Yea... the wait between these two chapters, and next one was... a thing....
Not only did we have to wait after episode 11. It was a 2 week wait, because they took a break for Christmas.
Oh no, I binged all 5 season to catch up and it only took me 3 days, I've made a terrible mistake, now I gotta be week to week like everyone else XD

The part of V5 that I don't care for isn't any of the buildup, there was some good stuff there, it's that the finale doesn't really pay off on all that buildup IMO. The finale was the part of the V5 that disappointed me. It's got some good stuff, but I'm gonna be honest, these two episodes were the ones I rewatched the least, so I'm reacting to this stuff right alongside you guys. Forgot how pretty the tree looks at least. Jaune going off on Cinder was at least good.

The thing with rooster teeth was that if you paid for a membership, you'd get the episodes a week early and when episode 11 dropped, I could NOT wait a whole week for the free version of episode 12 and signed up lol
Leo, along with Qrow, Ironwood, Glynda, and Ozpin are all based on Wizard of Oz characters, Leo is the Cowardly Lion, that's why he's such a little bitch, he has no courage.

Wasn't episode 11 on Christmas or Thanksgiving or something? It was always a holiday with RWBY episode cliffhangers, if I'm remembering right.

You know what, I think it was Dec 30th for FIRST members, so maybe I am thinking New Year's? I have a vague memory of being stressed out about RWBY around one of the other major holidays though! Maybe it was a different cliffhanger. 😆

Vernal is Latin for Spring (as in the vernal equinox) Raven literally telegraphed to Cinder that Vernal wasn’t the spring maiden. It also probably means Vernal isn’t even her real name.

Since I am rewatching this volume after it coming out on a week-to-week basis, I actually don't remember much as to why I wasn't as excited. Granted I am watching this on a week-to-week basis still but with two episodes per reaction video compared to one, I got to say that I am liking this more than I did before. I have my overall opinion but that requires spoilers and I want you guys to have those opinions as we go along.
Yeah the Raven twist basically caught everyone off guard, at least from what I seen, but rewatching is such a reward cause you can see the hints of it being Raven. Volume 4 and 5 RWBY was basically finding it's stride after Monty passed away. Vol 6 is when it was significant improvement. You can definitely see it when you get there. In my opinion gets better from there

Originally, in Volume 4, his height was originally meant to be 6'3. However, it's later confirmed to be exactly 8', making him the tallest human character in the show!
Hazel (as well as his sister, Gretchen) are allusions to the fable of Hansel and Gretel! The story of two children being taken in by a Witch (Salem), but with a twist! Rather than the two kids killing the witch, Gretel died, and Hansel stayed with the witch.
Not necessarily a spoiler, as some of the allusions are pretty obvious from the get go, but for the most part, Salem's little followers are all based on hero characters from stories (Tyrian being an exception, i guess?)
Cinder Fall is Cinderella. All I will say on the matter, but that one is very on the nose.
Hazel is mentioned above to be Hansel from Hansel and Gretel.
Arthur Watts is based off John Watson from Sherlock and Holmes, but if he were working alongisde Moriarty, the villain, instead.
Tyrian is based off the fable of the Scorpion and the Frog. The scorpion is neither a hero nor a villain- just a scorpion, whos actions are led by nature itself. A scorpion, when threatened, will always sting.
Raven's reveal as the Maiden is so hype, and it's also cool to look back at all the hints. When Vernal was "showing off her powers", Raven put on her mask. Vernal also never had fire light up in her eyes. Raven was purposefully hiding the fact she was a maiden.
So excited to see yalls reaction to not only the end of this season, but also season 6!
just as a reminder cuz it's been a bit since it came up in the show, but Cinder has the capability to forcible take maidens powers. If vernal WAS the spring maiden and cinder hit her with that hand of hers, cinder would have gotten the powers regardless of who vernal wanted them to pass on to.
Also earlier this volume (maybe last volume?) Salem told cinder to bring Ruby back alive, so cinder saying to keep ruby alive isn't her decision and I believe she wanted to just kill her.
