I would love to see you all watch Indiana Jones, The Mummy really does have the same vibe.

Also, every time Benni speaks it sounds like Bartok, if any of you have seen Anastasia and know who that is.

You should absolutely watch it if you haven't.

The Mummy with Tom Cruise is also something you guys have to check out. Everybody hated it when it came out, but I kinda like it and I don't even like Tom Cruise that much.

Watch mummy 2.  Fun watch.  I never watched mummy 3, despite having one of my favorite martial artists as the role of villain.  I think it was rated really bad.

It's a bit of an investment, but you guys might also like Lawrence of Arabia (1962). Both it and The Mummy were filmed in Morocco. Obviously it doesn't have supernatural elements like this, but a great, classic piece of cinema for sure.

After all the discussion about horses vs camels, I really think you guys should watch Hidalgo, which is about a horse race in the desert

Absolutely should watch The Mummy Returns. The Scorpion King film series is a loose prequel, but really just the character itself is featured in the next Mummy film. The 3rd one isn't necessary, but still somewhat fun featuring mummies in China.

There's also an animated series The Mummy (2001 - 2003) that was really good. It was also loosely based on The Mummy and serves as an alternative sequel to The Mummy Returns. They had a pretty stellar cast with John Schneider as Rick O'Connell, Grey DeLisle (voiced Azula, Sam from Danny Phantom, etc.) as Evy, Tom Kenny as Jonathan, and Jim Cummings as Imotep. That would be a fun series to watch too.

Also to answer your question with the priests fight. There is nothing there. He was just swinging a sword. Animator team win for sure. It looks great!

As a bonus y’all should react to Scorpion King, it was my introduction to the Rock, and it’s a classic. Not meant to be taken seriously but a fun action movie nonetheless. But definitely the Mummy 2, that’s my personal favorite of the series as it’s a nice continuation and has humor. Movie 3 is a fun action movie but I didn’t think it was all that special, plus Rachel Weiz wasn’t in it so that was a bummer.

I hope yall watch the 2nd and 3rd. The 3rd is certainly the weakest of the trilogy, but its still worth the reaction.

So fun fact this movie is a remake of a 1932 boris karloff movie, and is one of the first pieces of modern mummy movies, the movie before it being in 55 with abbot and Costello meets the mummy

Fun fact. Arnold Vosloo who played Imhotep didn't know how to speak English when he was making The Mummy.

I can answer your question regarding the fight scene against the mummies to save Evelyn : Brendan Fraser choreographed his movements, and all the mummies were added later via CGI. There wasn't anything there, just him flailing around.

Ardeth, the Magi, was actually supposed to die at the end of the movie, but Stephen Sommers, who directed the movie, said he was "too heroic to be killed off", so he was kept alive.

Brendan Fraser almost died during the scene where he was hanged. He actually stopped breathing and they had to resuscitate him.

The camel refusing to move when Beni tried to make it move after getting the gold out of the chamber was not entirely on purpose. For some reason, every camel in the movie hated Beni's actor, Kevin O'Connor.

You should definitely watch at least the second movie, I won't spoil anything but you can expect the cast to return. It's awesome and just as enjoyable as the first movie. I don't remember much about the third movie, only that it's not about Egypt, and they had to cast someone else for Evelyn because the original actress refused Universal's offer for the role since she had to take care of her newborn child. The third movie is also way less appreciated by the fans and considered a disappointment (though I only saw it once a long time ago, so I don't remember much from it)

Mummy 2 has the same character and is I would say up to similar standard as Mummy 1. It has some adged cgi but it is still good. The third mummy has the same male lead but different female lead. Not as good so it is more if you want to see it or not. But I always enjoyed these movies. I had a huge crush on Ardeth Bay.

There are no words for how I much I love the first two movies of this franchise! These were my pan-awakening. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz together, yo casting knew exactly what they were unleashing. Then 90% of the rest of the cast... yeah. 🔥💗🔥

And then they made that shitty third movie and five shitty prequels about the Scorpion King, a character no one really cared for. Yeah, I bet you didn’t know there were five of those. That’s because the last four were direct to video.
