Proper Halloween classic! My friends and I watched Scary Movie 2 for our Halloween watch-over. Carry on the tradition...until it's not funny. I say 3 is good but 4 has quotes worth noting. Most other knockoffs are ass too
Just adding on to the many voices begging yall to watch Scream. The movies are fantastic and a great deal of fun beyond just the usual horror movie kills. Trust me they're an absolute blast.
omg when this movie came out, my aunt took me and my brother to see this movie, cause we thought it was just a comedy movie and told her we wanted to watch it, I was like 12-13 and my bro was 8, my aunt is like in her 50s or something at that point. was both highly amusing and mortifying, cause my aunt is super christian, plays the organ at church and all that stuff. Thought we were gunna be in so much trouble with the parents afterwards but it just became 'we never did this' thing lol. I felt, and still feel, so bad about that lol, I'm surprised she didnt take us out of the theater in the beginning.

Lmao 1-4 will always have a place in my nostalgia books. Also, gen z...I'ma therapist and...they don't have brakes. If they can drink, smoke, snort, eat, whatever they've already done it by 13 years old. It's nutty...but hey, at least they know the importance of mental health. Big wins there

I'm not sure how the gag of the one girl going through the doggy door makes this film ahead of its time, but ok lol. This film is more so a products of it's time especially with it making reference that only people from back then will remember. Not to mention certain jokes you probably can't get away with now such as Doofy or Ms Mann 🤔.
Anyways I think they stopped making these films simply because they stopped being good (if they ever were) and you're more likely to find better parodies online 🤔. While all these parody films have their moment I don't know if I would call any of them that good lol.

Scary Movie 2 & 3 are definitely worth the watch! Not 4 & 5 though.
3 is so dumb but in a good way the alternate ending was interesting as well

Man, I had not seen this movie in about 20 years. The only thing I remembered was the "geyser" scene. The only Scary Movie I really remember a lot of is the 4th one. It's a shame this kind of humor has died down and wouldn't work nowadays because it's "not PC" and studios are too focused on hypothetical reputation loss.
Has nothing to do with that. Big budget comedies aren't profitable enough in the current landscape of movie production. The profit ceiling on a AAA comedy is absurdly lower than a superhero movie for many reasons. The 'PC' stuff is all just propaganda pandering by mostly right wing media to their outrage porn thirsted base. Nobody in the real world actually cares and social media holds no tangible weight on anything.
Idk I'm pretty sure had this movie been made today it would be some on social media and some left-wingers that would take issue with some of the not so PC humor 🤔.

Mix of reputation and the fact that these kinds of movies just didn't make all that much money after a while. There are many things I personally love that doesn't get the attention of mainstream audiences and if there is no greater audience then there isn't going to be more of the product.
