As Anna said, Chaos Sonic(this Robot Sonic) is an og character for this series, but it's not the first Robot copy Sonic has had. It's Metal Sonic , he was introduced alongside Amy Rose in Sonic CD, so yeah, it's weird how Prime doesnt acknowledge Metal Sonic considering Amy exists lol kid Amy went to Little Planet because her fortune cards told her she would meet her hero/soulmate there, where she met Sonic and fell in love at first sight, but moments after got surprised-kidnapped by Metal Sonic and Sonic goes to rescue her.
He's very ....serious to say the least lol Metal Sonic would have hated Chaos Sonic, Metal is not able to speak most of the time, but the few times he does he sounds like an edgelord

Sonic Prime continuity is so weird and its placement just feels like an oversight, cause Sonic is acting like he's never seen a robot version of himself, which doesn't make sense , I really don't know why they even tried to give this show a placement in the canon

You can play as Nine on the Mobile game Sonic Forces Speed Battle, but you had to unlock him

Sonic Frontiers is an open world game, but to be honest it will probably disappoint you. The game play is decently fun, and it has an alright story. But the open world is shockingly bland. With all the really unique environments you see in Sonic, they really managed to miss the mark entirely. The open world in Frontiers feels like a place holder or something from a different game. With a bunch of generic platforms that just 'float' around that don't fit the landscape at all. Whoever did the art direction of Frontiers needs to seriously get fired. I still recommend you play Sonic Adventure 1+2. Shadow the Hedgehog, and Generations is also a blast. And I guess eventually play Frontiers, just don't get your hopes up for it.

Chaos Sonic is indeed a Sonic Prime original, but Eggman did in fact make his own Sonic called Metal Sonic in the games. his debut is in Sonic CD(a game) and there's an animated movie with him in it I'd recommend checking out at some point. the movie is called Sonic the Hedgehog: the Movie OVA (1996), or Sonic OVA for short. there should be multiple places where you can watch it, including Youtube.

Gah,I love this series so much. Again, so happy that you're enjoying it so much. Sonic Frontiers is the open world sonic you're looking for. That's one of the reasons I've not played it yet; I'm not really an open world game kinda person. Hyped if you're really doing sonic cutscenes. I think I'd argue to stay away from Sonic Adventure 2, if that's the case, since it may or may not spoil the third sonic movie, I've no idea. Either way, excited for you to make your way to season 3.
