Abby and her crew did pull up outside of Jackson in the game, they just didn’t have a way in, which is what the show is gonna do most likely
You know idk the difference in danger between them taking down a bear in the show vs them taking down a moose in the game but I find it confusing that stalkers are considered new infected in the second season of the show when in the first game it was established that stalkers are a second evolution to the infected
Eugene wasn’t the guy who swung at Joel with the bat. He was part of Jackson, why would he be all the way at the University of Colorado attacking Joel?
So yeah, the therapist Gail is a new character in the show who wasn't in the game. Her husband, Eugene, was a character who was only ever mentioned in the second game, and he died of old age in the game and not killed by Joel so the show is taking quite the deviation which I love.
Well lets see how they adapt this story.
The therapist is new and they just decided to connect her with Eugene who is a second game only character. Abby strolling up is a part of that beginning game and I imagine we'll see more of that in the start of episode 2.

Eugene is only mentioned in the second game. The part where Dina and Ellie hook up during the snow storm then Jesse finds them and tells them Joel and Tommy didn't check-in. They are at Eugene's place where he grew his weed.
