The tearing the food isn't an eating disorder thing (at least, not inherently for him). It stems from his OCD (eating foods in a specific way at the right time in the right circumstances). In this case, he feels that he has to tear his sandwich into pieces before eating them. I have a very similar experience with OCD, though it hasn't gotten as severe as Charlie's to where it is an eating disorder. I sometimes feel the strong urge that I HAVE to eat something in a specific way, and even though I can ignore it much more easily now, I still get a strong feeling of discomfort whenever I don't listen to that voice. I think they did an amazing job with showcasing that part of OCD before introducing that diagnosis to the audience.

Technically, the world of Heartstopper began with Tori. The creator of the comic wrote a book from Tori’s POV (that is actually set in the time of S3,E6) and Nick and Charlie were side characters. Over time they realized that Nick and Charlie were interesting characters who had their own story to tell and Heartstopper the webcomic began. The web comic is pretty close to the show, but a little bit different and much more Nick and Charlie focused than the tv show. But all the plot points are the same. 🫶

Song of Achilles is fantastic. Shit's a modern classic.

Fun fact! Darcy's gender identity story wasn't part of the books, but was added in due to their actors (Kizzy) personal exploration with their gender identity, which as of now involves being transmasc and using both he/him and they/them pronouns!
I've always loved the way they chose actors that could really relate to their character, so adjusting Darcy to match Kizzy's journey feels like a very sweet gesture to me :)
Also, I am so happy you got your mom into Heartstopper! That's so sweet, I hope she enjoyed it!

Great reaction as usual or at least of what I've watched lol... which is a good bit on YouTube. Just joined the Patreon mainly for this reaction but about to explore.

The character of Charlie always didn’t like Marvel even in the graphic novels. The irony of it now is just funnier since Joe is in Marvel now.

How come Song of Achilles didn't have a sad ending? I cried for like 40 minutes, it was heartbreaking

*spoilers* Because they were reunited when Thetis added his name to the tomb. They got to be together forever

You're correct there is a book about Tori called Solitaire! It was actually Alice's debut novel, so it came out before Heartstopper. And It's described as " a dark story about mental illness" compared to Heartstopper which is "A happy, romantic, and uplifting graphic novel"
I genuinely wonder if they'll add some of Toris story into Heartstopper as a series, keep her as more of a side character, or if maybe they'll give her a separate show or movie.

The events of Solitaire happen during the winter time of this season. The only thing from Solitaire that seemed to have kept for Heartstopper is Charlie's hospitalization, his relapse, and Tori meeting Michael (though in a different way). Most of the other large events were not included. I feel like the only way they could show Solitaire on screen is as a separate movie or show, detached from Heartstopper.

I'd honestly be down for a totally separate series or movie for Tori! She's one of my favorite characters. But it just doesn't feel likely to happen.

Same. I was introduced to Solitaire first when it originally came out and really love it.
