people had a weird issue with Garfield's Peter Parker by constantly saying that he was "too cool" when really, this Peter is just socially distant from his peers, probably smokes behind the gym and "goes against the grain" by not respecting bullies and popular kids. he IS this generation's [mine] loser because these are the people that got told that being introverted was a negative character flaw.

personally, I love the TASM universe, it's super fun, and Andrew and Emma bounced off each other insanely well that make Peter and Gwen feel so believable

nostalgia blinded 2000's people, comic purists and a team of writers hired by early 2010's Sony are the reason we're never getting TASM3.

Everyone's an expert on what other people should do with their money . The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was the most expensive Spider-Man movie to date and made the least amount of money. They scrapped this after the second movie because not only did it make less than the original but it was also a flop with the audience and critics which is part of the reason do to Sony's desire to set up a universe without properly building one.

I study animals. When people say "bug" they're usually referring to anything with 6 or more legs aka creepy crawlies. Correct term is Arthropod (phylum). This includes insects, arachnids, myriapods (centi- and millipedes), crustaceans (crabs and lobsters etc.)

That was fair point Sean made at the end of the video 😆 😆. In regards to TASM 2 not doing well, it made back it's money sure but it probably didn't break even which most blockbuster have to do to be considered successful. Not to mention the marketing budget, or the theaters cuts. In addition, as they might see when they get to it, that film has it's flaws and didn't get the best reviews or word of mouth when it came out 🤔.

Pretty sure Greg Millers dad was a crane operator, and he always complained because he knew by dark everybody was already home. They would not still be out working, there are city sound mandates for a reason.

Btw they didn’t address it in the movie but when the head honcho tells Connors to get volunteers from the veteran’s hospital, there’s another reason that Connors is disgusted besides the obvious disregard for human lives: Curt Connors is a veteran and lost his arm during service.

Something that normally gets overlooked in this film is Peter thinking that he's not "good". The last thing his Dad ever told him was "be good". Which obviously is just a shorthand for "be on your best behavior", but Peter has so much trauma and emotional issues from his parents that he internalized the phrase "Be good." It's why he says "I'm no good for her" when talking about Gwen, and why Aunt May has to remind him that he is a good person.

  27. Commenters avatar

So fun fact, in the comics, peter never told gwen he was spider-man, especially after her dad died because she blamed him. While MJ found out shortly after ben's death, because she lived next door to him, and saw him crawl into his window.

The conversation you guys had about uncle Ben's death here is interesting but I think I do agree with Eric in that the Tobey one did it a bit better. Andrew may cry better, but Peter feeling responsible and guilty for it happing because he let the same criminal go was done better with Tobey.

Every spiderman movie made after the Tobey films can't help but feel like a response to those films, hence why we either skip the origin and Ben's death or we have to do it differently. This film went with doing it different and it sadly doesn't quite hit the same 🤔. Though I've always enjoyed the nice moment with Flash Peter after that.

Did they. Most people agree that Tobey was a great Peter because he captured Peter being socially-awkward and super geeky. Also, I wouldn't say they only focused on Spiderman considering what the second film was all about 🤔.

  41. reality4228

TASM 2 did good but compared to marvel didn't compare to expectations. Also, fans didn't like it this franchise as much as the past and critics disliked the second (So bad optics for the studio). With that declining sales even though it was a pretty good profit they ended up cancelling the franchise. So the MCU could work with their own Spiderman. There was an actual concept of this Spiderman joining the MCU tho.

To this day, ASM2 remains one of my biggest guilty pleasure movies. I know the story in both these films is not as strong as the MCU stories, or even the Tobey movies, but Andrew is the most comic accurate Spider-Man, even if his Peter Parker is too punk rock/cool for Peter to be. Emma Stone is also my Celeb Crush, so I love her Gwen Stacy.

I also think the second made less money than the first one cause while the first one was on average had more positive reviews, the second didn't do so well critically, plus with Sony wanting to compete with Marvel in making their own cinematic universe with just Spider-Man, there was a lot happening. You'll probably know more when you see the second movie

Guys you’ve been watching MHA - “the essence of being a hero, is moving before you have the chance to think”. Uncle Ben, didn’t move because he thought it was smart, but because he didn’t know whether he or anyone else could be in danger so acted on impulse to prevent that possibility.

While I don’t like how brutal people are being to Eric, I do agree he completely misread the situation and characterisation.

I honestly feel like they transfert the feel from the first comic and took Andrew's Spider-man to the modern age of that. Geeks were geeks then, they where smart, modern nerds started existing around that time. Late 60's early 70's. And how the community of nerds grew is really something that started in the late 80's until the late 90's. And later the internet blew everything up! But I do like to think that the geek Peter Parker from the first comics would be a bit more nerdy because the accessibility of today. So even that is something I can say to defend Tom Holland, but I personally think the Amazing movies are just better Peter Parker/Spider-man movies, even though he acts a bit cocky sometimes.

tbf robin cokcy was peters middle name, if you go back pretty much all 200+ issues of marvel team up involved peter headstrongly beating up a superhero he ran into before stopping to ask if they were a bad guy or because they annoyed him before joining forces to beat up an actual villain.

The issue is that Marvel itself doesn't want Peter to grow up too much because they think it makes Spider-Man "less marketable." Some of the worst Spider-Man stories are a result of that policy. Most notably "One More Day." And "Sins Past".

That's what I liked about the Arrowverse, when Brandon Routh was Superman again I lost my mind just because it was hype. And Kevin Conroy returning as Bruce Wayne was even more insane. It felt like he had to pick me up and put me in Arkham.
