24:17 Nice of you to call her by her title, but at whom is she gonna fire back and for what?
pls react to hisotries and lore of GoT. The Actors tell stories from the world that are relevant to thge story from the perspective of the characters
Barristan Selmy is often considered top 2 (always top 5) of all time in terms of fighting skill. Sometimes the only thing interchangeable between him and no.1 is a particular sword 🤷🏻♂️
In his prime Selmy would have cut down that entire room without much difficulty.
Respect to a fallen legend 🫡
You guys have probably already figured this out from the comments, but S5 is where this show starts to piss off all the book readers. GRRM had largely stepped away at this point and D&D ran out of books to pull from and a lot of bad decisions got made without that support structure.
i hope sean realized that grayworm is also Louie from Interview from the vampire series.
histories and lore when ?
imagine you understand people so little you think he would go back to cercei xD
I will never forgive this show for killing Ser Barristan Selmy, canonically a top 3 swordsman in the entire series and possibly all of history, in a back alley dagger fight. He's still alive in the books and deserved way better.
I see this type of comment all the time as if him taking out 12 men by himself was an insult. We’re not even talking about a guy in his prime(or close to it) either.
I think it's more that he's alive in the books still so to kill him in an alley fight where if he hadn't turned up the only difference would be greyworm alive that's all 🤷🏻♂️
The chief complaint is usually more that they wasted the character than that he didn't go out like a badass. Outside of the writer, every single person I've heard speak about the decision to kill him said it was a mistake.
i found it a rly fitting death scene
When Sansa tells Balish that when he returns, she expects she’ll be a married woman, and Balish gives her that look before turning away, I don’t think it’s the look of "will, we were going to be able to get married anyway so it doesn’t matter," I think it’s a look of "well, we’ll take care of that when I return," so that Balish can marry her, and become warden of the north. These aren’t spoilers, just an interpretation of the scene. What do you think?
Honestly I have no idea because it was a crazy decision to me and so unlike Baelish. It's a change from the books that doesn't actually make sense unlike some. Completely unlike him to give away the biggest prize out there (at the moment) and key to the north
If S4 was the Fuck Around season, S5 is the Find Out season.
So that final fight never happened in the books. But it is possibly one of the most accurate depictions of a character's strength that the show has ever done. Selmy taking out a dozen of the Sons whilst they're surrounding him is pretty much his level in the books. So at least out of the three legendary knights of Westeros shown in the show, they were able to show one of them properly.
One of the others, Jamie, was shunned unfortunately. His feats at the Whispering Wood were at least 10x greater in the books (for those who want to know, in the show it was depicted as Robb and his men capturing Jamie after Jamie killed a few men... in the books, Robb was at the rear of the battle with an honor guard of twenty of the best northern fighters. Jamie fought in the battle and when he realised he was going to lose, he cut his way through Robb's entire army, exhausting himself, to reach Robb and his honour guard where he proceeded to fight a 20v1 against twenty of the north's best fighters, and killed 11 of them before succumbing to exhaustion).
I wish that Jamie had been given the same treatment as Selmy
Never fast forward the opening credits, they are one of the best things in the show (I'm not saying they are the BEST thing in the show, I'm saying they're ONE of the best things in the show)
24:00 Im glad you all could acknowledge Stannis and give him some points. I have said it once, and i will say it again, Stannis is my favorite character.
Ser Barristan Selmy, known as Barristan the Bold for once challenging a Targaryen prince to a joust at the age of 10. He once single-handedly saved The Mad King from captivity in a rebellion known as The Defiance of Duskendale. He ended a war called the war of the Ninepenny Kings by killing a pretender to the throne named Maelys the Monstrous in single combat. The only member of the Kingsguard to survive the Battle of The Trident, thereafter he had his wounds tended to by Robert Baratheon's personal maester by Robert's own command, although they fought on opposing sides. In his youth, he was considered to be perhaps the greatest fighter of the time. By both fans of the books and in-world characters, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest swordsmen to ever live, alongside his sworn brothers of the Kingsguard Ser Arthur Dayne and Ser Jaime Lannister. A true legend.
That was indeed a sweet moment with Stannis man :')
Tommen is great kid, but hes not fit to be king. a King should rule with an iron fist! he cant do that. hate Joffrey all you want, but he would have destroyed the high sparrow in an instant. not him personally, but he would have ordered it
"He's only a boy. A good boy, a decent boy, he always has been. Who was the last decent king, I wonder? He could be the first man who sits on that throne in 50 years to actually deserve it."- Cersei Cersei goes on to explain to Margaery that "He will need help..." Tommen had the makings to be a great king. What he lacked was competent advisers such as his great uncle Kevin or one Ser Barristan Selmy. The thing is, the high sparrow never would have come into power if Joffery were around, because he never would have allowed the faith militant to come to power. Joffery didnt listen to his mother, who is the very reason the faith militant do what they do. Cerseis stupidity is what leads to what is to come, not Tommens lack of experience. Its also worth mentioning, in the books Tommen is only like 8 years old at this point in the story. So the writer for the show seemingly write this 16 year old with more child like characteristics. Yet, when Jaimie was 15 he was already a kings guard, Robb Stark was named king in the north, Tommen is weak because he is supposed to be a literal child. Not a 16 year old man grown like the other teenagers we know of. Tommen is arguably the most fit to be king, as far as people who actually live in Westeros goes, other than Stannis of course, but thats my own personal bias. He just lacks the guidance he needs to lead him into greatness, because again, hes an 8 year old child written in the body of a 16 year old.
Yeah to be fair tommen was rlly just a kid with no good advisors.
How did I not notice another episode. Well today just got sooo much better. This now then Endgame later.
Yeah I was wondering if Endgame would come out today.
The last scene is the first one in the series that made me as a book reader made me actually mad with the changes made for a character's story. The actor himself has also expressed pretty clear frustration with the way his storyline went.
I'm fat, autistic and have a habit of falling in love in the most inconvenient way. I can apply for Sam.
I can be a S.A.M
Sounds sorta-awesome
How tiresome can running a full-time reaction channel be? Lol jk yall are the best. So much amazing content all the time.
Pretty tiresome when it comes to organisation I suppose lol
But I'd be willing to do it to get paid for watching stuff basically.
Half Joffrey, half Tommen. That would make a better king but Joffrey was too evil and Tommen is way too soft!! Their both on the extreme ends of a spectrum. Great reaction looking forward to more 😁
Yeah, Mace Tyrell is a goofy, ineffectual dunce, but he's at least obliviously well meaning which in this world makes him better than 90% of people.
It's good to finally see Barristan Selmy finally fight, they tease a few times about how legendary a fighter he is throughout the previous seasons. I think he's regarded like top 5 all time
Love Sean picking up on some lore aspects this episode. IYKYK. :)
Tommen showing his weakness is a directly example of what Little Finger was saying about the Lannisters now. They’re losing power every day and not a house to fear anymore so everyone is trying them.
Love that you let the credits play a little longer in this EP. Credit music in GOT is baller
ramin djawadi the goat 💪
Funny enough I am indeed a Sam, however I live in Ohio so that disqualifies me from any job opportunities for y'all 😆
Just in time!! Just finished ep 3. Thank you boys!
