   I find this point a very interesting part of the DBZ storyline, as theories I have about the Domino effect of Trunk's interference is pretty interesting. I think that if he hadn't stepped in, the fight with Frieza, and king cold would have lasted a bit longer. Goku would have done his thing of not jumping in until the last minute, giving his friends a chance to fight. I think this would have clued in Dr Gero, who we find out later has been spying on Goku, to the fight. His spy bots would have learned that Goku can go super Sayin, and this would have changed his plans to try and use Android 17/18, even though they weren't ready. Since he never learns about Goku's massive boost in power, it leads him to underestimating his abilities, thus leaving the Androids on the back burner.

   If I were Trunks, I would have stayed and trained for those three years with the guys. That makes way more sense to me.

      I think he was too worried about mudding up the timeline further than he already did. Though at that point he already did make a branching timeline, so yeah, he probably could have just committed to it at that point.
