Last week I was wondering why I dropped this show after season 1, and within 5 minutes into the first episode, I got a strong case of gay envy lol

David’s reaction to Nick being bi is unfortunately a very real phenomenon called bi erasure. It happens with men and women but is more prevalent for men. The mentality is that a bisexual person is just a closeted gay/lesbian who isn’t willing to come out yet.

Literally, or even worse, they just don't get what being bi means. When I was first discovering my sexuality, I started telling some people I was bi, even if it was internet strangers just cause I felt like I needed to say it to others to confirm it within myself. Some dude literally responded with "oh so you like being with a man and a woman at the same time" like bruh, NO, that's not what it means.
There're even people who believe bisexuals or pansexuals would be massive cheaters just because of the fact that they like more than one gender. Or the people who think that if you're bi and in a relationship with the opposite gender then- "you're not bi you're straight then" and vice versa with the same gender. It's just so frustrating fr

The bi erasure is actually so crazy like even as a woman so many people say I shouldn’t lie about liking men as well or even queer people will count me out as a society we gotta do better 💀

I'm so glad that you're enjoying this series! Heartstopper is so good. Both at LGBTQ+ representation and just a nice introduction to people outside of it. I'm so excited to see you continue the series and g o o d n e s s Season 3 is gonna be even more interesting and deep.

Season 2 is definitely the start of the pain, and it only gets worse from here!
One thing I really love about this show is how Nick is very consistent in correcting everyone who calls him "gay" bi-erasure is a huge issue in the LGBTQ+ community. A lot of people tend to think if you're bisexual and dating someone of the same sex you're just gay, and if you're dating the opposite sex you're straight. Like your sexuality changes constantly or something. But no matter who you're dating you're still bisexual. So it's nice seeing the effect of people dismissing his sexuality and him standing firm and correcting them every time. Its a very nice touch.

I gotta say, I was wholeheartedly convinced Tori was a figment of Charlie’s imagination up until the bonfire episode.

Fun fact: those three rugby guys can be seen in the background of the theater last season clearly feeling uncomfortable by Harry’s comments.

I love Imogen. She gets a lot of flack, but honestly she is an amazing representation of a kid who is desperate to fit in, defensive, and tries too hard. So, like a real teenager. They haven't confirmed it, but I have my suspicions she is also supposed to represent a group I feel doesn't gets as much notice as others. I firmly believe she is most likely demiromantic. It's why she is develops crushes and feelings for people she has known for awhile and is already friends with. Hence Nick and then Ben when she realized Nick didn't have feelings for her. Poor girl is just a girl. She's sometimes very brave, but normally in the wrong circumstances. 🩷💛🩵
