In the manga Saturn says "the Surface" not "solid ground". I would chalk this up to a translation / subtitle difference.
Yup, translation issues.
Also at times I will say the anime is a bit bad at depicting how fast some people like Sanji are also the Zoro and Lucci fight was very clearly one sided for Zoro just laying around
Sanji is my favorite crew member but doesn't bother me too much
