i like how you guys always rag on British food then say you want one of the pies you can just hold....which is a very common British food

just gonna throw it out there, even though i know this reaction doesn't mean you guys are watching musicals, but Into The Woods is also a sondheim classic with a movie adaptation featuring johnny depp (i frankly despise it as someone who's watched the broadway production, even though I loved it as a kid). still, I'd recommend it as it means one of you could watch the broadway version outside of the reaction (there's a full quality recording available on youtube), and i honestly think you'd love it, mostly because it's genuinely really funny

So obviously the obvious ones are obvious but the only character in the movie u werent sure of being in Harry Potter but I think one of u said u thought so (and was hilariously right) is the sailor Anthony but he definitely had the smallest of the HP roles amongst this movies cast. He was only in 2 movies, the first Deathly Hallows movie and the 2nd Fantastic Beasts movie where he played the role of teenage Grindelwald. The other main characters like Toby and the mother/daughter werent in any HP movies, in fact Toby and the 1st wife/mother have a combined 6 acting credits to their names

"He told me this was a musical, it's a murder musical!" Most stage musicals are in my experience!

I first watched a play for this, then watched the movie. I went in not knowing what it was, and you can imagine my reaction realizing how dark the story was. Although, I don't remember there being blood in the play, it was pretty much inferred that it was gory.

I am so happy you all watched this!!!! My high school did Sweeney Todd when I went there and they had the whole set up. The chair, a lever that functioned and a slide down. Ours was a chute where the chair would straighten up at a 90 degree angle and the floor in front of the chair opened up so the actor would land on their feet and not get hurt.

    -

They had students make the whole set so that it was all functional. Like with woodshop, and you could volunteer to help with building the whole thing. Even with the first floor pie shop, it was built like a doll house on wheels. So they could turn it around and you could see Sweeney up top doing his thing, chute opening up and the "fresh supplies" sliding down, all the while people were buying and eating the pies. It has been one of the best plays that I have ever seen.

    -

And Happy Birthday Ruff. Hope you had a good day! Fantastic choice of birthday movie. A+

If you guys ever de ode to watch movies that are bad, but entertaining- a rock opera, goth musical that left me feeling bored and somehow uncomfy was ‘Repo: The Genetic Opera’ Paris Hilton is in it. ITS NOT GOOD lol so don’t have crazy expectations but it’s a cult classic. I also love watching movies so bad they’re good.

Sweet Mary, mother of Joseph, what would make you guys watch this traumatizing horror and literal slaughter fest of a musical movie? Not gonna lie though, nice to see someone else experiencing the same trauma I’ve had since I was in middle school. Or was it the end of elementary school? I can never remember.

Every time I watch this movie, I always imagine Turpin or the Beadle coming out of that house and mugging Anthony again. Like they literally threatened his life and he immediately starts singing again.

NGL for darker movies like this, that no lights set up wouldve worked great

I've seen the play three times and each time I'm at the edge of my seat with excitement, it's so damn good and professional singers in person? Can't beat it

Someone's probably already said it but just in case: the sailor is played by Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna/Henry/001 in Stranger Things.

Sweeney Todd - Yes the blond boy  (Jamie Campbell Bower) was in Harry Potter “the boy in the photograph” but he was on the most recent season of stranger things and other things.

You're right, the young guy at the beginning (Anthony) was in Harry Potter in the picture and a couple short scenes. His name in the movie was Grindelwald; and in Fantastic Beasts, Johnny Depp plays his older version. So there's like so many HP cast in this movie. He was recasted in the 2nd movie tho due to the Amber Heard thing :(

Fun fact about the fight club line. Helena didn't know what age children are in grade school at the time of filming because she was in the British school system and no one told her until after they filmed it.

Depps daughter Lily-Rose was actually in the hospital with a life threatening condition during the filming of this movie. To the point the stop production for 3 days so he could go be with her.

So a lot of the misery you see on screen is very real. Man's was DEPRESSED.
