Yeah, “reverse the ciphers” is referring to the cryptograms getting more complicated going forward, as you’d have to combine all 3 types of codes used thus far to translate some of them. Also yes, they knew they were getting a second season, but between 1 and 2, Alex Hirsch’s writing buddy left due to fatigue, which Alex was also feeling, so Alex told Disney they were to absolutely not greenlight a third season and it was going to end with 2. That said, Season 2 is DENSE!
