The writer/director said Alex taking care of his parents was inspired by him growing up with alcoholic parents. There were three addicts in the movie, Justine, Paul, and James. Also, Cregger's close friend and creative partner died in an accident related to using substances and Cregger is in recovery himself. The triangle in a circle is the AA symbol. He also said 217 is the room from The Shining. His interviews on his creative process are really interesting to listen to. I recommend them. Can't wait for his Resident Evil.

Another good movie that came out recently was "The Long Walk", definitely worth a reaction. Probably be better if you don't watch any trailers and go in blind.

I interpreted the movie to represent child abuse rather than school shootings. Alex wasn’t angry enough, he was just vulnerable - which both Matthew and Gladys exploited.

As someone that has autism on witchery (tried to be one for couple years but religious fear took over me) i can assure you most of this are actually accurate rituals and spells. She started witchcraft hardcore and that consumed her life energy and she stole it from other to heal. the ending was goofy but so good. Burning the tree would work better btw (or kill them instantly depending on the spell)

One thing I only realized on the second watch was that 2:17 might've seemed random for a time, but Alex's 2 parents where originally under the spell, and then they added 17 kids. 2 Adults, 17 kids.

Well the difference, between a sorcerer and a wizard is generally that a wizard learns magic through the study of spells, while a sorcerer magic comes from a source like a pact with a demon or entity, they could be the reincarnation or a whole grocery list of ways that they got their powers. Traditionally sorcerer's magic comes to them more naturally without them having to learn as much. But REALLY people make up whatever they want, some people say sorcerer is anyone who practices magic. Some things like Harry Potter make it so wizard is like a race. Lord of The Rings says wizards are like angels or something. Marvel treats Dr. Strange like a wizard but they call him a sorcerer. Its all over the place. I'm sure there are some purist who only accept one distinction of the two. But in media everyone tends to make up their own rules.

How I've always understood it is Sorcerers are born with innate magic, Wizards learn through study, Warlocks have a pact and Witches use rituals.

Everyone in Harry Potter is both a Sorcerer and a Wizard. Born with magic but hone it through study of spells

This was brutal and awesome. I can already see people also downplaying this because it's similar to Tarentino style film making. Sinners was tried to be played down by people calling it a copy of From Dusk Till Dawn and I can see people trying to down play this as a Hateful 8 and Pulpfiction copy. This was amazing and it's own thing. This was awesome ❤️

Many viewers and critics see Weapons as having allegorical elements or resonances with school shootings, but the filmmaker has also pushed back on calling it a direct metaphor. So more of a "see it how you see it" answer from him.

A subtle detail in the movie I enjoy I'd that the 2:17 also correlates to the 17 missing kids and the 2 that remained, Alex and Justine.

To start, this is a good horror movie, it was incredibly well done. I enjoyed it.

    -

Now that that's out of the way, my big takeaway from this movie: This is very much hitting like this generation's The Blair Witch Project. Powerfully hard hitting the first blind watch, enjoyable enough on rewatches, dark rooms required for peak experience, both 'BASED ON A TRUE STORY'. I will say the biggest difference for me between the two is that there are many scary scenes sprinkled throughout this movie, whereas with TBWP it's the tension that gets you and the truly terrifying scene (to me) is in the last 45 seconds of the movie.

    -

But all in all this was a great addition to the Horror genre.

the bros have never seen Matilda?? I feel like my heart just broke lol

but weapons, sinners and mickey 17 [which I also highly recommend] are easily my favorite three movies this year.

along with the allegory about school shootings, I think Creggar mentioned it also relating to addiction from his perspective, but for me, I also see it highlighting individualism in a way that no one even cared to notice or ask if Alex was even okay besides Justine. He was walking from school, the store and home for almost two months and no one notices? if HOA existed in this universe, they would've been at that house non-stop lmao

    Since Erik asked:

The main difference is their source of power: a wizard learns magic through intense study, accumulating knowledge from tomes and spellbooks, while a sorcerer has innate magical ability from birth or a powerful ancestry, using a more intuitive, less preparatory form of magic. Wizards typically have a vast repertoire of spells they must prepare daily, whereas sorcerers know fewer spells but gain unique ways to manipulate them, such as Metamagic.

Just the teaser trailer of this alone (showing security cameras with the kids running in the street at night with their arms out without the arms moving whatsoever) was giving me goosebumps when it came out.
