First time seeing this movie it's so insane I can't believe it you would think it's a parody
I totally skipped this one as they were coming out. Doesn't look like I missed anything lol
Also, would love to see you do the Venom movies. They are a lot of fun
Wonder how they would feel about the romance in Garfield's Spider-man. Hope they comment on it (no spoilers)
Spider man is supposed to be cocky. Hes always cracking jokes when fighting villains to the point where if a criminal sees spider man and he DOESN'T talk they give up immediately
The funny thing is. Mary Jane should know that Harry thinks spider man killed his dad. He was bitching about it during the second movie a lot to the point where even aunt may didn't like spider man until he saved her.
Damn, boom got stuff backwards with whos a better spider man and whos a better peter parker
I always felt Tobey was the better Peter Parker and Andrew was the better Spider-Man while Tom is a good blend of both.
That's the general consensus 🤔.
That 70s Show reaction?👀
They can't stop talking for not even 5 minutes like OH MY GOD JUST WATCH! I get it, copyright claims and YT but come on.
I do agree with Ruff btw. You gotta play the PS2 games. I need to see some failed QTEs and the iconic, "I'm going to die" *Explosion*
YEAH! BULLY MAGUIRE!
the ghost really starting to mess things now.
oh yay. Ive been missing the ghost so good to know theyre in this one. lol
The editor's cut of this movie is better! It's pretty hard to find though, so if you're bored, I recommend looking for it somewhere. (Makes pirates noises.)
i remember hearing numerous times that, apparently, the original villain list for this movie was just Sandman and Green Goblin. But, some executives forced Raimi to add Venom, a villain he already didn't like, as the main one. So, he agreed reluctantly...and then proceeded to try as hard as possible to ruin the movie just to spite the exec's. Don't know how true it is, but apparently it wouldn't be surprising to some other directors in Hollywood if he did.
I still really enjoy this movie, even though so much was crammed in a lot of it felt rushed. I still stick by what I say when I say Sandman was by far the best part of this movie and honestly, if they just remove venom and maybe only play up the goblin stuff a little bit This movie would’ve been so much better
There is a better cut of this movie somewhere out there. The Editor's cut. It's hard to find, so I recommend buying a ship and a parrot.
"That's not how that works" Please just shut the fuck up Eric
I think you guys are reacting perfectly to this movie. A lot of the love from this movie comes from nostalgia. But back in the day this wasn't as well received like many other great movies.
Can you guys please react to the Andrew Garfield spider man next please
Even in comics the whole relationship between Peter and MJ is toxic as fuck, they break, they make up, over and over again, an endless cycle, Peter has dated so many heroines, who are vastly better than MJ, even in the recent run, she was with another dude, she breaks up with him and runs straight to Peter to want to be with him, I'm just done with that, but people will keep saying that they're meant for each other because they're together in other universes, but not in the main one.
May Parker is a saint <3
so is Dorothy Mantooth
Modern MJ is exactly like this in the comic books. pre 2014 MJ is awesome and such a boon
I feel like this movie gets way more hate than it deserves. Is it great? Hell no, to call it a bad movie just doesnt feel right to me. This group has a bad habit of encountering something flawed about a movie and then becoming incredibly nit picky about things for the rest of the movie. Almost for the meme. Like suddenly everything after dark peter became a joke or something. Like, Aunt Mays line about forgiving yourself is the first step to asking someone else for forgiveness is an absolute banger. Yet yall were instantly like nah that aint right. Is what the symbiote made peter do to MJ justified? Hell no. But that doesnt discredit the fact that you have to first forgive yourself before you can ask someone else for forgiveness. Other wise whats the point? This movie is a mess and a half, regardless of the reasons, its better than what many give it credit for. Yall gave props to silver surfer, and arguably worse movie to this one and yet this is the worst thing yall have ever seen. Just doesnt make sense to me.
It's really not that serious dude it's called an opinion..This movie is trash most of the time I would forget Sandman is in the movie. You watched for their reaction didn't you? So why complain about what you wanted to see.
To be fair, how they feel about this film is how most people felt at the time, but I do agree about how they tend to get nitpicky when they aren't vibing with a film even if it's just for jokes (look at their reaction to Shrek 4 or the last half of s4 young justice), and it's ironic because they criticize others on the internet for kinda doing the same lol.
32:00 Dead mans chest and At worlds end were shot at the same time. Together they had a budget of nearly 530 million dollars. Spiderman three had a budget around 280 million dollar its worth mentioning a significant amount of that money when into sandmans design. Where the pirates movie had to CGI tenacles to a mans face, Spiderman 3 was turning an entire man into sand. Not to mention venom and the attempt at making things 3d, which especially in 2007 was DIFFICULT and cost a TON of money.
Sam Raimi didn't want Venom in this movie, but he was forced to. His plan was to just have Sandman, and there's a lot of good deleted scenes with him but unfortunately it didn't work out. He didn't understand Venom so as a result...this is what we got.
Actually he wanted Vulture (played by Ben Kingsley) and possibly Black Cat, but the studio replaced them with Venom. My theory is they took what Raimi had planned for Vulture and used it in Spider-Man Homecoming
From what I heard, production forced Sam to put Venom in this movie. Apparently, he never really liked Venom and had no intention of using the character. It's more or less collectively agreed that Sam did the Venom stuff so badly out of spite, but I don't know if that's confirmed.
How does one go about playing some commander with yall sometime?
I just got the Final fantasy decks O.o
so excited for Spider-man!
Tbh I feel as fans we should of warned them about this basically being a F YOU SONY movie because Raimi had to go rip up his script so many times because the studio demanded that venom had to be in it. Spider-Man 3 was supposed to be a raimi spin on the andrew Garfield movies with dr.conners becoming the lizard. And Sam also wanted to skip venom all together and just do a carnage movie for the 4th one
Its so interesting for them to say that Andrew is the better Peter while Tobey is the better Spiderman. The general consensus is that Andrew is a much better Spiderman and Toby is a better Peter. Also Gwen Stacy is a MUCH better love interest for Peter. Way less damsel in distress
Its mostly big with people more familiar with the smaller differences between peter and spidey Like the deeper comic fans.
All I have to say is that this was...a movie. It exists, it was filmed, edited, released in theaters. There was acting and effects and sounds...
"Is the sand man origin that he was in a sand machine?" well the heros origin was he was bit by a spider so I feel like that isn't too farfetched lmao
there was a lot of problems with the movie production Sam Raimi had plans for an entirely different movie but the production side and sony forced him to write it differently and change all sorts of thing. he had a larger plan for venom as a villain for its own movie in hopes they would get a fourth but sony knowing it would help the movie if venom was in it got shoved in and changed everything
Yeah, this movie was a bit of a hot mess. XD
If you want another fun version of Spider-Man, the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon is a pretty fun one. It overlaps (somewhat loosely) with the Avengers Assemble show and the Hulk and the Agents of SMASH show.
Can’t wait for The Amazing Spider Man (Andrew Garfield). The first one is so good. The second one is meh, but definitely has good moments.
This was the first major studio interference in a superhero movie of the 2000s that showed just how bad interference could be. Sam Rami isn't my favorite director but damn they really screwed him over with the venom subplot being mandatory
This one at least has the most memes per minute
Yeah no watching this with you guys reminded me how angry after I watched this in the cinema! It was fun good gags but omg the MJ and Peter and Harry was just painful. First 2 Spider-mans are great this one not so much!
So here’s the thing. There was gonna be a 4th one. Sony even gave a release date for it and I believe it had started filming when the movie got cancelled.
DAWK PEETAH THE WIFE BEETAH 😭
I didn't know you guys were into magic the gathering?!?! My heart has grown more
That's not cheating.
Can't let people know Spider-Man has a girlfriend.
he could've also just not kissed her and nobody would've assumed he had a gf, that kiss might've made some people assume they were dating and put a target on her back, just a really strange plot point that also mischaracterizes peter parker
That is %100 cheating lol
Yea for sure can't wait for you guys to get to no way home
This is the first movie I saw in theaters that literally made me want to walk out of the theater, and I'm not exaggerating lol
Harry use the serum therefore he’s a lot stronger than Eddie. Eddie is just normal and had venom.harry had super serum so of course the one sided explosive wouldn’t have killed him
Thank you they act like peter didn’t have a bomb explode in his face in the first movie
I can’t believe none of you ever noticed that Gwen Stacy is played by Bryce Dallas Howard. A.k.a. Claire from Jurassic world
My guy didn't pay attention^
Sean litterally says she plays the aunt from Jurassic World.
Bully Maguire is the GOAT!
What happened with this movie, the higher ups wanted venom in the movie & Raimi had to put him in. Then they announced a 4th movie for 2011. But he felt like, it wasn't working. Like he couldn't get it to work. So he left the project. So sony & there infinite wisdom decided to cancel it. Then reboot it with Mark Webb & Andrew Garfield so they can keep the film rights & they wouldn't revert back to marvel. They made by the skin of there teeth. Because marvel would have the rights back in 2012. We all know how well that went for sony. 😅 On to the Webb Duology!
Tom is my favorite Peter and Spiderman. Andrew and Tobey I didn't like as Peter tbh but I liked them as Spiderman . Andrew more than Tobey
That actually is Venom's origin comic accurate. After Peter rejects the Symbiote in uses the church bells to get it off Eddie Brock is in the same church in the Symbiote latches on to him sensing the hatred Eddie feels for Peter that's what makes them a perfect match to become venom
Well... no. It's accurate to the 90's animated series. In the original comics we never actually see Eddie and the symbiote bond. He just appears as Venom some time after Peter gets rid of the symbiote.
Eddie actually did in a flashback. He was about to commit suicide before it got on him.
I feel like this movie perfectly encapsulates what it's like to read comics. When it's good it's great. But when it's bad it's a trash fire that you have to navigate.
And it's for this reason that this is still a great movie after all these years.
My issue with MJ being upset that Peter kissed someone else, which in itself is valid, is that she's making the point of contention the style of the kiss; it's ''their'' kiss, even though she kissed John that way to confirm she didn't actually love him and then went to kiss Peter because she suspected he was Spiderman.
In fairness, she wasn't with Peter when she kissed John like that, that was more of a test to see if he was the right guy or not. Whereas Peter did that with Gwen while dating MJ right in front of her, which I think was just as much her issue as him doing it at all.
Tobey's Spidey is a classic, but Holland's Spiderman is just the exact thing I wanted from the character being put on screen. He looks the part (age wise), is kind of awkward but in a sweet way and is very very kind. I was really unsure if I liked Andrew's Spidey or Tom's more but Holland's third movie won me completely over, so I'm really excited for you guys to get to it in the MCU. It is so good.
Well according to dialogue in no way home from Tobey's Spider-Man it ended up working out with him and MJ
Why stop w this information, might as well tell them the story of the entire movie.
Did you seriously post a spoiler? They haven’t seen that movie yet.

Dahk Petah the Woman Beatah sent me
Hey Erik. If you want to get married to someone, you should make sure they do not hate the idea of marriage, and then when you propose that you both go ring shopping, you’re confirming by her reaction that she is not opposed to the idea of being married TO YOU, and THEN when you propose, you know the answer will be yes before it. Kinda like how when getting married, you have two weddings. The first is the more symbolic wedding, your actual wedding, and the second is your legal signing of the marriage license, which is its own thing, but is from a legal stance, the more important of the two.
I just want to say Peter is just as toxic as MJ in these movies. My man pursued her whether she was in a relationship then proceeds to cheat on her literally in her face.
I mean to be fair MJ is a straight b*tch in all 3 films and a wh*re..Peter legit warned her that it wouldn't work but she didn't care then she gets emotional when she's not the center of attention.
I'm with Eric and Ruff about getting ring size
since i'm at the stage where i'm now thinking of this stuff, most people seem to agree that you get the ring at whatever size and then it is expected to go to a jeweller after and get the ring re-sized perfect with her. like thats the commonly accepted approach these days apparently
Some facts about Venom/ Eddie Brock
The way Eddie got the symbiote was actually pretty accurate in the comics Peter goes to the church rings the bell and once he gets it off it goes to Eddie.
Deadpool actually had the symbiote before Peter and because of Deadpool’s insanity and violence it affected the symbiote to adopt his mannerisms and that’s why it became more violent.
His weaknesses are sound and fire
The Venom symbiote and Eddie are two separate people so they refer to themselves as “We”.
The symbiote can heal Eddie cause in the comics he had cancer and once he got the symbiote it healed his cancer.
Eddie’s downfall was actually worse in the comics cause he didn’t just lose his job because of Peter he also lost his fiancée, got diagnosed with cancer, and his family disowned him
Symbiote’s procreate asexually and carnage is the child of venom
To see some better versions of venom you should check out Spectacular Spider- Man and the Venom movies. The venom movies make changes because spider-man was being used in the mcu so they completely take out Eddie getting the symbiote after Peter and venom doesn’t have his white spider logo but they do portray him in a better way than this movie.
Also the black suit is meant to be an allegory for drugs
Also what’s funny about what Ruff said regarding what they should’ve did with the story is that Harry being Venom is a thing in comics😭 and honestly with how they built up Harry in Spider-Man 1 and 2 him being Venom would’ve been PERFECT😭
As I commented in the first movie,
MJ+Peter+Harry= revolving cuck chair
Phew! How you guys feel about this film is how most people at the time felt about it lol. This was once considered to be one of the worst comic books films, but overtime there has been a resurgence of people who feel that it's not that bad but still flawed.
I think this film had potential to be really good, but as everyone has said it's overly stuffed, the romance and Peter becoming emo is poorly handled, and Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer is a dumb and unnecessary retcon. However, some emotional scenes do work well, the action is pretty good, and I appreciate the message of forgiveness that it tries to have.
Lastly, Ruff brought up that Harry should have been Venom and most people feel the same. In addition to the fact that there could have been a twist where it turned out Harry was faking his amnesia and used that to break up Peter and MJ 🤔.
I'm going to be real I do not know why people like Andrew Spiderman more than Tom. I guess they haven't read a spiderman comic book specifically the Ultimate Spider Man comics. Which is arguably the most recommended run for new people who want to get into Spider Man comics. I just love how people hate on Tom just because his Spider Man gets "help" which is an overexaggerated take. They don't know Spider Man goes to Avengers and Fantastic Four for help all the time in the comics. Even X Men.
Sounds more like you don't know spiderman. Tom's version did not want to be spiderman leaving town and that was out of character
"Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman"..Literally in the name in the comics rarely do we see Spiderman leave New York. So no it's not out of character
And there is eve a recurring joke of when Peter is leaving town, he hopes the buildings are pretty tall.
Actually Spider-Man does have stories where he needs to leave New York whethe it is vacation or a mission and never does Peter go like leave Spider-Man behind and let the local cops handle everything. You too don't know Spider-Man lol
Y'know, I'm questioning whether you have read the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, cause... Ultimate Peter Parker was a very angry individual who let that anger at just about anyone who happened to be in insult range. That is alot more akin to the very emotional and dickish Peter we see in the first TASM than anything from Tom Holland's movies. Tom Holland's Peter Parker has alot of mannerisms similar to Miles Morales, actually, than most comic iterations of Peter Parker.
This
Yeah we need to stop with the “never picked up a comic book” takes😂😭 as a comic book reader it’s so annoying hearing people feel entitled to debunk others opinions cause they read comics versus those who doesn’t. I read comics too and for me Andrew is a far better adaptation of Peter Parker and Spider-Man and my issues with Tom have nothing to do with him getting help and honestly never heard anybody complain about him getting help. Tom’s adaptation has many issues(mostly in writing) that I feel like isn’t Tom’s fault. Tom had the potential to be the best adaptation but that was ultimately wasted due to the poor writing and direction he’s had over the course of over 6 movie appearances.
Interesting point of origin for the symbiote. It originally debut in the comics called Secret Wars, but the symbiote didn't really affect Peter's personality. Spider-Man wore the suit for a while until he found out it was an alien and was like "get it off me". The symbiote felt abandoned by Peter and developed a hatred for him and bonded to Eddie later on. It wasn't until the 90s Spider-Man cartoon where it adapted the symbiote storyline and it using the foresight of what happened to change how the symbiote worked and made it affect Peter and make him more aggressive and dark. Ever since then that was how the symbiote was adapted most of the time
LMFAOOOOOOOO the fact I was genuinely acting JUST like Sean throughout the movie😭😭 I genuinely felt sooo much embarrassment watching this😂
The thing about venom is the reason he’s so much bigger than spiderman is because of flash, venom is just a layer of armor
If you think this is bad good luck with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 way worse
People saying the "Tobey is the best Peter, Andrew the best Spider-Man and Tom is good at both" have never read a Spider-Man comic, it might be the most basic opinion there is and everyone keeps repeating it even when it's completely wrong.
While Tobey and Tom take inspiration from the mainline Spider-Man comics (616 universe) Andrew takes more inspiration from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics (1610 universe) so saying he's a bad Peter is just not true at all, he's just adapting a different version of the character.
None are bad at being Peter or Spider-Man, the only one who is lacking as Peter in my opinion is Tom only because they decided to stretch out his origin and because they decided to take inspiration from Miles Morales comics since, as I said before, every Spider-Man takes inspiration from a different comicbook, so they decided to give some of Miles traits to this Peter such as character arcs like wanting to be part of the avengers and searching for a mentor. (And then there's Ned who's just Gankee with a different name)
But I have a lot of faith on his 4th movie, it has the potential to be the best Spider-Man movie if done right and it might be what Tom's Peter needs as a character.
but People say it other wise, they say Toby is the best Spider man and Andrew the best Peter and i think thats Correct aswell
Peter is the absolute master of the quick change. Bro is off screen for 2 seconds and is already in costume.
Captain Stacy's line delivery of "What's she doing up there?" when looking up at his daughter dangling off a skyscraper kills me, there's more emotion two seconds later wondering if his daughter is dating someone than if she's going to fall to her death.
I wanna say that Ring conversation was more fun than MJ And Peter's love life lol. Other than that banger trilogy to be honest xD. I love Venom and have his merch
The MJ hate is so overboard. Like, yeah, she does some terrible things, but you guys clearly went into this looking to hate her for everything, even when there wasn't any evidence yet. And then you got way more angry at her for kissing Harry and immediately regretting it and taking it back than you got at Peter for kissing Gwen and not even caring about what he was doing lol
We didn't go "looking to hate her" that's you looking for a reason to be upset at us about this, which is silly. We gave Peter just as much grief about the kissing Gwen thing. You're fighting shadows here.
Well, I tried deleting this because I don't want to be one of those comments. I'm trying to learn to just keep my frustrations to myself and let you enjoy or hate stuff your way even when I really disagree with it, but the delete function isn't working for me right now. So sorry about that.
No need to apologize the hatred for MJ on the internet has gotten overboard over the years. See also Amber from Invincible and Iris West from The Flash.
Well they deserve the hate they are all terrible people.
they definitely are, but MJ is the ONLY one who has been given shit about it for years
They are written badly, so they deserve criticism not hate (at least not to the levels that they get online) 🤔.
Sean said MJ needs therapy as a joke but on serious note, she actually really needs therapy before getting into a committed relationship. We know her dad was verbally abusive(and probably abusive in other ways) and was always telling her how worthless she was, told her that she wouldn’t amount to anything and that she’s just like her mother(who as far as we know is a good person who probably was also abused by him) and only came to her show to ask to borrow money. The way she handles her relationships with men has to do with her relationship with her original male role model, her dad. Obviously none of this is an excuse for her behavior but it’s definitely an explanation and she absolutely needs to see a therapist
Seriously. Pretty much every man in MJ's life has been kind of awful to her at one point (sans John Jameson) and her messiness almost always comes from her just eager to be with anyone that's being halfway decent to her. Cheating obviously isn't great but I feel like in this case it's at least the most understandable instance, she's love-starved and Peter was honestly a terrible boyfriend in this movie.
00:02:20 Actually the general consensus is that Tobey was a great peter parker not a great spiderman (he captured being a socially awkward nerd but his spiderman wasn't as quippy as he should be ). Garfield was a great spiderman and not a good peter parker (He was more jokey as spiderman, but his peter was too cool and not nerdy enough), and Tom Holland is a good balance of the two (he captures being a jokester as Spiderman and his Peter is nerdy enough to get picked on by people) 🤔.
Most people I knew hated this movie when it came out. I was in the minority that liked it. The point wasn't to make Peter cool. The point was to make Peter THINK he was cool. Peter is a goofy little nerd. And that's what people love about him. That's where he shines as a person. He tried to be someone he's not, and that's what that looks like. A bizarre amalgamation of emo, goth, and jazz. The movie is a mess. But I love it.
1:11:40 eyewitness testimonies are unreliable yet again…..
“It’s always good to know that when Gwen Stacy falls, Spider-Man will be there to catch her.”
Jesus, Sean…..
“It’s always to know that when Gwen Stacy falls, Spider-Man will be there to catch her.”
Jesus, Sean…..
Toby is the best Peter.
Andrew is the best Spiderman.
Tom is the Goldilocks casting choice.
They don't explain it at all in the movie.
But Venom is supposed to be invisible to Peter's Spider-Sense.
That's one of the biggest missed opportunities with having Venom in this movie. Him being invisible to the Spider-Sense and knowing Peter's identity make him arguably the most dangerous villain. He can be anywhere and Peter doesn't know and he can infiltrate his personal life whenever he wants. He's definitely a villain that doesn't have to share the spotlight with any others.
Yes! Because he was attached to Peter first so his body doesn't see him as a threat. Also why Venom's look and powers are so similar to Spider-man's. That's why despite liking the Venom movies (I haven't watched the third one yet) I was like "how are they going to do Venom without Spider-man? Venom is only the way that he is because he was attached to Peter first."
To explain the total whiplash, it's cause halfway during production of this movie, the studio went to sam raimi the director and forced him to have venom in it. Sam actively said that he couldnt as he didnt know much of the character and that he strictly wanted to wrap harrys stroy while also making sandman a sympathetic villain. The movie itself is actually good up until the point when venom because center stage, cause once it does harry and sandman basically take a backseat up until the end of the movie. While this movie defineteley has ALLOT of problems id still say the critques are overly harsh. It has become a classic now as people can enjoy the silliness of it and at the very end it felt impactful, that final dance sequence of both Peter and M.J. as the trauma and struggle they both have went through haunts them they still have each other. M.Js dream might noot have come true but she still has peter. Peter might not get the life he wants but through it all has m,j and instead of kissing, they reconcile and go back to square one and knowing that through it all love is what keeps them going.
Peter didn't actually respond like that when Harry asked if his father died. Peter didn't say anything in response to that actually. Harry remembered that moment wrong.
My biggest problem with Sandman killing Ben is that it takes away from Peter’s entire purpose of being Spider-Man. “With great power comes great responsibility.” Peter let the guy go and he killed Ben, making Peter responsible(obviously just partially responsible, that guy still made his own choice to pull the trigger). By making it Flint, they’ve taken that aspect away because Ben would’ve died regardless if that guy was let go or not making Peter’s lesson in the first movie moot.
Aside from that, there’s a lot of stuff I cringed at while rewatching the first two movies with you guys but I enjoyed them. This one tho, this one it too cringy…. The cringy moments outweigh the good parts.
I kinda agree with you but to be fair if the robber was not let go he wouldn't have startled Flint and then Flint wouldn't have pulled the trigger.
Marvel had this thing in the early 2000's where they absolutely despised the whole Peter/MJ romance because they felt Peter being married wasn't relatable. This has to be the earliest example of the anti-MJ propaganda they wanted out there.
You guys are really good at waiting just the correct amount of time between movies. Just when I was thinking “It’s been a while since Scream 5, wonder where 6 is” it gets uploaded. Right when I’m thinking “Been a while since Spider-Man 2, wonder where Spider-Man 3 is” you upload it. You wait just long enough between movies to get me wanting the next one.
damn sucks, this was my favorite one and i was so excited for them to watch it. Guess i remain the only one that likes it:(
No man I'm also a huge spiderman 3 fan
I like it too! It is my least favorite of the trilogy but I feel like it gets too much hate. There's some good action scenes, I like the Sandman aside from the Uncle Ben retcon, I think the romance between Peter and MJ is at its most interesting in this one just because we actually get to see them as a couple, there are elements of the Black suit story I think are well done like Peter hurting Harry and MJ.
I love how many movies have no idea of things accelerating when falling down... It looks so weird when they take THAT long falling from a building (and this is an issue with all 3 movies).
I hope we get Venom reactions in the future. Make sure to watch the first two before seeing Tom Holland’s next Spidey film. I also be down like what others said about watching The Spectacular Spider-Man tv series. That & Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. :)
This movie was a result of studio meddling with Sony pushing for Venom since he is a fan favorite. However Sam Raimi made it known he wasn't a fan of the Venom character as he really pushed to have it be Peter vs Harry and Sandman. So he was forced to add the Venom/Dark Peter story which is from the comics but much better written which resulted in having too many plot lines. The film isn't perfect & so many issues but I get what Sam Raimi was going forward with the themes of revenge, ego, & forgiveness. Peter's arc was realizing his mistakes, letting go of his demons/ego, & forgiving himself for his actions. Still had a good time with your reaction lol.
Bully Maguire
This was how he became Venom in the comics and cartoons, but the Venom movies created a new origin for him because of Sony/Marvel/Disney rights to characters issues
Rewatching this movie, the problem is Mary Jane is unbearable. Is Peter full of himself yes, but after having life kick the crap out of him he deserves it. This forced drama of Mary Jane losing her job which she was successful at in the second movie, felt so forced like Sam didn’t know what to with her in this film. Sandman works well as a thug, he could still be sympathetic but he had too much screen time. The villains should’ve just been Harry and Venom and what would worked better introduce Eddie in 2, so the Peter rivalry has already grown.
I wouldn't say he deserves it, but it's understandable if Peter is getting cocky because things are finally going right for him but it's still shown to be a character flaw 🤔.
there was a lot of studio interference with this one and Sam did his absolute best to make it work
I think this movie's biggest problem is how much it relies on narrative shortcuts. It disregards everything the previous movies (or even itself) had built in favor of getting the plot where it needs to go.
-All last movie Harry's revenge against Spider-Man was built up but he conveniently gets amnesia early on so we can focus on the other villains
-Peter needs to go on a revenge quest so they just retconned the Sandman being responsible for Uncle Ben's death
-Peter and MJ need to break up so Harry's memory suddenly returns and he forces it rather than just letting it happen naturally
-Harry needs to help Peter and MJ in the end so Bernard just conveniently tells Harry the truth he could have said the whole time (in fairness to this one I can buy Bernard not telling the truth in the last movie to not sully Harry's image of his dad but once he's become the Green Goblin himself and is out trying to kill his best friend, THAT'S when you speak up Bernard)
as much as i like the Sam Raimi trilogy there was a lot wrong with it. I know that you guys have a lot on your plate right now, but Spectacular Spider-Man does a lot well, and it would be a good eventual show to do.
Spectacular Spider-Man is awesome, too bad it got cancelled. But that theme song gets stuck in my head all the time, especially if someone says "on the edge".
Peter Parker:
1. Tom
2. Tobey
3. Andrew
Spider-Man:
1. Andrew
2. Tom
3. Tobey
Movies:
1. Tobey
2. Tom
3. Andrew
mary jane is complicated in the comics right now shes the current host of venom. She also just broke up with a character named paul (its a whole werid rabbit hole)
what happens in another dimension should STAY in another dimension. Personal take.
100%
that look to camera moment XD
Even though I grew up with this movie, after being spoiled with Tom Hardy, seeing Eric Foreman as skinny Venom hurts me.
Yeah, like I'm fine with Topher being Venom but when he's in symbiote mode they shoud have made him look bulkier and stop revealing Topher's face all the time, and the teeth were unecessary. The point of Venom is "we are Venom" not just Topher Grace with powers.
Still a very flawed movie but the editors cut of this movie or "Spider-Man 3.1" does cut out a lot of scenes like bererd telling Harry the truth and adds other scenes / replaces scenes with other versions or cuts them out entirley.. its helps the movie a little but still not very much but in that scene specifically harry just picks up a photo of the 3 of them and then cries which I feel like it makes his desicion to help more of his choice for his love for them. Like he said in the beginning he'd give his life for them.
Therapy for the cringe id recommend some Spectacular Spiderman 😂. I was feeling like Sean during the cringe
It’s a lot more common now to discuss getting engaged with your partner before you actually do it. I have several friends who have had similar conversations with their partners because they already know they’re in it for the long-run and the “surprise” is just a matter of when it will become official. But it can avoid awkward or uncomfortable moments because both people know they’re ready for marriage.
1:28:25 oh no Ruff they made MJ SO MUCH WORSE in the comics in recent years. Look up spiderman PAUL and thats all you need to know☠️
it's really been ruined since one more day, before that, MJ was the best in the comics.
Dude you guys NEED to watch venom. I wasnt really a comic dude but venom is the shit!
definitely watch the venom movies !! they are SO good
no they arent the first one was decent and thats about it
Their relationship is comic accurate 🤣🤣🤣
Doesn't mean it's good 😅😅.
After the TASM movies you guys should watch The Spectacular Spider-man.
From my understanding, Raimi only wanted 1 of the villains between Sandman and Venom, but Sony forced them both
Actually he wanted the Vulture instead of Venom.
So originally this wasn't what Raimi was going to make. I can't remember exactly, but there was absolutely Sony involvement that completely changed the direction of the movie. That's why a lot of parts are so baffling, and the inclusion of three antagonists
Raimi wanted either Sandman or Venom and Sony wanted both
If I recall. I remember hearing that Venom wasn't supposed to originally be in this movie but the studio made Raimi put him in it
when you get the chance please watch spectacular spiderman tv series
That & Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Right, I love that show
That show did Venom better. Everyone agrees with that.
eddie becoming venom happens differently depending, but in the 90s cartoon had a similar origin to this
Right, I love that show.
This movie is so unserious. I've appreciated corny cheesy movies of the past before like the first two f4 movies but this is just a mess. There's nothing I like in it. Maybe just the memes that came out of it.
I like sandman in this but they really didn't need to add venom at all, MJ sucks lol like she should have called Peter Harry was blackmailing her. Gwen is so much better love interest in the Amazing spiderman
Gwen Stacy was a better partner for Peter in this movie than MJ was.
Peter: makes everything about himself whenever his girlfriend tries to come to him with her problems to the point where she feels she can't confide in him, recreates their kiss with another woman with her right there and doesn't apologize or even seem to realize why that was bad when confronted about it, pushes her away when she tries to be there for him despite how he's been treating her.
Fandom: Cricket noise.
MJ: kisses her ex-boyfriend in a moment of weakness because of how shitty her current relationship is, immediately regrets it.
Fandom: "She is the WORST, I hate her so much."
The double standard is crazy.
Gwen Stacy was better partner for Peter in this movie than MJ was.
That church scene is ripped straight from the comics and the 90s cartoon, that is how Eddie Brock became Venom
I'm glad you guys are mature enough to notice the character of MJ is just a b*tch... not good girlfriend material no matter how some people try to do mental gymnastics to justify it.
And yes, of course what Peter did with the kiss was BAD, but that doesn't change what MJ is.
Peter is shown not to be good here either, so all of the hatred doesn't need to go only to MJ.
While I appreciate Sam Raimi has his own unique style, it’s not usually one that I think blends well with the type of superhero movies I enjoy. It’s a very particular brand of camp that works well in something like the Evil Dead movies, but doesn’t work for me here or in a later film that he directed. While I don’t know who could have survived the sloppy Sony meddling, I think a lot of the worst choices in this movie feel like they’re very much Raimi moments. I can’t imagine Sony asked for the dance sequence and finger guns.
A lot of the complaints of this movie would go away if it were just Sandman or just Venom. That was the major thing that Sony forced involvement in
An overcrowded Spider-Man movie can be frustrating, but so much of what I didn’t like about this movie had to do with character, performance, and tone.
Fun fact: Sam Raimi planned for Bruce Campbell to play Mysterio in a future Spider-Man film before they were cancelled by the studio
That could have explained why he was popping up everywhere, Mysterio is all about tricking people and pretending to be different people is definitely tricking people.
This movie is controversial. Lots of corporate meddling. Sam Rammi lost creative control. There wasn't going to be a 4th and Sony wasn't planning on doing another Spiderman movie for a while, so they wanted to maximize profits, to they basically threatened him and future projects unless they did whatever studio executives wanted.
BTW, you're gonna wanna watch the first 2 Venom films before Spider-Man: No Way Home, there's a surprise at the end.
very subtle dude
Ooof, haven't watched this since I saw it in theaters. I can't wait to see if I cringe and still hate it lol
This movie is about as bad as I remember wow... but I def am less invested now. I went in so excited for this movie and was so pained by the movie. Now I don't have any of that, plus I get to see y'all cringe and hurt like I did. And it's hilarious. Thank you for the reaction. This is the reaction gold I subscribe for.
Fair enough if you guys didn't like this one it tends to be either liked or disliked with people I've personally always really liked it and thought it was a well done ending to Raimi's trilogy I know that Sony forced Sam Raimi to put Venom in the movie which is why he might seem underdeveloped but in fairness we do get a cool story with Eddie brock I think. Raimi mainly wanted to do Sandman so in a way I'd say you can call the venom request a studio note lol but I don't mind they way they did it personally it's rare for you guys to be really disappointed in movie's I don't get how you liked Jurassic World 3 and 4 for me those movie's were complete shit shows if you ask me but hey all film is subjective.
Well, Spider Man 3 was a complete shit show if you ask me but hey, all film is subjective.
Because they like seeing cool mutated dinosaurs and those movies delivered that at least and they didn't get too critical and to find flaws in those movies.
If a dinosaur movie is gonna do that needs a good story which those movie's didn't have Imo
So idk if it gets brought up later, but important thing about this movie, Sam Raimi was forced to put in Venom. He went on record saying he didn't want to put him in because he didn't know the character enough, but Sony executives made him due to Venoms popularity. Originally it was just gonna be Sandman and Harry as New Goblin.
Mainly, it was Avi Arad who mainly wouldnt shut up about Venom.
Did they force him to insert a dance sequence?
I don't think that would've been in this if Venom wasn't included, as it is, honestly I think that was just Raimi bein silly. I mean, I laughed at it at least. Lol.
So you dislike this movie but not Jurassic World Rebirth and Dominion that's weird to me lol
Everyone dislikes this movie, even Sam Raimi hates this turd.
As Donald Trump would say "Wrong" 🤣
This is a direct quote from Sam Raimi "It's a movie that just didn't work very well. I tried to make it work, but I didn't really believe in all the characters, and so that can't be hidden from people who loved Spider-Man. If the director doesn't love something, it's wrong of them to make it when so many other people love it." He's on record talking about how much the studio interfered as well, the movie is a total flop.
Probably because they prefer that franchise. People are gonna be less harsh towards a movie franchise they grew up with then one they didn't.
Hey, everyone has their likes and dislikes in movies alright.
To each their own.
???? The video just came out
I skipped to the end to see what they thought I would delete this comment but not letting me for some reason either way I explained my point better in a different comment
good now where Mark Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man Reaction
Damn bro give them a chance, they just watched this one
00:23:55 you're not actually mad thas he hit the dog, are you?
