The thing that sticks with me most from this movie is even though he calls him minion Floop still compliments him for a good idea instead of the stereotypical claiming it for himself.
firstly, PLEASE watch spy kids 2 and 3; they're all so campy and fun
the shiitake mushrooms lie got me in a lot of trouble as a kid because I would say it so much
robert rodriguez created this series + sharkboy & lava girl for his kids. the cast is insanely stacked with well known latino actors because they all wanted to contribute to latino kids having media that they could relate to.

I really like the og Spy Kids movies, they are just so fun.
I loved Spy Kids growing up, just the imagination of what if kids could become spies really grew on me and my siblings. We even played spies every time after we watched the movie (trying to make secret messages, drawing spy gadgets or 'practicing' our martial arts). I especially love the 2nd and 3rd movie although the 4th reboot kind of stopped that love dead in its tracks.
I saw you guys were reacting to this and I bout lost my mind, this was primo classic from my childhood. I had to up my subscription immediately to see your full react as it blows your mind. I would absolutely love if you continued at least the next two movies I know you'll enjoy😎😎🧠
I had only ever seen the original DVD release version of this movie and it did not have that sleeping shark scene and instead had a different underwater scene that was much shorter. I had to look it up because I was so confused, but apparently this was the intended scene but they ran into budget issues and couldn't include it in the initial release.

This trilogy made up so much of my childhood, I loved them so much. Yes, theyre incredibly cheesy (especially 3), but theyre so nostalgic.

The Spy Kids movies are absolutely insane, but you gotta remember, they're kid movies from the early 2000s. The crazy part though is the extended universe, so many movies are tied to this franchise, there's all the Spy Kids movies (there are 4 of them with the most recent being released in 2023) the Spy Kids animated series, Shark Boy and Lava Girl is considered part of the same universe (although apparently people debate that) a movie called We Can Be Heroes, a superhero film by Robert Rodriguez, is sometimes considered part of the universe but the actual crazy connection is the Machete movie series, an R rated dark comedy series starring Danny Trejo as Machete, the same character he plays in this! Rodriguez says they are the same character from different universes, but Trejo says they're just the same character.
There was an animated series? 😅😅😅😅.
As for HOW this movie got made, and why there were so many huge names in it, Boom wasn't far off. Basically, Rodriguez wanted to make a kid's movie and (especially at that time) he's not really a director you say no to. For most of them it was a case of friendship and loyalty to Rodriguez so when he asked they said yes, some just wanted to do a fun goofy movie, and in the case of Danny Trejo specifically, they're family. Danny Trejo and Robert Rodriguez are second cousins and Trejo has gone stated many times how much he loves working with him.

A lot of the big name actors agreed to fo this movie cause they either wanted to work with Rodriguez or wanted to make a movie for their kids.
And the Thumb-Thumbs were something Rodriguez made as a kid.
I rarely ever prefer sequels to originals but this trilogy is one of those exceptions. I think 2 is the best of the 3. Please do not watch the remake. It is like the Home Alone remake, it’s garbage
They actually recorded and reversed a lot of audio for the fooglies. Though most are hard to hear.
"We're trapped. Floop is a madman. Help us. Save us." Can be heard in the car when the fooglies ride down the rainbow aswell as in the safehouse.
"Help, he's evil. He has me trapped. Somebody please." Can be heard when Daddy Banderas puts 2 and 2 together in the car. And 2 other times.
"Someone get me off this dangling piece of string" can be heard after Floop sings his amazing song.
"I just keep flabbing my arms until something happpens" same as above.
ive seen this movie over and over again in my childhood and i have NEVER SEEN THE UNDERWATER SHARK SCENE?? it mustve not been on the version of the DVD we had growing up

When I think of Alan Cummings the movie that always comes to my mind is Romy And Michelle's High School Reunion, you will never listen to Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper the same way again.

this was awesome. i was so happy to see this pop up. it would be neato if you guys watched Grindhouse! (Robert Rodriguez & Quentin Tarantino double feature). It's super fun! My favorite thing Alexa Vega (Carmen) did after Spykids was Repo! The Genetic Opera. Sorta gothic musical version of Repo Man. She does vocals and Paris Hilton is in it lol

Your reaction to this was hilarious great fun to watch I loved this movie since I was a kid and it introduced me to Robert Rodriguez his kid movie's are inherently whimsical and cheesy part of that comes from him being a cartoonist back in the day but I love his style in how he makes kid movies no one makes them as fun as him I think
