This movie isn't under-rated it does struggle in the middle with the plot slowing down too much. It is still liked well enough by most Disney fans.
Now that I've seen Hazbin Hotel it makes me giggle that Keith David went from being a Shadow Man in this movie to being a demon who sold his soul to a Shadow Man in HH lol.

I don’t normally do headcanons, but I do love the one where Big Daddy had a deal that he would finance the restaurant, buy the equipment and the starting food and all that, but only after Tiana works and earns for the building.

GODDDD I'm glad that this is finally here!! It's honestly my top Disney movie, especially since its one of the last hand animated one :(( Super off topic but you guys should watch Bob Trevino likes it. Especially if the part with Tiana's dad makes you tear up, that movie will wreck you.
Love this movie and music but watching this with nephew pointed out that the melodies of a lot of the songs are from other Disney movies like Lion King and Aladdin. I never noticed it before.. so we looked it up apparently it was done deliberately so kids would feel like they knew them.
Lei motif is actually something a lot of musicians do to give their work a kind of sense of nostalgia or familiarity, also adds an almost trademark melody with their songs.
for example Toby Fox puts tons of lei motif in both Undertale and Deltarune soundtrack to give you a sense of familiarity and it actually makes you feel nostalgic based on how you associate the familiar melody to other past tracks.
I don’t know what it is, but it drives a real sense of excitement and nostalgia and kind of makes the music hit even harder because of it, at least for a lot of people.

I really do love Charlotte. She quite easily could of been a spoiled rich mean girl that looked down on Tiana. But she was a supportive friend all the way through, her friendship to Tiana was priority over a prince. And she was always loooking for ways to help Tiana out even though she knew Tiana isn’t the type to accept hand me outs.
As one youtuber said Charlotte is the definition of spoiled sweet. Having her dad send business Tiana's way and you think she just happened to have a dress that perfectly fits Tiana and suits her colour wise when the rest of her wardrobe is pink without it being made specifically for Tiana.

something I never realized about the beginning of this film that I absolutely love is how, at the end of the first song "Down in New Orleans", we see all the main players of the story framed in one spot, in a manner similar to an old stage play or fairy tale.
