Completely agree with you about the change this Season. I like a lot of whats happening but not how it's happening, and it feels rushed. The next season I think it's more I don't really like most of whats happening, or how they're telling it and it feels hella rushed.
George R.R Martin himself noted that they could have easily filled 10 plus seasons with the story he wanted to tell (Full length ones at that) but the show writers wanted to move on, and as soon as they decided that, and decided on the last 2 seasons being so short, their fate was sealed tbh.
I've said this before but those who claim the show 'is trash after season x y z" are people with trash opinions. Game of Thrones will go down in history as one of the best shows ever created and that's still true as it was written/shown. The only thing that was "taken from us the viewers' is that it could've been THE greatest show of all time instead of top 5 or 7 etc
Lmao calling people opinion's trash rather than admitting that the drop in quality of writing is huge (f*cking huge).
Of course GoT will be remembered as one of the greatest piece of media in history, but still season 7 is meh at best and season 8 can straight up be call trash. Happy if you liked it, I think we all wished we liked it but it's not the case.
Somebody with a trash opinion.
No, that is the real trash opinion. You know it's not as good after season 5. You know it. It remains well produced. But it is not well written. The last 3 seasons are actual fan fiction. Fun fan fiction. But still fan fiction.
What part of going from the best show ever to only top 5-7 do you not understand means "not as good?" Are you okay? GoT is better than 99.9% of the slop being put out today and will continue to be that in the coming decades with the AI slop coming to make stories/art even worse
please watch prison break
Please just move straight into House of the Dragon when you finish. Lore videos on this series will most likely spoil the events of HotD for you, as the story had already been written before the new series aired and is very relevant in giving you the context for much of GoT.
Arya was so quick and precise with it that she didn't even need to clean the blade. She sheathed it immediately.
You know it’s really freaking hilarious listening to Cersei talk about Tywin like she admired, listened and loved him the most. Tywin told her to her face that she was not as smart as she thinks she is. One example being that she allowed Geoffrey to intimidate whomever and do whatever he wanted, which resulted in war. She allows her worst impulses to control her and hence drive her decisions which resulted in her three children dying. Her saying that it is Tyrian‘s faults for Tommen and Marcella’s death is as insane as it gets. She’s the one who allowed the faith to do whatever they want. She’s the one who fixed the trial so that everyone considers Tyrion to be guilty, which later resulted in her daughter’s death. Tyrian has been more reasonable person than anyone. Tywin respected him more than his whole family and councilors; when he made him acting Hand of the king, when he spoke to him about Rob Stark’s death. And yes, I know that he wanted him dead too, but compared to Cersei Tyrion had more practical dialogue than anyone. So at the end of this episode when Searcy is preaching how she doesn’t want to trust Tyrian, who murdered their father is hilarious because she did not love her father. She even told her brother as much.
I like season 8, you just have to be open about what they tried to create and see that this is best for everybody in a sense. But you'll see! I did go Diamond member just to get the episodes earlier, so I really hope you both at least don't hate the ending.
Fun ride. Sean made these worth watching.
Can you guys please please please do prison break after this pls see this comment and respond
I saw it and I agree with you! I hope it counts for something.
The first half of 8 is good, not great and I don't think it's really comparable to the peak of Thrones, but it's nice. However, the second half is insane when it comes to character decisions and the ending is just soul crushing, especially considering the reason the show itself states for the decision. It honestly baffled me how they managed to throw nearly all pay-offs to the bin. All the set-up through the seasons just gone, and that would be fine, if the alternative made sense... but it doesn't.
So, season 7 is rushed and full of holes, but it's still good. Season 8 is infuriating.
I do agree that it might not be that bad to you guys but nonetheless the whole world was in trance with this show, but then it ended the way it did & almost no one was talking about it like ever, the fanbase just want quiet & were super skeptical of the HotD show when is twas announced, it left a bad taste in general more than just a couple people's opinion on here.
You're wrong about how no one talks about this show. The people who talk about it are the people who apparently can't stand it everyone else who actually likes the ending of the show just mentioned it whenever it comes up in conversation but the people who don't like it always seem to go out of their way to bring it up so the show actually is talked about even after it's been off the air
Like, if the only ones who talk about the show, voice negative opinions about it, its not that complicated to understand that the majority of people who watched the show, do not like how it ended.
Your own opinion of the show is valid, but thats what it is, its an opinion.
Your own opinion is your own thing, you dont need to justify it by telling other people their opinion is wrong.
If so, you are justifying others for telling you the same thing - something you clearly dont like, so why are you doing this to others?
You are allowed to like a show rofl, others not liking it doesnt invalidate your opinion.
Jessy, you gotta admit the irony here. You are in 3-4 comment threads (just from what I saw!), telling everyone their reasons for not liking the show is silly - yet here you are claiming the only ones who still talk about the show are the ones who dont like the show, and the ones who dont talk about it - "all like the show".
"Only the people who dont like the show go out of their way to bring it up" - yeah no, it seems more like the few who actually liked it - like you, go out of your way to tell the majority - the ones who didnt like how the show ended - their reasons for not liking it is wrong lol
AAAA SE CAGARON, I could see the horror in your eyes when you thought Jaime was gonna die.
Still ultimately enjoy this season but same on the issues. Jon having a get out of jail free card when he should of been dead 10 times over not to mention surviving certain hypothermia just isn't the quality of writing that Game of Thrones is known for.
Considering all the Sansa hate in the GoT community, especially in the later seasons (non book Sansa) I'm so glad you guys actually understand and support her motivations to some degree <3
The show naming Jon Aegon Targaryen is so funny when you remember that he had a half brother already named Aegon Targaryen. Rheagar had 2 sons named Aegon Targaryen.
Can't wait for them to watch the darkest episode in all of GoT XD
Literally
he comes the season that half the fanbase hate. i personally enjoyed it. have fun guys
Listen, there's a lot that's fun about it. But narratively? It fucking sucks. And relative to the quality of the rest of the show? Utter dogshit. A legacy killing season. So bad it sent Kit Harington into a deep depression.
DO.NOT.LISTEN.TO.COMMENTS. ABOUT. SEASON.8
Until after you guys watch it all on its own. People hate on the season and the end seasons of Game of Thrones for the dumbest reasons the show isn't even bad.
Nice profile picture...
Yes it is 💀
No it isn't
after you guys finish this show and before house of the dragon, i do want to hear your guys thoughts on who the Prince that was promised was supposed to be:3
the choices they made WERE great and would have had so much more payoff with more time and seasons like you all said. I think what truly made everyone mad was the last episode, so when rewatchers see all the small mistakes that led there the previous seasons feel bitter when this show ended the way it did
As someone who read the books before I watched the series I am so glad the boys have gotten the joy they have from the incredible cornerstone this story built. I also am probably more excited to see it all turn to ash in their mouth than I was to watch them enjoy some of the genuinely best television ever made. Does this maybe imply shit about my brain? Maybe. Doesn't stop it from being true
I am so looking forward to House of the Dragon.
That they called Jon being a Targaryen at the end of S6 was my personal Gong
there is a fan fic where Theon makes house GreyStark and adopts orphans from the war as his heirs
I have some issues with season 6, but its finale was the last truly great episode. Arya kills Walder Frey. Qyburn kills Pycelle. Cersei blows up Margaery, Loras, The High Sparrow, Lancel, and countless others. Tommen jumps to his death. Davos learns about Shireen. Jon Snow is named King in the North. Bran learns about Jon's true identity (a mystery built up since the 90's). And Dany finally sails for Westeros. That one episode has more peak moments than this entire season.
feed me more game of thrones. pls. all of season 8. in my gullet. i beg
Yall are voicing the same grievances everyone that hates on this and season 8 have. what made game of thrones special in the first place was having fantasy stories told in terms of reality. Long journeys take time, people change and develop their strengths, and actions have consequences. With season 7 & 8, D&D communicated very, VERY clearly they were just over it, and didn't feel like putting the same effort in. Its nothing beyond laziness. Thats why everyone is so mad. They have demonstrated in the past they habe the capacity for genuinely good writing and a deep understanding of the characters but they simply chose not to put forth the effort. If you dont believe me, look up the cast's reaction to the ending, once yall finish the show. The hasty wrap-up is pure, un-adulterated laziness. That, beyond anything else, is the reason why the last 2 seasons have issues. It is purely because D&D simply decided it wasn't worth their "valuable time." And they, rightfully so, have paid the price for it.
Not only that, they had a Star Wars deal in motion and they couldn't split their time. They wanted to rush through this and then move on to Star Wars. The show was in decline from season 5 onwards. D&D are amazing at adapting stories, they can't write new ones. The narrative throughlines were gone. Cersei blows up the sept killing hundreds, if not thousands, were there any consequences? Her son kills himself but the lowborn seem to not care in the slightest. I know if my ruler blows up a church there'd be consequences. That's just one aspect. These seasons are awful but what D&D say outside of the show just mount on top of what people were already feeling.
Look up Emilia Clarke's (dany) comments on a red carpet, Conneth Hill (Varys) reaction to the S8 script reading, Charles Dance's (Tywin) comments at a university conference, and Peter Dinklage's comments specifically. They will tell you everything you need to know. The blame rests quite solely on the shoulders of two extraordinarily lazy men.
*** AFTER you finish the show. No spoilies :)
You can’t compare got to other live actions
1:44:22 This is how I am, and how I wish everyone were.
Side note, I think you guys would enjoy Star vs the Forces of Evil, but I know it won't happen anytime soon. And idk if it would get enough views/interest nowadays (I still remember how it got crushed that one time in a poll you guys did ages ago against a stacked selection lmao).
Are you referring to the animated thing they did recently? They watched it already.
I'm not sure what you're talking about, but no I'm not referring to whatever it is.
I think because the books have a lot more characters, and they chose to leave a lot of those characters out in the beginning of the show, now that we're getting to the end, there are less characters that they *can* kill off. Even though the books aren't finished, GRRM still gave them an outline, and I think as far as character deaths, they are following that outline, so if a character is still alive at this point in the books, they have to be in the show as well.
All of the 'time constraints' on this season and s8 is bc of the showrunners D&D. They had the opportunity to do I think 12 or 13 total seasons to wrap everything up but CHOSE not to because they wanted to write the Star Wars Sequels (which they got fired from after the abysmal ending).
My main issue with s08 and the ending is they were too rushed
Something tells me the studio didn't want to waste episodes on just travel. They should have countered that by mentioning times between travels. There were a few here and there but if they had to do this it should have been countered with more
Is boom referencing tysha
I doubt it, probably Lady Stonehart. My first thought was Strong Belwas, because I figured he'd like that character, but it might not be one they'd be "mad" about lol
Watch a “game of thrones devoid of logic video”Please
Why would they do that? If they're enjoying the show as is why go watch something that sounds like it's clearly meant to poke holes or speak negative about the show they're enjoying
Listen man at the time no one gave a FUUUCK that Jon was fucking Danny lmao, we were rooting for it😂 EARNED lol, my man doesn’t know, they both don’t know so it’s cool. We let it slide, let’em have this one.
Ew buddy
Sorry nope, there are some like me who minded it from the get.
I really wanted to say I appreciated the dialog between you both at the end of this episode, maybe not for Youtube. But for me personally I loved it.
Y'all saying you like what's happening but not how it's told, is basically the complaint most viewers have. Some people probably don't like the ending. I've seen others say it made sense all along and those people are just naive or whatever. Then there are the people, who I think are the majority, who didn't mind the ending, just wanted it to be more fleshed out and take longer to get there. Like you're saying here, the stuff happening in this season could've been stretched out to season 9-10, and the stuff in next season could've been even further out. I think GRRM said there was probably about 15 seasons worth of material that could have been made, but the showrunners didn't want to. Not HBO didn't want to, because I heard they did everything to try to convince the showrunners to keep the show going for several more seasons. Instead we got this. Not terrible, but not as good as it could have been.
We've made it!! Can't wait for the next season hope your having an awesome time!
Cersei also didn't have Tyrion killed right then and there because she knew—at least on some level—if he was gone, she would no longer have the outlet for her misplaced anger that she's used for the last 35 years. She might actually be forced into some introspection and face she is to blame for a vast amount of her own misery.
Not 35 years. Dany is canonically 22 in season 7
Her resentment toward Tyrion started when he was born, has nothing to do with Daenerys or the Targaryens.
I think he is talking about Cersei, not Dany.
I wanted to like Littlefinger's death, but it just didn't feel earned. Like Tyrion, it feels like he's been dumbed down for the sake of plot. Sansa eventually outsmarting him was exactly the arc I wanted, but it was too forced. It seems like she just got into petty arguments with Arya until Bran just gave them the answer with his powers. Littlefinger could've brought up the fact that Sansa corroborated his story of Lysa's suicide, or demanded a trial by combat, or called into question the validity of Bran's visions, etc. Instead, he became an emotional mess within seconds.
I think it makes sense🤷🏻 shows that deep down he was just a coward that thought he could outsmart everyone.
He definitely is that way deep down, but that scene didn't make it seem deep. If I could think of those 3 other options he could've taken just for my comment, he should've been able to think of some idea. It didn't even have to be an idea that works, just something to show an ounce of intelligence.
you summed up a lot of problems I have with this season. There are a lot more for me but they relate to season 8, so will comment on it when the time is right. ^^ I can relate to the "loving shows even when the ending sucks" I operate the same. I won't hate a show just cause I hate the ending. I just make my own based on Chardevelopment in my head. Problem solved. xD I am not copeing, you are.... xD. for real tho, I get that and I love that a lot about your reactions. Can't wait for season 8.
Yes the season is rushed but idk why nobody is blaming George...the guy who didn't even finish the books lol it's not the showrunners fault they had to wrap up the show with no written ending. They couldn't just wait for George to finish it whenever he felt like it, they were allowed to want to move on. Especially if the author is taking FOREVER to write the damn books.
Um, because they knew what the ending was? A lot of what happens is how the books will end too, it just won't happen in the same way. GRRM said there were 12-14 seasons worth of story. HBO tried to get them to do more seasons. It was the showrunners that did this, no one else.
So the author who still has yet to finish the books has no part in this? lol ok. Still waiting for that ending btw
We will never get the end to the books and that is on GRRM. The show only having 8 seasons, thus being rushed, is not.
yes George does share the blame but hbo could've also just moved on to different showrunners instead of letting dan and dave rush through an ending all so they could get to work on their star wars trilogy that they later lost cause of how poorly received the finale seasons of thrones were.
Do we have proof that HBO wasn't the run rushing them? If it was all their fault then that's one thing but do we know the studio didnt also rush them on account of them not having people who read the books showing up just to see it on screen?
if you google search "bad writers" guest whos the first that comes up
how is the dragon flying better with holes in the wings?
snowman just banged his aunt and they have no idea
y'all are cruisin
they got greenlit for 10 seasons, each with 10 episodes, just so you're aware going into these last 6 episodes. And they TURNED IT DOWN, so that they could rush off to make the star wars show, that they later lost anyway.
You’re right on the money guys. I like the plot points but it’s SO rushed. The pace is off. David and Dan just wanted to get it finished to go onto another project. They ruined their legacy. George RR Martin said they needed 12-14 Seasons.
No spoilers, but when yall start season 8, pay attention to the openings. As far as I remember, its the only season that really changes the openings every time.
Fun fact: blue fire burns hotter than regular red/orange fire
Also, I love how Arya was constantly watching Littlefinger in anticipation. That's the name Sansa added to Arya's list lol
This scene also got spoiled for me. It was when HBO occasionally would get hacked and an episode got uploaded on the Internet before it was supposed to release. People were flooding comments sections with spoilers. Wish I could have relished in not knowing. But i didn't for a second think he was tricking the Starks again.
when the media was feeding us still shots of these meetings everyone was going crazy and theorizing insanely. in the end i guess it was to much hype. now in my rewatch i belive this show to be alot better than what i originally htought
To me it feels super fast paced because there were like 8 different perspectives early on. Now everyone is together and they only focus on 2-3 groups so it doesn’t feel as dragged out.
Completely agree
I always tell people that season 7 and 8 is when the writing and pacing starts to get really sloppy. In the last season especially if feels like they're trying to hurry and wrap all the plot points up.
I gotta say, that was a pretty dumb way of interpreting Cersei deciding not to execute Tyrion on your part... In fact, it's probably the only time I've ever heard someone looking at that scene and convincing themselves that Cersei didn't do it because Tyrion accepted death (he did not) and that wouldn't have been as pleasant for her. Even then, right now writing this, I still can't understand how one looks at this scene and gets this interpretation out of it... It's so bizarre...
I agree lol. I don't love Cersei, and she doesn't love Tyrion, but I think the only time she would've actually killed or had him killed was when she thought he killed Joffrey. She hates him, yes, but he's still her brother and they've always had a weird kind've closeness in the scenes they share together. As much as she hates him, and thinks she wants him dead, and probably wouldn't mourn him if he did die, she doesn't actually want to kill him. Not before Joffrey's death, and not now that she knows he didn't do it
Ehh, kinda shitty to claim "time constraints" here, when the writers wanted out so badly - when HBO even wanted to have them write more episodes for a longer season 8, THEY STILL DECIDED TO CALL IT QUITS.
Nah, no time constraints here, just the writers wanted out, and were speedrunning the story. The writers deciding "this is fine, this is enough".
I agree with Boom 100%, I like what has happened this season, just don't like how we got to said events of this season.
Also, could be a Song of Ice (Stark) and fire (Targaryen).
This is basically what Milesandre said to Lord Varys when he asked her why she wasn't greeting Jon Snow at Dragonstone (I almost said Dragon's Reach lol)
Yeah the teleporting around the map was a very obvious problem. Remember that in the first series, it took about 3 months to travel from Kings Landing to Winterfell. It's a symptom of their desire of the showrunners to wrap everything up as quickly as possible and move on to other things. As you'll see, this will be even more obvious in the final season.
The problem with the little finger plot is ... it was going to work, my understanding is that there was supposed to be a scene in which Sansa asks Bran for advise and that's when she learns it was all a ploy from LF. This version, i believe it was the part where Arya would become "lady of winterfell" that made Sansa aware it was wrong, since she has always known that Arya would never want that.
Six more episodes, six more weeks of winter
Also, small correction, it was Loras' horse that was in heat, which is why The Mountain's stallion was freaking out
You guys nailed it. The reason people were so upset with this season is because it was rushed especially with the traveling done in the episodes. Also they really dumbed down certain characters like Tyrion and even Dany a little bit. D&D wanted to get to their other projects so this one suffered immensely in the end and it was a disservice to the show and to the fans
It's not that big of a deal tbh, but I just want to point out that this is the third episode this season where they've done a walk and talk scene between characters that hadn't seen each other in a while. I'm pretty sure they'd never done scenes like that before this season which is why it stands out so much to me lol
House of the Dragon is very refreshing to watch after season 8. What makes the franchise enjoyable is the weaving of all the complex storylines, and the amazing dialog and actors. CGI battles and dragons are cool but lets be honest we love this world because its basically a soap opera.
Season 8 tomorrow???
Speaking of Robert killing Jon(Aegon), that's why Ned wanted him in the Nights Watch. Where he wouldn't be threat if it were discovered because taking the vow relinquishes any claims to lands or thrones.
That's also why Ned wouldn't tell Jon about his mom when they parted ways, but instead told him he would the next time the spoke. Because by then he would be a man of the Night's Watch and could learn the truth
Wouldn't be a threat*
I forget how much I loved Season 7 until rewatching all of this with y'all. Its honestly still good. The cracks didn't bother me as much this round either. I can't wait for S8E2, I honestly think it's in my top 5 favorites episode of the show.
Cersi has one braincell and unfortunately it's in a coma.
3 in 24 hours? you spoil us.
How do you answer these charges… Lord Bailish.
if they showed us arya and sansa working together behind littlefinger's back it would have made for better entertainment throughout the season. Show us Sansa is a mastermind now
GOT >>>
I know we are almost done with this show, but I am SO EXCITED for House of the Dragon!!!!!!! ✨🎉🙌🙏🤩
Yes please feed me more GOT content 💪💪
Whaattt yall are feeding use lately with these GoT uploads
