I'm glad Boom brought up Blazing Saddles! Cinemark is doing a 50th Anniversary theater showing of the movie in September!!! Maybe react to the movie around that time in honor of the 50th, and until then, do Young Frankenstein, Robin Hood, and other Mel Brooks movies leading up to that release/anniversary specail!!!

I remember hearing the "Pizza The Hutt" costume actually had been covered in scalding hot pizza, and the guy in the costume had to be cut out of the costume and treated for serious burns.

Auralnauts Star Wars abridged series is the best satire content. I hope it doesn't get overlooked.

To comment on video quality back then: Movies back in the days did not use tape or digital media to record. They used film reels.

Larger film reels like 35mm and 70mm film has an insane amount of detail when using proper equipment to record and edit them. They are also very scalable, hence why they could be shown  on huge cinema screens without quality loss. This is why many filmmakers still use film reels for recording to this day.

Its just that home video formats like VHS and DVD weren’t that high in resolution back in the day. They were downscaled for TV formats at the time. So a lot of that high quality film footage wasn’t seen outside of cinemas.

If a movie’s original 35mm or 70mm  master film reel was preserved, it’s possible to create HD or 4K digital versions of it without any major quality loss (if any quality loss at all)

Yes! Please more Mel Brooks! History of the World is my personal favorite. Blazing Saddles is a close second or maybe even tied. Both have Madeline Kahn and that's what counts. ?

Mel Brooks actually had to get permission from George Lucas to film this. Lucas liked it so he gave them some of the left over props from Star Wars. The catch was that Brooks couldn't have ANY merchandise other than the video sales. Which is why Mel put the whole merchandising bit in as a bit of and FU jab at Lucas. Because Ruff is right it was a HUGELY missed opportunity for Brooks.
