i remember having to wait.
its like watching the most recent doctor who finale now and having to wait a year if not more.
Men with good intentions don’t fare well in the game of thrones.
I cant fucking wait for you to get to the episode battle of the bastards in season 6! lets gooo
And thus his watch is ended. Things like Shireen being sacrificed and Stannis dying because of it were the early warning signs of a disconnect in the writing. There's still things to like in season 6, when I rewatch it now, I get fatigued around the end of season 5 and mid season 6. I can feel the writing diminishing in quality in patchwork ways, and there's too little addition of new characters for the plot to make the whole world feel as interconnected and lived in. When i first watched it, I ignored a lot of this stuff hoping that they were pushing to an ending. The final couple of seasons are what make this show so frustrating to rewatch. You'll see what we mean.
6 is fine, 7/8 is when it starts getting sticky lmao
So just as a perspective thing the Shireen thing is something that as far as we know "will happen" in the future of the books. George R.R. Martin in the past said will happen. But it will happen in Book 6 if he never changed his mind. Whether he will commit to that plot line or not has been a conversation for 14 years.
I don't think you will be particularly disappointed until season 8 as you watch. But if you ever rewatch the series you reach a point where you just realize that so much of the story is abandoned so the story can end when it does.
Shireen isn't even with Stannis ATM. She stayed at the wall with Mel, Jon and Selse.
And just like that we're entering S6!! Hope yall stay unspoiled through the rest of the series.
No, season 8 is why everyone gets mad. Season 6 is probably my favorite season.
Season 6 is overall great individually but there are a lot of choices and actions that don't make sense from the perspective characters once you think about them or only make sense from the perspective of leading to the end result. I don't think the guys will be mad about season 6 as they watch it. I think however season 7 and 8 might lead them to reflect more negativity on the season.
I didn't read it as Jorah trying to be with Daenarys because he was in love with her. I saw it as him wanting to fight in front of her to bring a personal element to the games for her, in the hopes of convincing her to stop the games.
To me it was him showing her how he literally wants to fight, kill, and survive for her. And then he even saves her.
The books have been at this point for 14 years sooooooooooo lol
Idk what people are talking about, season 6 has some of the best episodes of the entire show.
Imagine watching this season when it aired. I wanted to break my fking tv when Jon died lol. I also had the books, but hadn't read them to this point yet, so when it happened I ran and grabbed my book to see what happens... and it basically ended with him dying too, with no book after it (yet, still)
Ope, y;all talked about all of this right after I made this comment lol
They used a body double for Cersie's walk of shame btw
Season 5 episode 9 is the episode I am the most sad that the character "Strong Belwas" never made it into the adaptation. He's a fat gladiator on Dany's side who you 2 would love
Guys please force yourself to take atleast the normal time between episodes here! You NEED to experience at least a fraction of what we all did WAITING for season 6 after this ending!
So many memorable things in these episodes. Theon taking out Ramsey's bitch and saving Sansa, poor Princess Shireen, watching Stannis sacrifice so much to accomplish essentially nothing, the betrayal of Olly and the nights watch against Jon, Cersei's walk of shame, Myrcella's death, Jorah's redemption, first dragon-riding scene, Varys' return, and I could keep on going. Also just want to shout out what a man of morals Davos is. Salt of the earth, really.
So funny thing about the showrunners and their deal with star wars.
After how badly the final season was received,Disney straight up revoked their offer to work on star wars
for me the show Game of Thrones only lasts for five seasons, season 6 is the transition zone from the best show in the world to a show you forget after watching it. Why is that? At first people can clearly describe the plot/history of the characters, and then they only remember short highlights, yes season 6 is good, but only because it is filled with highlights, while all the previous seasons grabbed your attention with each episode. I can't say that I hate everything after season 5, because I have happily spent time watching the whole series four times already, but I can definitely say "it's bad that HBO decided to end the series so quickly(("
I didn't know that about Brienne's actor feeling that way in Wednesday. She does also play Lucifer in Sandman, which Lucifer was known as the most beautiful angel.
they would love sandman! especially with jack gleeson (joffrey) returning to acting in season 2!
Sam is still a member of the Night's Watch. They are allowed to leave the wall if on Night's Watch business. Like the one who used to travel the seven kingdoms collecting recruits. In Sam's case it's to learn to be a maester for the Night's Watch
NO sympathy for Cersei . It's tragic just how quickly people forget what a horrible person she is and the abhorrent things she's done
Season five and season six is the best in the whole series, I do not know what people are thinking. Season Six has some of my favorite episodes. WINTER IS COMING!!!
People who react to GoT need to stop caring or looking at what a spiteful(and sometimes dumb) fanbase says about the show. Season 6 has some of the best moments and episodes of the entire series. The only thing that’s sad is that the show could’ve been the greatest series of all time but instead it’s just ONE of the greatest shows of all time(not the greatest)
thats the most valid thing iv heared today W
Please don't make us wait another whole week for the next episodes the next few are so important...
There's a lot that is fun and very worth watching in the next 3 seasons. It just never feels like the show becomes what it set itself up to be. It went from the greatest piece of fantasy media ever, to something incredibly forgettable. From something that defines a genre and stays with you your whole life, to something you just say "well that was fun" and move on from. I won't say why that is. I just want to temper your expectations so you don't become depressed by what you get.
So I gotta just get this out cuz I never see anyone talk it, but I fucking love my man Qyburn (Cersei's maester). The way he rushes in to give Cersei the cloak and get her cleaned up after her walk of shame is such dope character delivery. Like don't get me wrong, he's not a complicated character--actually arguably one of the most straightforward characters in the whole series--but man is just a scientist with a patron wanting to do his work and help the family who saved his life after he was left for dead at Harrenhal (which, ironically, was sacked by the Mountain and his men when they abandoned it after Tywin left and Robb was closing in, always love that link).
Don't get me wrong, is it implied that he's a scientist without morals, who experimented on men without consent and that's why he was stripped of his chain from the Citadel? Yes. Does that make him a bad person? Also yes. But I've always just swung hard for his character as just the cool competent worker guy who just kinda slipped in behind Varys and slowly eclipsed Pycelle with better works, and who is absolutely loyal, useful, and without a bunch of extra fluff.
Oh man. Yeah, I forgot about this finale. I need the next episodes from y'all, good luck besties
Haters can kick rocks bro lmao, season 6 is one of the best and probably my favorite. Such a ride man I love it.
i swear to god if they fuck up darksiders 4...
The reason George R Martin hasn’t finished the book is because there’s too many plot lines. There are more characters in Game of Thrones than there are in one piece.
“So why did you upgrade to diamond?”
“FOR THE WATCH!”
That seriously is the reason I upgraded to diamond, lol. I just couldn't fucking wait to see these two go into GoT blind!
FOR THE WATCH!
Ive said it once. Ill say it always. Stannis is far and away my favorite character. Despite him being the man of men, his story is my favorite. Manipulation is a hell of a thing. People hate Stannis for what he did, but seem to forget how much coercion went on to lead him to his biggest regret. The red woman convinced him before he was ever introduced that he was meant to be king, she goes and proves her god is the one real god, and convinces him and his army that the gods they have had since they were born are false. Stannis by the time he burns Shireen, is a broken man in mind, body, and soul. Are his actions justified? HELL NO! But to turn a blind eye to the manipulation Stannis is put under for however long the red woman was around for is just plain silly. She is the reason he makes his decisions. Imagine years of time, day after day someone telling you that you are the chosen one, you are to be Azhor Ahai the literal embodiment of the word hero, everyday someone telling you that you are doing the right thing, murdering your brother with blood magic, everything you do is justified because you are gods chosen warrior. Stannis is not a good man. He is not an evil man either. Religion can be the saving grace that a man needs, it can also be the dagger in his side. Down with the lord of light is what i say.
Well, it's the main flaw of Stannis. His perception of duty, honor and justice. In a world where Stannis is Azhor Ahai, all of his actions become justified. In the same way he believed he should be king, and that as it was his right, he was willing to kill his own brother. Killing his own daughter, as the chosen of the lord of light was going to come into play. The problem with Stannis is that you like him because of his principles, but those principles can be just as destructive as they can be beneficial. Ser Davos is a great example of Stannis' stance in motion, punishing the crime and the act of heroism in one seems justified, but lacks any acknowledgement of circumstance. The lord of light was a catalyst, yes, but it was his own stubborness and inability to be flexible on his principles that was his downfall.
Just like Stannis, I find the red woman is also a complicated character - she did great things and horrific things, but isn't that just about every character in this show I guess
I completely agree. My friends and I gathered every week to watch GoT. Full on potluck parties every Sunday, we were all the way in. We told each other to buy a banner for whichever we thought would finally sit the throne at the end; except our one friend who actually read the damn books. I chose the Baratheon banner. I still kinda regret because of how shitty Stannis turned out to be.
But...there is...another.
God damn man... as a girl dad now... this scene just hits different like fuck stannis before but this just hit a whole different level this time around that I cant even express in words
I dunno? First gruesome kill… she stabbed Poliver in the throat
she slid the blade in and slid it out slowly, that's not gruesome.
i'm guessing ser davos and jon snow will be y'alls favorites to wind out the series, i'm curious what you'll think about who survives to the end and who guides the narrative from here. thanks as usual for being the best reactors out there. found y'all a while ago and have been lucky to watch this grow to what it is and appreciate yall as a comfort show in general and as some of the most genuine influencers and reactors out there.
I was watching the show recently with a friend that's never seen it who's a new father. We had to skip this entire scene as soon as the pyre showed up because he just couldn't. Other than the baby that's killed in season 1 Shireen is definitely the most innocent victim of the show.
In interviews GRRM has said that he's fallen out of love with writing and is overly critical of anything he writes anymore, saying that what he wrote the previous day was crap often. Although he said that he loves the characters. Winds of winter will likely never be finished by him, and neither will A Song of Spring. Season 5 is where the showrunners had to start making up their own stuff, hence some of the hate.
Dream of Spring, not song, sorry.
Back when this season aired, it was announced ahead of time that Bran and Hodor’s actors were taking a year off and they wouldn’t be seen again until season 6
It’s crazy how this is how I find out about darksiders 4
People don't like season 5, but, basically, if I could put it in any way is that, from season 1 through 4, I can recall entire episodes / there isn't a moment where I'm like "This isn't great, it could be better, this is slow, this has no purpose, ect..." In season 5, most of the characters spend their time doing fuck all.
It takes Jamie and Bronn all season to get in Dorne, kill 4 soldier, steal their clothes, get to Marcella, get their ass beat, be horny in the dungeon, make up with the leader of Dorne and then finally get out but Marcella gets poisoned at the end.
Sansa walks around the north with Little fingers for a bit before getting handed out to her house's family by Little fingers, one of the smartest man in the world, hoping that doing that to the person he probably loves the most wouldn't go bad for him or her.
Tyrion spends the season on boats and on foot on his way to Daenerys with not much happening on the way there other than getting taken alive by someone else who is taking him there. He then meets Daenerys and gets promoted to advisor without doing much other than talking drunkenly talking to her.
I could do this with every plot point, especially with the sparrow back in King's Landing, but basically there's not one episode that is just straight gas. There are still great moments. There is still peak in there, but it is surrounded by a lot more slowness and plots that go nowhere. No one is saying Hardhome is bad, but the ending 20 minutes over there are great, while the beginning of the episode amounts to not much.
Season 6 and on has fewer and fewer good moments, and very rapidly, especially season 7 and 8, characters become shells of themselves, only displaying some of their past qualities, but if you take your time and think of the characters actions and motives, especially further on with hindsight, things seem very dumb. On a first watch, it might all seem fine until the end, but hindsight really hurts the final 3-4 seasons.
Also, btw, the books covered some of what happens in season 5, and in is where the biggest deviation occurs. From season 5 on is where the showrunners started to take even more liberties and drove things into weird directions, from which they don't really ever recover.
Still, expect some big and good moments, but yeah, it loses a lot of value with hindsight.
Literally the more you think about the characters and their motivations the entire show just falls apart in seconds, If you pay attention to the show and all of its rules and the way characters act and behave, you do not get rewarded you get insulted
People were pissed and hate the final season, season 7 not season 6
#notmystannis
The Mannis in SOIAF would never do this
Last comment, Bran wasn't in this season at all because in the books his story was already caught up by the end of season 4. And as for episode amount season 7 and season 8 are the seasons where we get less episode amounts but longer runtimes per episode.
So in Game Of Thrones the lady Melisandre has never brought anyone back. Remember when she first met Beric Dondarian she was shocked to learn he was brought back by Thoros. Now if it was Thoros at the wall I'd say it was possible, Melisandre though I'm doubtful.
Gwendolyn Christie who plays Brienne and Wednesday’s principal was also in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy but you never got to see her face…. She played Captain Phasma, the chrome plated stormtrooper
Stanis knows that every time they made a kings blood sacrifice it worked. He did everything he could to avoid using his daughter for it. What Ramsey did to his army forced his hand in his mind. Hope it was worth it. This is about where I got to on my original watch before I lost all my ways to watch.
I remember watching this season finale with my sister. She was shocked Jon died (I was a book reader so knew it was coming, though I would argue there was much less cause for it here whereas in the books, I can see how they could feel it was warranted even if I didn't agree). Anyway, we started theorizing on how they would end up beating the White Walkers and the topic of Valyrian Steel came up, like you guys a few episodes ago, we believed it needed steel that had been subjected to dragonfire to make, which does actually describe another important piece of the setting: The Iron Throne. We thought the ending would be everyone who wanted that blasted chair so badly would have to see it destroyed completely, reforged into hundreds of new Valyrian Steel blades in order to save the world. Without giving away too many spoilers, it obviously didn't happen that way but I still think it would have been a great way to do things.
Also, in regards to if GRRM has given up, the last book was released before S1 of the show aired, so, yeah.
RIP to the unsullied soldier getting burnt alive by Drogon lol.
Saw that for the first time this go around. Man got some massive friendly fire.
And now you have reached the end of the books.
This personally is where the show ends for me after this. Nothing else happens lol I look forward to watching the downfall
Haven't really heard any of this season 6 hate tbh. Personally it's one of my faves. Also if this helps your theory, as a gay dude, I am a fan of Jorah too
I waiting for this episode 😈😈😈
0:46:01 hey guys, remember in Legend of Korra when the equalists attacked the pro bending stadium?
Btw, the Targaryen war of succession that Shireen told Stannis about(the Dance of the Dragons) is the plot of House of the Dragon, the prequel that you watched three episodes of back in the day.
Also Joffrey totally spoiled the ending for House of the Dragon back in season 4(and spoiled the ending of the upcoming prequel in that same scene) so once again, Joffrey fucking sucks
Jorah is a creepy Stalker.
Who gets the other dragons. Rubbing my hands together. Who indeed, my dudes? ☺️
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh🤣
I was so anxious to watch you guys react to this episodes. I cried so much to jhon's death, i love this show
So glad we got this today!! I am once again humbly requesting you guys check out the new season of Rick and Morty lol
I walked in while someone else was watching the end scene of Episode 9, and that's what got me interested in Game of Thrones :D
I very much enjoyed the last three seasons. please go into it with an open mind
I know it’s kinda unrelated but since you mentioned it, you guys should totally check out handmaids tale
Where's my "hello Billy!"? I won't watch it without that. You guys suck.
i bloody love stannis in the books they did my man so dirty because they didnt knew what to do with him in the end. Stannis the Mannis the one true king of Westereos, i have faith he will defeat the Boltons in the books, remember the pink letter, the north remembers!
He won’t because GRRM will never finish the story and even if he does, Stannis still won’t win because justice doesn’t exist in Westeros and good guys die horribly.
On IMDB it is only in season 8 that the reviews for the show fall dramatically, of the top 10 rated episodes, four of them are in season 6 and 7. These next two season are fire IMO, and im excited for the discussions in season 8 cuz the only reason people care so much is because they did such a good job up until then, and it is a learning lesson for future shows.
i kindly disagree i think the seasons really fell of after the books. the first 4 season are 10/10 after that the season go down by like 2 points for each season onward.
Now imagine having to wait like a year to see the next season
Better yet, imagine reading about his death in 2011 and the new book STILL hasn't come out
Fun Fact:
Ned, Rob and Jon all executed people as traitors for honor and all died in the seasons they did it in.
People seem to forget that the reason D&B got to do the show is because they correctly guessed who was going to be on the iron throne at the end. The actual ending for that specially was supposed to be the ending for the book but no one liked it for many reasons so I don’t think GRRM will ever finish the books. Also I’m sure people don’t like season 6 but I do and it has two of the highest rated episodes of GOT
As Thijs said, it was R+L=J that the guess correctly. But I do think you're still right that GRRM confirmed that who ends up on the Iron Throne will also do so in the books
I thought it wasn't that they guessed who was going to be on the Iron Throne, but rather the big secret which gets revealed in future episodes.
i think your misstaken they didnt knew who would win in the end the knew r+l=j thats why JRRM agreed for them to make the show.
I personally think the "D&B rushed Game of Thrones for Star Wars" is a rage theory among fans trying to rationalize the last few seasons... It wasn't a rushed job, in actuality the show runners only got the cliff notes version of the ending of the series from GrrM. They knew the major story moments.
D&B chose fewer episodes/seasons to finish the show faster. The show was negatively impacted, and that's on them. HBO was in no rush to end this show which made them incredible profits but they went along with D&B probably thinking they knew best. The timing of the Star Wars film news might have played a role, but we'll never know unless they outright say it. It's as simple as that.
They could have fill in the blanks better, they had an infinite budget and all the power to hire as many talented writers as they wanted. They were allowed to change things however they wanted and at the end of season 7 HBO and all the fans wanted GOT to keep going. There are lots of great book adaptations that stray from the source material, you can even make a great movie from a bad book, so don't blame anyone but the people who made it.
The nudity in the walk of shame scene was actually a body double because Lena Headey was pregnant while they were filming if I remember correctly.
Ollie shoulda got offed wit his parents 🤷🏽♂️ sorry not sorry
The hate is just the internet not knowing how to enjoy things and some timeskips that just happen, (been happening the whole time)
Sam is going to train to become the Watch's new maester to replace Aegon.
a small comment about Jorah...
How I read Jorah's mindset was more about reclaiming his honor as Daenerys' knight... YES, he was in love with her, but after his betrayal was found out, he knew that the feelings would never be reciprocated, but he still wanted to serve her and of course be forgiven.
When his first attempt was then shut down, he was only left with 1 choice ( specially knowing his life was ending due to greyscale )... it wasn't like "I just need to be near her", rather.... this is my hail mary.... I either die in the Arena or I earn her forgiveness....
Though I also think it helps to know the rest of the series and that jorah is my favorite character... >_>
As a woman, I don't think Jorah is romantic lol. I view him as trying to prove his loyalty and willingness to die for Daenerys. I only view him as loyal soldier trying to make amends for initially betraying Dany and keeping that info from her. In the end, he's useful and his loyalty unwavering. I would use him as well if I were Dany.
knowing that ruff is a father I was worried about how he would react to Stannis's daughter's death. I was thinking about since they started watching GoT.
So the ending of ep. 10 was spoiled for me, but it was the only way I got interested. Killing off a main character wasn't a thing in shows I watched. Binged 6 seasons before 7th came out with my cousin.
I forgot how much drama happened in these two episodes…. Well you are now caught up with the books. Imagine waiting a whole year to find out what happens next.
HELL YES!
I was waiting for this and hoped you would drop it today!
Thank you <3
