Appropriately, Caleb's VA in the Japanese dub is Shin-Ichiro Miki, aka Roy Mustang
Caleb/ Liam O'Brien IS War in Darksiders btw Boom XD
I do like the Might Nein more than Vox Machina, I felt Vox struggled to keep its plot engaging; but the writers learned from that and it shows in the Might Nein.
I'd be happy to run a short session if you really wanted to try it out
A sorta stupid campaign would absolutely eat
This been awesome yea I understand that, like waiting suck but it's the anticipation and build up makes it hit harder
You guy should do a Baldur Gate 3 run its video game D&D
"He sounds like War in Darksiders"
That's because he is War in Darksiders. Liam was War's VA. He's also Gara in naruto and a fuck ton of other huge VA roles.
it's funny I like the monk can't remember her name in the og campaign but here in the show she is insufferable holy shit
she was worse in the start of the og believe me at lease in the show she has some reason .
It's been a long time since I watched Campaign 2, but iirc she starts like that.
Mighty Nein's Finale (Episode 8) is apparently going to release on the Monday (22nd), according to Prime.
As someone who watched campaign 2 as it came out. You guys are in for a treat. Legit its cool we get to see this backstory now, in the campaign is was WAY longer of a wait and they did the original campaign justice in this animation. It gets even MORE intense and involved. I am so excited and love watching you guys react!
I would suggest doing a head count between Vox Machina and M9, you might realise a voice is missing from this cast
Also important, some spells are with components, some are with hand signs, some are with vocals and some are a combination of the 3. The higher the spell, the more expensive it normally is. You have leveled spells and also cantrips. Cantrips can normally be used anytime you want. There are also rituals spell that can take up from like 10 minutes up until days. The enchanting of items is a whole other beast, but you'll maybe see when we see the best salesman ever!
Furthermore, spells use up slots, so you can also use a couple per day. At higher levels you get more slots and also level 1, 2, 3 up to 9. I'm not sure, but I think at the end you have like 9 level 1 slots and 2 or 3 level 9 slots.
You only ever get four 1st level spell slots, but at higher levels a lot of classes/subclasses have abilities to regain slots, or cast lower level magic without using a spell slot. The rules around components without a named cost are pretty loose, you can use a spellcasting focus (i.e. a wand, staff, magic sword in Fjord's case) instead of using components and only need to buy materials for certain spells that have a price. Technically you can reuse components, unless the spell says they are consumed you can keep using the same stuff and it is assumed you start the game with all the materials for the spells you know that don't have a price, but every table has it's own rules
Yeah true, I guess they took it a bit further because Liam really wanted to do it really detailed in the campaign. Also it's important to notice he is an transmutation wizard. Kinda like Full Metal Alchemist, making shit into other shit.
I think it's important to mention that the first 3 episodes of this show is before their campaign and now these episodes are from the campaign. Vox Machina started in the middle of their campaign with a little bit of their origins from the comics as flashbacks.
yeah like you dont find out there backstories until later,im on episode 57 of the campaign and only starting to find out about Calebs backstory
Midshipman Obvious is a very subtle knee-slapper, not gonna lie XD
i would 100% watch a sorta stupid dnd campaign - or any other system, like critical role's one (daggerheart)!
and try not to get too intimidated by other people's camps - there's ones that run for years, there's others that run for months - its entirely up to yall! you could 100% also try 'one-shots' which are like mini adventures that you can finish in a session or two - theyre a fantastic way to get started with any ttrpg :)
Absolutely would watch a Sorta Stupid D&D Campaign! I think you guys would have a blast and there would be some hilarious moments created both from your characters and the rolls you pass and fail!
I'd watch the shit out of a sorta stupid campaign.
Hell yea I would watch a Sorta Stupid D&D campaign! It's intimidating for everyone at first, but once you find your rhythm and table it's a life changing hobby. Also, if y'all ever take applications or need a DM, holla at your boy! Your reaction already gives your group a chemistry so it would feel almost natural imo
You're correct Bren and War from Datksiders is voiced by Liam O'brien, whom is also the VA for many iconic characters including Sephiroth from Final Fantasy, and Illidan Stormrage from world of warcraft :)
Liam was not sepharoth, that was george newborn, and then the new guy in the remake games
And Garaa, Captain Jushiro Ukitake and so much more shit. He did a ton of voices in Marvel cartoons, a lot of videogames and his latest was Thunderstruck in Dispatch. The only thing I hate about Critical Role is that Matt, Laura and Ashley are the only ones always getting mentioned, when all of them are such good voice actors. Especially Liam!
Darksiders*
I would love a sorta stupid dnd campaign
Vox had a bigger ramp up cause the show started like a thrid into their real campaign. This was done for... reasons... But with this one they are starting from the beginning, and with a whole campaign and a few more years of experience they knew how to make it better
Liam was in his bag with that scream at the end
I would absolutely watch it if you guys did a campaign.
The Mighty Nein is taking advantage of the fact that they already knew they would succeed (after looking at Vox's success) and are taking their time to establish the characters and the world very solidly right away; that, plus the higher budget being put towards the sfx animation and the spellcraft, is what has me already liking MN more than LoVM.
God I love your reactions to mighty Nein! Long time critter here! The mighty Nein is what really got me into critical role and dnd It’s just such an expansive campaign! And has so much details and drawn out relation ship dynamics. Not and caleb are my dynamic duo and Molly one of my favorites! If you did do a campaign I would so watch it! It would be amazing to see! You could even do just a short one time game to feel it out if you wanted before jumping in on! Like a chistmas special or something? That would be awesome see you all playing like elf’s that would be funny af
Less than 30 seconds in and I need y'all to make Eric play HuniePop 1/2. please....I need it in my veins XD
"He sounds like War in Darksiders" that's because Liam O'Brien voiced War lol. He's Lightningstruck in Dispatch, Doctor Strange in Marvel Rivals, Gaara in Naruto and Boruto, Grimoire Weiss in NieR Replicant, Richard Prescott in Gears 5, he was in Amphibia but is just credited as "additional voices" he was Gollum in Middle-Earth Shadow of War and Shadow of Mordor, he was in Regular Show as a character named Tango (who I honestly don't remember.) Of the cast, he might actually be the one that works the most to be honest, he just plays a lot of smaller parts compared to Laura Bailey or Travis Willingham, but he has an absolutely insane number of acting credits at 530. In fact, Laura Bailey is the only one in the main cast with more credits than Liam at 540, Matthew Mercer is in 3rd with 501, but with the except of Marisha Ray at 85, they all have over 100.
OH MY GOD I'M AN HOUR LATE BUT LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO!!!
I've been checking in several times the past few days for a new episode reaction, didn't know what the plan was. So happy to see this! But man I would've ordered a pizza if this came out earlier, might have to save episode 5 for tomorrow. :3
Ah, Thanksgiving, right... I forgor lmao
I'm constantly impressed by Sean and his ability to correlate voice actors you are correct that is war from Darksiders Liam O'Brien is a massive fan of the series and helped crowdfund and support the games release
Funny that Erik mentions that Jester is doing nothing but healing considering the actual campaign where she'd usually priotize damage or pranks over healing. "Does anybody need any healing?" "Well that's too bad I don't have any spells left."
Vox Machina and Mighty Nein have very different relationships with their campaigns, VM started well into the campaign while M9 has done a LOT more backstory, for example the Beacon the show started with didn't appear until Episode 13 of the campaign, and even then we knew nothing about it. Essek (the floating Drow) didn't appear until Episode 57.
What do you mean, Jester has always been THE CLERIK
Saw on YouTube and jumped straight her. Seeing these come to life is amazing and the emotions hit harder.
