through those other branches that weren't taken. Garnet can't PRECISELY see what the future will exactly be, she can just see different possiblities before they happen and make guesses on which path will play out. Like being able to watch a movie and make guesses based on what we've been given. And of course, since she knows what paths to take, she can nudge things along toward a specific path. As she said, she has the 'map', and can 'steer the ship' in different directions.

This episode must have been so heartwarming for children of divorce or kids who felt unwanted or like mistakes. When you remember this show was made for kids, you start to see all the amazing messages they added for them. Rebecca and the team made a really amazing show

Obviously doesn't matter now, but I feel like the people upset that you don't like Pearl are all blinded by the bias of hindsight. Pearl is great AFTER you learn more about her and she develops as a character. This early on, she's an obsessive, over-protective, neurotic mess.
