  1. I honestly love the Fire Nation Resistance in the opening of this episode. They remind me of the German Resistance who attempted to assassinate Hitler numerous times.

  2. I really like the liberties this episode took for blending several key episodes. I see a couple ways how it could be improved though. One, they didn’t explain how/why the wheelchair kid had a glider on his chair. I mean maybe they were just like his dad’s an inventor, so maybe why not. But them being in Omashu, having an earthbending theme chair just makes more sense. Of course in show they had grown up in an abandoned Air Temple and wanted to preserve the culture while making a life for them, but for this episode at least, nothing was mentioned for that. I think this could’ve been done in several other ways, to still be different than the cartoon. One, a flashback of him as a kid being fascinated with Airbender culture, and his dad inventing the chair for him as a gift. Second, maybe Aang does some really cool display of him airbending through the skies of Omashu, and then him asking his dad to make him a glider chair and ask Aang to show him how to fly.

One other note, so far this live action show has given several good moments for Katara to help save the day, as well as Aang/Avatar state Aang. Sokka so far has helped protect Suki mostly as Katara has begun to learn bending. But with the Jet episode in the cartoon, that was one of the biggest Ws for Sokka for helping evacuate the town, as a non bender, and even though Katara and Aang did stop Jet in the cartoon, Sokka was needed to stop his plan. But here, Katara stopping the arrow with her water bending may show her now becoming a great bender, but it takes away some big development for Sokka’s character. I just hope Sokka will be given some more heroic moments in this Live Action, since bending is cool, but I don’t want Sokka to just be seen as a side character. Especially given the controversial decision of removing his character growth past sexism over the show, for this live action.

Well, it is very enjoyable so far, so I’m excited to see what direction this takes next. And I just have these suggestions not to be overly critical for not being just the same story, I just dislike if a story is going to take its own path, for it then to just remove plot points, and not replace them with similarly important ones to fit the adjusted story.
