All the suggestions yall made are great ideas. First game should be Let's Go Eevee! Its a good basis of what Gen 1 was and looks stunning.

Yeah I also liked Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet people gave those games way too much hate especially Sword and Shield.

I agree that Sword & Shield was good, didn't deserve the hate at all imo. Scarlet & Violet had a lot of justifiable hate given how badly it looked & ran compared to other Nintendo games that were releasing on the Switch at the same time, the core game was fun tho

They stopped using mega evolution because they wanted mega evolution to be with 6th gen and wanted the other generations to have their own thing and the reason they are bringing back mega evolution is because we are going back go 6th gen which is the Kalos reigon.

I think omega ruby is probs the best game to do atm it introduces boom to mega evolution and the way pokemon works without having to play xny so he can go straight into legends za and not have 2 kalos games back to back but know the function of the gimmick

God that's tough! Visually, Sword/Shield or Scarlet/Violet make the most sense so Sean is playing Switch level games as appose to "totally real" versions of the ds games. But story wise, I mean yeah HG/SS, OR/AS, Platinum, or even just FR/LG for the pixel throwback would be awesome. The Gen 1 in me says start him at the roots with FireRed/LeafGreen, and have him grow from their, especially Nuzlocking. Arceus is just a cool game that I think Sean would enjoy best though because he'd appreciate the world of pokemon more from that perspective instead of the gym grind (the irony is not lost on me there)

I recommend brilliant diamond for Sean halfway through the gyms you can catch munchlax. I'm sure it would make him happy to catch his favorite pokemon . Also, brillant diamond isn't too far a feel from the older ones so it would be a solid first choice.

Really enjoyed watching all these trailers again, if your looking for more franchises to do this with I'd recommend Sonic or Halo. Sonic content is always great and Halo's trailers are legendary.

For Sean, Platinum for fair and engaging challenge, B&W for a bit less of challenge but a stronger narrative, HGSS for journeying in the old styles with modern mechanics, or FR/LG for a genuine original experience (og phys/spec split, etc)

They don't have it in this video but the Sun & Moon announcement teaser/trailer is so nostalgic to me, it gives me chills every time i watch it. i was like 13, fell asleep in the living room with the tv on youtube, and just woke up to "Celebrating 20 years, introducing an all new pokemon adventure" And after that announcement teaser i was SO hyped for Sun & Moon to come out, because it was my first pokemon game not on an emulator. i played fire red, emerald, black 2, soul silver, platinum etc, but never on the actual console so Sun & Moon was already special to me just for that. I watched every leak and theory video, drew my own calendar leading up to the release date, My dad didn't take me seriously when i asked him to take me to the store to buy the game so i walked there myself down a highway. dropped my phone & the GPS stopped working. Pants got caught on a fence tryina climb it. thought i'd be stuck there. Got home & showed my dad's gf my cool new game i just got from the store miles away there's not even a walmart in the town we were in, so she goes to my dad like "why tf did you let him walk to the store alone in the middle of the night" So he comes to my room and looks at me playing my 3DS & you know what he says to me, he says "son, what you playing?" 7 i says "im playing pokemon, dad" & he asks me if it's new & where i got it and i tell em yeah it's new i just walked to the store so he says i thought you were just hiding or somethin i didnt know you were seriosly walking to the store- but you know what, he was proud of me he says, and he would have taken me himself if he'd known i'd go those lengths. And to this day of alll my pokemon adventures, Pokemon Sun is still the most meaningful and memorable ive ever had.

I'd probably recommend FireRed or LeafGreen for a first time playthrough.

If anything Pokemon were some of the OG DLCs. They would sell you a third version that's like 95% stuff you've already played and 5% new stuff.

While the early games didn't have modern DLC.... you could kinda count the 3rd version as DLC. Though it meant you had to buy the game again basically.

Soul Silver is still the best game! I hope they will make a reverse game like it with Red also going to Johto

Like a Yellow version remake, where you can get all the gen 1 starters, BUT NOW can get gen 2 Starters as well when you go to Johto?! That'd be sick! Imagine the final secret ending is an unwinnable battle against Lance, where Lance wins to become the Gold/Silver Pokemon Champion setting Red up to his training arc leading to Mt. Silver?!?!

I think start with a normal pokemon game then go straight into Legends Arceus so then yall can play ZA when it comes out together. I think sword and shield is actually a great pokemon game for beginners, a lot of the criticism i had with it is that it holds your hand way too much at the beginning but for a beginner it works great.

So for the scarlet violet trailer, those games had alot to do with time travel, so it showed the clocks moving alot

Black and white. Unless you want to dedicate the time to playing all the games and want to enjoy playing them in order.

Ooo! Yall gotta do a game timeline reaction next :D and as for the first game. you could show Sean all starters from all gens and go from there. and if its any of gen 1-3 starters you have the remake options, With Legends Arceus and ZA having gen 2 starters depending on which is chosen or even Tepig and Oshawott of gen 5 and Rowlet of gen 7 Legends can be options and the if any of the rest you can choose the initial games said starter is from. Oh also throw Pikachu and Eevee in there and you have Lets Go as options ;)

Agree. Decide based on which starter Sean wants to play with.

A channel called commonwealth realm has a lengthy one with a fun voice over but stops at scarlet violet base game and another channel called Potboiler has one that is shorter but includes the scarlet violet dlc story. there are more those are just the ones i have seen

sword and shield for Sean cos it captures the core mechanics of the games and has good visuals, and clothing options

I would say Sean should start with either FireRed/LeafGreen or HeartGold/SoulSilver. Those are both fairly straightforward and traditional Pokémon games, but also some of the best in the series. Also you guys should do a reaction of all the Pokémon anime openings, that'd be awesome!!

The easiest game for sean is Definitely X an Y, but if you want slightly challenging thats also really good, either platinum or Black and white

Pokemon Platinum, Black/White + B/W2 and Sun/Moon are regarded to be some of the greatest games in the series! I can't recommend any of them enough. And finding an "accessible" method of playing gen 7 is pretty easy. There's also the gen 3 remake of R/S: Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire for the 3DS that I love a lot too.
