Damon's blood was in Caroline's system (it's now she recovered in the hospital), Katherine knew that and killed her to turn her. So while it was Damon's blood, he didn't know Caroline had been turned because no one knew Katherine killed her.

K can't side with bonnie here caroline got injured because she lied about draining the magic from that device and she agreed to let damon give her the blood it's not at all his fault this time lol

No Bonnie was in the right even though she technically didn't know it. Damon quite literally is one of the main reasons everything has happened to them so far along with Stephan. She has lost multiple people close to her due to his schemes and Katherine clearly used Caroline as a message to both of them. It's also worth noting that that man died because of something Damon did which caused him to bleed out and attract Caroline. He is also, in all ways right now...evil. Damon is a remorseless killer and psycho and actually deserved to be it down. Stephan and Elena right now are his only redeemable factors and I'm not going to get into how THAT isn't a good thing.
