I also am on the edge of my seat whenever there's any obvious romantic tension between Loid and Yor, but I mainly think of SxF as a gag manga/gag anime in which the main goal is humor, and everything else is secondary (after watching an analysis video on SxF from Mother's Basement on YT). It's a nice bonus that there are fantastic moments of action, tension, and sweetness that pop up. After all, if the secrets are never revealed and if the romantic relationships are not progressing, there's always fan fiction and fan art that fulfills the need.
