I didn't get to watch all the reactions (the new ones) of season one yet but I finaly could watch season two so I can see the reaction. And boy yes I cried so hard. I loved when Erik said he hates Abby and Boom's smile at that xD. I only watched Let's playes for the games cause I can't play them to much for me. But I loved the storys. It is different both games are not dramas, they are tragedies. That is what makes them good IMO. It makes you think and talk about it. They couldn't change Joel's death even if they wanted to. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't comment on all of it. I am so looking forward to what they will do this season, what other changes they include. I loved the Town with the hord. That was epic and scarry af.
At the end of the first game and the first season, I thought alot about what Joel did. And I agree with Boom. You can see both perspectives. Cause at the end of the first game you know you are not the hero. You never really were, but that is the moment where I think most people wre like. "was that OK?" But because it was a father and doughter relationship, it was easy to justify. It was more about saving Elli. Season two already established this is revenge. No one is saved with this, there is no point other then revenge. I love that Abby basicly told Joel, "I am not better then you because I have a code, we both are the same shitstain here." Also Joel didn't beg or justify he just accepted it.
With all the Therapy and stuff you see that he is struggeling with what he did to save her already. I just love the characters and how they show them. Sorry that was a long one lmao.
I do think the story of the game is a lot better as a show. Because i really did not like the game. But the show feels better. Lets see though how they will do the thing with the cycle of violence.

It doesn’t matter how Abby fells she the worst for plotting 5 years of premeditated murder, and what really makes her the worst no matter what is she acts like she both a hero and a victim.
Rewatching season 1 with yu guys actually before the season I can confirm Abby’s dad was armed, sure it was with a scalpel but Joel did tell him once to move he didn’t and Joel said “I don’t have time for this.” And shot him .
Joel definitely killed Eugene not because he was infected but he learned joel found he was a firefly and just assumed.
Reminder Tommy’s game actor was killed by a blooper last season so great parallel.

1:00:05 the game started 1 year later from the first and Joel gave the guitar to Ellie and played a song for her.
I understand Abby, it's the same mindset Joel had when saving Ellie. Love for another person taken to dark places. I don't condone it but I understand it.
The leg wound on Joel was so much worse in the game. Hanging by tendons...
Also also, Sean is right, the guitar is a prominent thing in Part 2. Joel plays it for Ellie in a flashback, and there are multiple times in the main story in which Ellie herself plays it while thinking of Joel.
yeah im sad thry skipped the scene where Joel sings Future Days to Ellie. it was such an emotional scene and makes his death more impactful. I hope they revisit it in a flashback or something.
Also Joel dies in the game like barely an hour in. You guys REALLY need to replay it 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ruff and Sean at this point just stop trying to compare the game to the show because clearly you both don’t remember ANTTHING from it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 the scene of Joel rescuing Abby is literally 1:1 aside from the fact that Tommy is with him in the game instead of Dina.
Also Laura Bailey is an amazing actress and a really sweet person. And I feel so bad for her that people came after her for playing Abby in the game. They not only threatened her but also her newborn baby that she had right around the time the game came out. It’s sickening :(
The way my jaw dropped when Sean mentioned the clubs….
Was not aware of the game leak... but when I saw the first trailer of the game (where Ellie is playing the guitar with bloody fists) I suspected that when Joel appeared in the last like 5 seconds out of nowhere he was dead or was gonna die in the game... weird thing to suspect from a teaser but just felt the main focus being on Ellie and the song (which I believe was the same song at the end here) made me think that..... Did NOT make the scene any easier.
I also learned that it was an actual blizzard they filmed in.
Everyone already spoiled me on Joel’s fate years ago but my god seeing it as my bae pedro hurt way fucking more than I thought
I'll be honest, my dislike for Abby is up there with Jeffrey now. I was still brewing in the morning.
Joel's death happens pretty early maybe about an hour in. All the stuff about the attack on Jackson is new to the show, it wasn't in the game. You are correct that Joel was with Tommy on Patrol before Abby stumbled upon them while looking for Joel. They forcibly knock Tommy out when the group finds out their names. Abby does shot Joel in the leg before beating him to death. I do hope no one sends threats to this actress like they did before. Since they are telling the story differently from the game, I do wonder where they will end the game.
I heard that people were sending hate and threatening this actress as well. Unfortunately, this actress's mother died sometime before she had to film the death scene with Joel, so that didn't help either.

The fence scene is in the game, along with Joel saving Abby, almost to the exact frame too, very well done. But yes, Joel was with Tommy in the game not Dina. In the game, Dina is with Ellie on patrol.
Tbh, by making it Dina, they’ve actually made Dina’s motivation for getting revenge way better. In the game, she’s not there for the death. She, Ellie and Jesse split up to look for Joel and she arrives after. It felt like she went on the revenge mission for no other reason than as an obligation to her girlfriend. But by being there, and establishing that she already has a friendship with Joel, they’ve made Dina’s role better.
I totally agree. It was a good change in my books too. Showing us Tommy fighting a hoard with Jackson was amazing.
