Yoda really went ✌️➡️
The Empire Blew up the planet where Leia was raised
As far back as I remember, Boba Fett was present in Empire Strikes Back and this film. Once Clone Wars took off, they went back and adjusted his voice to match Jango Fett, to reference the fact that he’s a direct clone.
One of the things Lucas did really well was unique designs and looks for worlds, outfits, and aliens. It makes the universe feel more alive than other sci-fi that copy and paste a few looks over several movies.
First time we see a green saber in Star Wars btw
Glad yeah enjoyed. These where a blast. Looking forward to when you get to the prequels. I'll make popcorn. 🎃👍💜🍿
Some of my fav glup shittos in this film: Nien Nunb, Salacious B. Crumb, my goat Rappertunie!!
Don't forget Sy Snootles lol
Ey shoutout to Dylan, your galaxy is in good hands
With the Leia thing, originally Lucas wanted to introduce Lukes sister in this movie but didn't have time so Leia became his sister, it adds some weird context and obviously their kiss but in real life separated twins do experience this as they naturally draw to each other but it gets misconstrued as romantic or something, so it isn't as weird as people make it out to be.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed the Ewoks as much as I always have. Gotta love murderous teddy bears.
Return of the Jedi never fails to hit hard with the nostalgia. As an adult I enjoy it for different reasons than I did as a kid, and the things I used to love about it don’t feel as exciting as they did back then. But the overall sense of determination and hope throughout the movie, Vader’s progression from resigned obedience to the Emperor to finally stopping him to save his son who somehow still believes in him, and the final scene of celebrations across the galaxy now that the Empire is crumbling and the people are free — they do make me feel like a kid again, believing that good will always overcome evil in the end. I’m glad you guys get to enjoy these movies now, and I look forward to following your reactions if you continue on to the Prequels!
fun fact, in the first trilogy, A LOT of the backgrounds were hand painted and the thing they used to record the moving ships was a 3 layered black and white cropping with the ships being actual miniature pieces (also the voice of Darth Vader and the in-set actor are two different ppl so Carl Earl Jones did the voice and i don't recall who did the physical acting but i do remember crew members saying it was so non-threatening it was too funny).
2nd Fun Fact: Both Star Wars and The Lion King take HEAVY inspirations from shakespeare's Hamlet (among others) as their base story
Body work was David Prowse as I recall
To answer the question on why come questions were visibly CGI among the puppets and prosthetics:
Lucasfilm has made mutiple changes to the films since they first came out. As movie technology got better, they would add things they weren't able to originally. The singers in Jabba's palace are particularly noticeable.
And finding the original unedited versions is basically impossible nowadays, think before Disney took over Lucas pulled all the old ones and the contract he and Disney signed also only includes the digital touch up ones, the originals are in a vault or gone forever unless you own those ones, which would be worth a shit ton to collectors.
And as a follow up to the Jabba question: Here he is a puppet, fully practical and in camera. In the first movie you saw, the scene with "Jabba" was filmed with a human actor, who was later replaced by a CGI Jabba. This was not till AFTER all three movies had been released.
