Hope we get some good news from VIZ soon, I wonder what will fill your guys thursday spot from now on. Maybe RVB to keep it rooster teeth related, but look forward to it regardless

so now that you are caught up I can finally say: I think Penny is coming back!
There are many elements in the series that have specifically set up Penny for one last Resurrection with Polarity as her semblance. Also the fact that Penny's voice being the first one Ruby hears when Landing in the EverAfter, all the imagery of Penny, and the constant themes of Rebirth were the creators of the show screaming at us "PLEASE DON'T HATE US ABOUT PENNY! SHE WILL BE BACK!"
In the original story of Pinocchio the character died many times the two most notable being when he was strangled with his own strings and when trying to flee the Monstroso.
Other elements that feed into my theory is the fact that the Aura Transfer Machine was a plot device Twice but was not actually used once AND that they made a point to say in Volume 7 and 8 "No [she's/I'm] a part of you now" when a previous maiden died and transferred the power.
There's so many other elements and I am actively working on a theory video about it I am hoping to have out in the next month or two (I just need to have one out first about the similarities between the ending of Volume 8 and my own book that I published before volume 8 came out to further cement my validity on being able to predict where the story is going...) So if you are interested in why the writing is on the wall for best girl to come back and how it plays into over 6 different character arcs (including Oscar and Pyrrha) then maybe look out for it....

Sad you might not do RWBY Chibi because it is an absolute delight!BUUUT you should really do RWBY Beyond! It was the last thing the creators made as the ship was literally sinking week by week. There are only 4 of them (like 18mins total), and then the Volume 9 ending-animatic-teaser (15mins).
They're very good!

A lot of people never realised but the song from Volume 1 ‘Red Like Roses (Part II)’ is the most foreshadowed event. The song is an argument between two characters and its story they argue about matches 1:1 with the truth of Summer Rose leaving her family behind. That’s a 10 year long foreshadowing that is completely relegated to the music alone

Ruby internalized the hell out of her mother's death. Like despite summer being the most important figure in her early life she gets ruby rarely talks about her. Volumes 7 and 8 really sent home how much ruby breaks down when confronted with summer's fate. Can't blame her though. yang thought she was too young to get it and wrapped up about raven. Tai shut down for a decent amount of time and qrow probably drank himself to near death.

Does anyone else sympathize with the cat? He just wanted to know why his creators 'abandoned' him, why they left him alone to do their task. And he just wanted to leave his world, but he was 'lied to' by Alyx, which he felt as a betrayal. I can understand where he's coming from and I genuinely feel bad for him sometimes.

Not only that, but he was created solely because it was known the Afterans would need to return to the tree at some point to evolve and not progressively lose their minds. Unfortunately, it was overlooked that nobody could do that for the Curious Cat himself. He could share his heart to help others, but not himself. It's almost cruel on the part of his creators, but it makes sense given they were not as "experienced" at the time.

I have to recommend the RWBY x Justice League movies just for fun. It has close to 0 canonicity, but I do enjoy the character interactions! It's generally the same for RWBY Chibi, with fun skits and character interactions (and sometimes poking fun at the actual story), but I get why y'all aren't reacting to that.
RWBY Beyond (the few epilogue/transitional episodes) I 100% also have to recommend, which can be done in a single 40 minute video (I legit can't remember how long each episode is so take my guess with a grain of salt). I wonder what's going to take the RWBY slot for next week! Excited to find out :D

Two things, that happened, which make me slightly optimistic are firstly the relaunch of the soundtracks on streaming services, which were taken down shortly after the VIZ acquisition. And secondly the recent reacquisition of Rooster Teeth, which at least makes it easier to reunite the team behind RWBY and gives potential for a future involvement in possible future productions despite them not owning the IP anymore.

This ending couldn't have been better in my opinion. The fact the show had to be stopped, it left us with questions about Remnant and what's to come next, but it also wraps up this whole arc completely. They were all demoralized and felt like they'd fail and caused more damage than good. Now their hope is back again, and they are ready for a future fight.
I feel like it's only realistic for our heroes to truly feel defeated after so many losses. There had to be a point where it was too much. This volume is like therapy, and helped them finding their purpose again.
I agree, I would love to see Neo back and switch sides. Her abilities could be very useful.
Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang and Jaune have acquired a lot of knowledge when it comes to how life was created and have now a new perspective on life itself. If anything, I believe that what they've learned in this volume, in the Ever After, might be the key to defeat Salem. We'll have to see tho.

Coolio, now time for me to complain like a whining infant. I was super excited when this volume came out, I enjoyed quite a bit of it. I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland nerd and it genuinely shaped my personality as a kid so I was hype about that. Touching moments, flashy sequences, but as Sean complained a volume or two back, it's yet another volume where NOTHING HAPPENED.
Just imagine waiting for so long in anticipation to see where they fell and what happens in Vacuo only to have them do a complete freeze and remove the characters from the main stories in order to force in some character growth on what have been very flat characters if we're honest and only to bring it around to, oh yea nothing was wrong with you to begin with so we just did a full circle. Weiss is the shining example of growth because she sucked in the beginning and she naturally progressed through the story without needing this booster seat of a season. Unless they somehow tie anything that happened here into a future volume, they've made no progress on beating Salem. We just got, uh oh Summer is morally gray like Ozpin dun dun dunnn. Was that necessary? It's actually kinda boring and adding in another loose end to the many which have been left out there and this series does not do morally gray well. It just takes the mundane thing and force characters be upset about being turned into birds or keeping being an actual demigod a secret.
And on that note, Neo...wasted potential. One of the most enticing characters who's sole motivation was "You killed my boss so I literally chased you to another universe because my childhood was bad" Could've been so much more and they seem to be using the tree's rebirth as a way to just retcon the fact that she's a shallow character and she'll just pop out like a whole new butterfly. Also earlier seasons seemed to be hinting at Cinder redemption which I don't want...Lets not dbz it where all villains become allies, let's get some classic good villain/hero conflict. Sure her upbringing sucked but does that need to be an emotional crutch to make us want her to be redeemed? What if she's too far gone? This is all speculation so my complaints may be unfounded but this volume, for me it's a big tease and made me not want anymore rwby if there's going to be more baiting us into thinking any progress will be made only for the final episode to once again be oh you failed, again. We waited so long and the payoff was, hey nothing happened and now the crew is in Vacuo hanging out with the others like they were supposed to be in the beginning, literally nothing changed. So yea big disappoint but that's just my opinion, bunch of my friends absolutely love this volume and I'm like cool, not my cup of tea....I promsie no pun intended wow...

The earlier season wasn't a hint at Cinder's redemption. It's literally her origin story and why she's so evil now. If anything, you can apply what happened to the Curious Cat to Cinder. Something bad happened and forever changed her. Broke her. Those who want to change may change (Emerald, possibly Neo), and those who don't want to change, remain the same.
This whole volume here is about life, and how things beautiful can be created with a small action, and something bad can be create with betrayal and hurt. I've said it in a comment above; if anything, this volume is the key to defeating Salem. She can't be killed. But, could she get a reset? Could she be sent in the Ever After, somehow? Who knows.
Anyways, RWBY and Jaune came back with a lot of knowledge, a new perspective about life, creation and destruction, AND renewed hope they'd lost prior.
Idk I think the creators were just sneaky about the progression to destroy Salem. My guess.
