   Alaska dpes indeed have a program where every year residents get a check for an amount based on how much money oil companies made extracting oil in the state. Its anywhere from like a thousand to a few thousand dollars.

    Matt Groening (the show’s creator) grew up in Portland, Oregon, and he’s said that he named Springfield after Springfield, Oregon, one of the many Springfields across the U.S.He also said in interviews that he specifically liked the idea that people could think it was their Springfield. So, the show intentionally avoids saying what state it’s in. That said, there is an episode "Do'h Network" where there is a map that has Springfield in a proxy to Oregon. Plus, little hints like the neighboring Shelbyville also being an actual Oregon town tie it together.

    Yep, the Alaska dividend is basically a small version of (almost) universal basic income, that’s been a thing since the 80s. It varies how much each person (including children) is given, but the peak was about 3284 USD in 2022, and it’s 1000 this year.
